Reviews with Ryan at River Ridge: MTB Hopper LITE vs Coach
Solid review, poor Jorge with the overcooking a jump crash. 😅
He actually did something much more dumb. Let’s just say we don’t recommend trying to hit top speed while on a skinny!
He’s always good for fun content!
Such a cool review, love the interactions with Jorge too! 👌
appreciate the recon, never been there, looks lush
@@nicholkid it’s worth a visit for sure!
Shoulda had some shots of the jumps up the trail … looked like fun
I'll try and get someone willing to grab some better footage at the next 2 events, but it's a challenge when we're also racing!
Excellent! Now I have video of me doing the Duster Drop. Gotta work on my technique. Thanks Ryan’s Mom!!!
Awww…. Thanks for thinking of me!
yeah man, we got you!!
Feed zone before discomfort? no issue with congestions before finish!
Not sure, you should ask Craig! He doesn't watch the comments on here, you're better to reach out to the PCDI facebook or instagram
Alright, get stoked! Looks as jumpy as you want to get and easy ride arounds if you want to keep the tires touching the dirt.
Can't wait to get the season started!!
Looks nice, never been up there before. Will be fun !
awesome! I hope you make it out!
Nice! Stoked on this
I'll definitely be hitting those trails again the next time I'm up there.
Thanks for the video. I'm looking at either the coach you show here, or the ninja approach and to be honest I'm not sure there is any difference between the two.
have you made a choice? I appreciate the comment, sorry I'm slow to respond, I've been offline during our (extended) shoulder season!
@@riverridgetrails There were some nice discounts on the ninja approach with the boost add extension as a bundled price. I ordered it end of December, and now just waiting for it to ship. I'm super excited, even though i don't plan on busting out the boost extension to start. But we'll see. Keep up the great videos!
Hi Ryan. Wanted to ask what the max height of the coach ramp was. Finding it hard to get details. Thanks
So awesome! It's great to see such a dedicated bunch of riders and builders
It really is!
That’s riding off a jump, not jumping.
thank you for watching
Cool idea using the picnic tables!
thanks!
I hope you can get the funding needed. I really enjoy the trails. It might not make much difference but i wish there was a recycling bin for bottles and cans instead of just using the garbage bin.
Thanks @qaz-omen for that suggestion, not sure how we never thought of that!
we typically buy the family membership through river ridge nordic. Are any of those funds pooled with you Ryan?
Thank you very much for supporting the Nordic club. Your memberships are essential in helping the club keep the ski trails running all winter long. General park infrastructure, plus summer and fatbike/snow shoe trail maintenance falls under the committee right now (although we could really use a summer bike club to help with a lot of that!!).
'Promo SM' 😒
Also, river ridge is now one of my favourite places to ride now. Thank you and the other trailbuilders so much for putting all the work into it
At the pump track at river ridge I would recommend scooping out all the loose gravel. I think it would make it way faster
thanks for the input, trail maintenance is our new challenge, as we are getting close to completing the actual trail building.
Skipping Funhouse is a very sneaky omission of pain
lol, I asked Cory to show me his favorite trails he wanted to show off, you can blame him for the route!
NBR always picking a great route for the race, thanks for the video preview!
great video man!!
I wouldn't survive the first four minutes of this haha
Kassi, it’s easier when you’re not trying to keep up with Cory!! (although you’ll notice I didn’t say “EASY”, just “easier”.
Great video! The feed zone water bottle hand ups were on point, no dropped water bottle bloopers. You took that drop so smoothly!
I’ll tell my mom she did a good job getting videos!! She’ll appreciate it.
I’m a skier on the hiper team so will this be open during winter?
I'm not sure the exact plan, but winter use is part of it for sure! We're still working out all the logistics.
Finally a clubhouse
Yeeeeeess

Looks like a cool course!
thanks, I know I really enjoy it!
Thanks for that!
Great idea. For those coming from the north, turning at Warmen, and going thru Dalmeny seems to be the best route. Cutting across the gravel may seem faster, but you get a dirty drive chain.
I walk there often , wow does it look amazing and different from a drone. I cant wait to try my new one out there this summer.
Thanks for the tire closeup. Squished pretty good.
I'll try and get some better shots of tire deformation when it warms up a bit. Thanks for the idea!
OH...and why the move to the coach? Unhappy with the lite for some reason, or just a natural progression?
Cool...but what was the piece left over at the end?
So, Craig owns the yellow lite that I reviewed last year. When I was buying one for myself I decided on a bigger one for more progression. The two small orange parts are for setting it up as a "roll over" feature (much smaller, no jumping required). I'll demonstrate this at some point in a future video.
@@riverridgetrails Cool, thanks for the reply. Last years vid has me with a lite ramp still in the box waiting for spring. I can hardly wait
@@sharpuslf I was in the same boat, that's why I took out my new coach and hit in with my fat bike last week.
Thanks for the video RRT! I enjoyed watching your FAT trail ride!!
Thanks!
Filming in the cold is hard. Filming while biking is hard. Thanks for taking the effort to combining both of them on the regular!
Thanks for that, and while I agree with you (it's difficult!), it's been a fun and rewarding challenge.
Thank you for the recommendation Thomas. I’ve actually started shopping for cross country skis! Having said that, I’m afraid skiing will likely come second in my heart to fat-biking…..
Try Rossignol BC 59 skies for that backcountry/trail combination Excellent on advanced courses with tricky downhills.
Ryan, would you like a ski lesson?
I certainly wouldn’t turn one down!!
Have u skied down the trail with the whale tail ramp yet ?
I have not, we don't groom that for skiing. We're actually hoping to groom that for fat biking (although we're still working out the details of grooming the bike trails this winter). I can absolutely promise you I'll go full send on my fatty over that feature as soon as I can!!
That looked pretty challenging. Good for you guys!
Good vid. I love walking there. You should make some videos without the fish eye lense , it drives me crazy
yes, sorry about that, we had the setting wrong on this video, hopefully the next one looks better!
Yeah that was discovered after the fact, mismatched lense installed and camera setting.
That was certainly something out there that day!
Did a bunch of laps yesterday, rolling fast now
For rider's safety, I have to be slightly critical. I have seen a number of videos here emphasizing getting weight back. For instance, there's a slab video that talks about getting weight back as far as possible. It's not all about getting weight far back. There's a time and place for that, but it should not be a blanket statement. For the slab video, getting weight too far back can lead to an unweighted front tire and loss of front grip and steering control. For this video, the weight positioning has to match the speed. I agree here where Ryan says to have someone knowledgeable show you how and tow you in if you're not immediately comfortable.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind in future videos. I hadn't meant it to be a "blanket statement", but I can see how it seems that way.
Will the other trails be closed while the races are on?
good question, and I would say yes. The course intersects almost everything. The walking path, and River Roller would be the only ones that aren't impacted.
