We are a couple of people passionate about travelling. Coming from different cultural backgrounds of Poland and the Azores we might differ in the way we perceive the world but on one thing we absolutely agree on and that is that travelling means experiencing. Experiencing people, culture, food, scents, emotions. Being out of our comfort zone, meeting locals, understanding them and trying to see...

    You must check where you get your information from. The story you are saying happened not because of religion. Killing is literally forbidden in the Ezidi religion. What you are saying is insulting and most of general information are also wrong. We are absolutely older then Zoroastrian and you said opposite. Next time if you decided to educate people about some community make sure to give the correct information.

    No, you do not get killed if you marry someone from a different religion. The consequence of marrying someone outside religion is that you are no longer a Yezidi which exists in many religions. The only difference is that, while in other religions a man is allowed to many a woman from different religions, in Ezidisum men and women are both not allowed. The story you are saying is that a girl decided to change her religion and marry someone outside her religion. Later, however, her uncle killed her because of personal reasons. the Muslims in the area killed more than 200 University students because her uncle killed a Muslim girl. This has been the only incident a Yezidi person has done in history whereas, in other religions, such incidents happen daily.

    • @ThousandTravelTales
      @ThousandTravelTales ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your input! What we were told was that the killing of the girl was a direct effect of her marrying outside of her religion and that this is an example of the general law applied in the religion. Yout comment shows the events in a different light.

    Luos didn't migrate from Uganda but from Sudan. There are Luos in Uganda, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo. Even though Luos live in the shores of Lake Victoria, the majority of professionals, like Doctors, Lawyers, Professors, Engineers, and political leaders are from this part of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan and even the US former Presidents father came from this region. Proper facts need to be put on the table. Not misinformation that has been in the works for ages.

    • @ThousandTravelTales
      @ThousandTravelTales ปีที่แล้ว

      You are of course right that originally Luo migrated from Sudan. The migration however happened overtime in steps and to the best of the information we got, the latest in a long list of migrations was from Uganda. And of course Lake Victoria and Kenya is not the only area currently inhabited by Luos, it is however where the community we are presenting in the video lives. Thanks for the comment!

    Can these people not replenish these waters by breeding young tilapia fish and pouring into the lakes? So many countries in Africa are growing tilapia today in artificial ponds. You can't just keep taking and not giving back to nature. They can buy and pour these fishes and learn how to feed them so that they can get a better harvest. They are lucky to already have a lake but other people growing tilapia in African countries have to manually build artificial ponds and are not lucky enough to have a lake. These people have to be given lessons in sustainability. They just consume and consume and expect miracles to happen. I hope you guys can help create a fund that can enable them replenish those waters and maintain them in order to enjoy the final product.

    • @bustanigarden9115
      @bustanigarden9115 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have no idea. Industrialization has greatly polluted the water and reduced fish populations. The introduction of the Nile perch (for export to Western countries) has done tremendous damage to the lake and completely annihilated the indigenous populations of fish. Many types that were there 100 years ago are not there anymore. The Chinese are aggressively fishing Nile perch for their bladders that are used in cosmetics. Then there's the introduction of water hyacinth ( brought as an ornamental plant by some European) which has completely changed the game for local fishermen and the fish . It has affected the fish mating rituals and an myriad of other things in that eco system. So it's not just about the fishermen doing what their ancestors have been doing for thousands of years.( Which some how sustained the fish populations and variety on the lake ,so they must've been doing something right) There's a bigger picture . Bigger things at play beyond their hands. There's was also cage fishing by mostly foreign companies looking for profit of course not sustainably done and causing a lot of pollution in the water. Don't jump to conclusions yet a little more research will show you something different.

    • @eunicelar9746
      @eunicelar9746 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bustanigarden9115 I can now understand. It's rather unfortunate about these people who come to a place and all they want is exploitation. But can't anything be done about the fish? Go fund me for the waters to be replenished with other species.

      @@ThousandTravelTales it was a long journey, with splits. Some Luos followed the Nile and settled in Uganda, others came down to Kenya from the North and others migrated from Uganda (Joka Jok, Joka Owiny and Joka Omolo). Some intermarried with the Bantus in Uganda then came to settle south of Lake victoria (the Suba). So there's plenty stories depending on the community you are talking to
