Amazing to see that so many of the folks in this thread actually have read the books! Great! And Katie: watching your deeply honest emotional responses to the episode imho was as wild a ride as watching the show itself. Thank you for that!
"She was tall, she was huge, she was evil..." Sounds like Inga from Season one -- the woman who tried to kill Villanelle in prison in Moscow.
Loved your video. Just wondering: did you read the books? At least the last 20+ pages from book 3, "Die for Me?" Very different and in my view much better and satisfying ending. Ironically the book also has a scene where they follow into the water and currents pull Villanelle away from Eve for good. But then she wakes up, screaming, like Eve did in the 2nd minute of S1E1. It merely was a nightmare. And in some respects the books were better than the show. E&V were together much more, and the island they escaped was not some small Island -- it was Great Brittain itself, and they escaped in a sea container having to crossthe entire North Sea and Baltic Sea. I think I'll read the books again...
Killing Eve is a great series with deep feelings. I fell in love with Eva and Vilanel and the magnetism between them. I advised all my friends to watch this series, I told them that after it I want to become a lesbian. two months ago, I thought that the series ended with a scene on the bridge from which I cried with happiness. The fourth season should be forgotten like a bad dream. for me it all ended with a scene on the bridge By the way I’m a straight guy
When did they have sex?
I'm still here
I heard Grey's Anatomy <3
I did Tarot readings for decades. The "Death" card doesn't mean death. It means change or growth, moving on from one phase of your life to the next.
Seriously? People are getting this bent over the ending of a TV show? Wow, I must have missed something. Oh wait, no I didn't.
15:59 oh that.. so sorry for you.😭😭 lgbtq+ people are so used to our small amount of representations on screen being tragic ending... the ending was really hurtful.
Katie! Thank u for this! I loved watching ure reactions. Is so good to feel sharing this emotions, with someone..u can relate. KE is The Best! Take care! Greetz from rotterdam 👋🌈😉
You’re so sweet thank you! Forgive me, do I know you??🤭
Terrible ending 😡
As a straight woman I felt so sad about this ending, but when I watched your reaction to this show,I did feel so heartbroken for you all because this does seem to be the only bloody ending they give you guys all the time, this really did upset me because love is love.I was rooting from season one to have the same ending as the books, but no they decided to kill v off what a waste the growth that v went on was great and that was all because she fell in love with eve,she wanted to change that much so she could be with her, stay strong and you will find that special one someday
I appreciate your earnest reactions, and as a guy who finds it hard to cry, it's like you wept the tears I can't. If you've been single for a while, this finale hurt bad and its a prompt from life to go out and find someone, just like the therapist told Eve in the previous episode... But.. I'm soo busy these days honestly 🙄🙄
Your reaction to the last episode is the best. It is so sweet and genuine, I feel the same about how awesome this show was and is. I am not happy with the ending, but mostly for knowing I will see no more of these two. I loved to see how awesome characters can be built up and the acting of the two was mere perfection. Bittersweet goodbye.
Ouch.. some of the comments on here are ugly.. sorry 😢 I just thought I’d let you know that I, for one, feel you and totally get where you are coming from. I’ll be right there with you reading the fanfics!
Jennifer Still from 'Vanity Fair" had a great take how Lesbians are handled in cinema, this subhead below the title of the article says a lot: "...Almost immediately, the devoted online fan base of the BBC America series got to work fixing the “atrocious” finale and commiserating with others who have been disappointed by the “bury your gays” -It's a trope, not the truth - I hope you find love, I hope you find happiness, and especially a good scar or too. ;-)
Great time watching your vidéo. Of the many channels analysing KE, yours one of the best: fun, smart, genuine. You should watch "Babylon Berlin" and tell us all about it.
This comment😭😭 THANK YOU!!! And I will add that to me list!
You are a beautiful human being and you deserve to be happy and I'm sure someone will find you and love you.
I love what you said at the ending about how a show makes you doubt you will ever find love. Its so strong and it happened also to me. We got 99.9999% of tv shows telling us that, they couldnt let us have one tv show ending happily for lesbians and bisexual women????? So disappointing.
I absolutely hated the ending, haven't read the books, so I googled how it ends in the book, and that's the only ending I acknowledge
and honestly its really beyond sexuality its like why has such an important show or piece of art capable of such beauty demeaned at the end to perpetuating negativity and unhappiness.
What the hell is wrong with you people? The name of the show was “Killing Eve” so death was inevitable, either physical or metaphorical. Villanelle was bi, Eve started to experiment only at the end. This was not your lgbtq+ hallmark soap opera. Stop projecting something that was never the show's main objective! Do you know how many movies about straight couples end tragically? Millions!!! Nobody makes a big deal out of it! That’s love - messy, happy, and yes sometimes ends tragically! Sorry to burst your bubble, but the show was never about two lesbians ending happily ever after! Get over yourself!
Read the 3 volume series “Killing Eve” that the tv series was based on. V and Eve end up together and have a happy ending. And Villanelle does something beyond spectacular that makes the world a far better place.
imagine being this homophobic lol
I actually liked the ending for various reasons. I'll write them down, but I'm just saying - if you don't agree with me, don't angrily contest me in the comments. I liked it and you didn't and that's fine. From the beginning of the series, they've shown how toxic Villanelle is for Eve. She reeled her in so hard that Eve became obsessed with Eve. Gen Z surely would cancel me if i did that irl. Now, Villanelle is also a raging psychopath. Brilliant, but psychopathic and a ruthless murderer. I can sort of let that go at the prospect of Eve and her getting together, but to let her pass with a complete redemption arc would also be improper. The expectation of everything being sunny and rosy at the end in itself is ridiculous. A lot of crap happens in life. Life is really sh*tty and to burden the show with that responsibility to give you that ending is also ill-advised. There are a lot of comparisons with Game of Thrones and how both endings sucked. Wrong. When Eve screams underwater when Villanelle dies, you feel the hopelessness and it is a visceral, spine-chilling attack. They didn't want you to go out of it happily. It was meant to be tragic. So if you're complaining that you didn't feel good after watching it, they've accomplished what they set out to do. As a member of the LGBT+ community I understand that most people feel they've betrayed the queer community by ripping them apart, and most people are questioning what message the show is sending out into the society. The show makes Villanelle so cool, and it is such a great example of sapphic representation. Now, if they gave a serial psychopathic killer redemption, and the chance to be with her soulmate for the rest of her life unscathed by the choices she made, what message are we giving out then? She kills people even when it isn't required like Gabriel at the hospital and generally has a questionable moral compass. While Eve can forgive it, there is no reason for you to.
The fundamental problem with Ep. 8 and this ENTIRE 4th season is that Laura Neal either does not know, or does not care, that the center of Killing Eve that EVERYthing else orbits around is the relationship between Villanelle and Eve. Killing Eve isn't about the 12 or who's at the top of the 12. Who the 12 are and what bad things they do are just a storytelling device for exploring the relationship between Villanelle and Eve. We had 3 seasons of push and pull / will they won't they between Villanelle and Eve that culminated in that scene on the bridge at the end of season 3 when Eve finally admitted it -- that when she thought about the future, she just kept seeing Villanelle's face. THAT FIRST KISS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE OPENING SCENE OF THE FIRST EPISODE OF SEASON FOUR, AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THAT BRIDGE THEY WERE ON AT THE END OF SEASON THREE. And following that, we should have had an ENTIRE SEASON of Villanelle and Ever together, and it would have been ENTIRELY NEW TERRITORY for the writers and characters to explore. The highs and lows -- and we all know it would have some lows, but also some spectacular highs. And to those who have said that Villanelle and Eve were "never going to have a happy ending," here's my response: the third volume of Luke Jennings's Killing Eve books that the show was loosely based on, was entirely about Villanelle and Eve living together and all the sparks that flew in their relationship, and not only did it have a happy ending, Villanelle also pulled off something that was beyond spectacular that I will not spoil here for anyone who hasn't read that book. Many others have pointed that out in the comments. The ending of that book was phenomenal. So, don't tell me they couldn't have a happy ending. It's fiction after all -- as a writer, you can write the ending you want. But the tragedy is that as great as Luke Jennings' third and final novel was, Luke Jennings' novel is a novel on the printed page, not on our screens with JODIE COMER and SANDRA OH with all the incredible talents playing these two characters Villanelle and Eve. We will never be able to see what Jodie and Sandra could have done with a episodes of them being together and showing us the relationship that so many of us wanted to see grow. For that loss, I will never forgive Laura Neal and the others who were in charge of season four who missed the greatest opportunity of this entire series -- to finally explore the depth of that relationship of Villanelle and Eve -- two characters coming from completely different backgrounds who show us that mystical thing about relationships that is so unpredictable: you never know where love may come from. Killing Eve -- the first three seasons of it -- is my favorite TV series EVER, and Villanelle is my favorite character in any TV series EVER. Season 4 will not even exist in my mind. It's like a bad dream, and I woke up. What the writers for seasons 1 - 3, and Jodie did for this series and the character Villanelle, could not have been done by anyone else. Somehow Jodie made me love a brutal psychopathic assassin, and root for her to live, grow and be happy. AND THANK YOU, Katie for giving us a place to gather here and vent.
I totally agree. I also think that Konstantins story was bad. And all what Carolyn did, didn`t male much sense either.
Amen!!! TOTALLY agree with everything you said.
Out of all reactions, I felt your sadness and disbelief the most. I fully felt that. And your sheer glee when they kissed! Love this reaction. We are all in mourning. Fucking Laura. And I was freaking out when I saw there was only 8 min left during this scene.
Thank you for saying this. I haven’t watched any other reaction videos so I don’t know how others are speaking or reacting to it. I was just at a complete loss- my show was over and they could’ve done it better:/ I imagine I would be crying regardless of how it ended, simply because it was ending. Thank you for this comment.
I watched the finale again, and also cried with you. Sandra & Jodie are totally amazing actresses, they showed us so wonderful chemistry in character. Eve & Villanelle are the best lovely couple of queer character I'v seen so far. Villaneve forever.
15:52 " I'm so happy right now. They're gonna die aren't they?" It's sad that we expected the worst after we saw them get their happiness bc we knew it wouldn't last </3. The death isn't my issue entirely, rather the way it happened. Villanelle died for nothing right when happiness was in her reach and right when she knew for sure she was capable of being loved. I'm so tired of bury your gays, v deserved so much better, they both did.
Yes, right after the bliss of love blossomed in Villa and Eve's heart, the writers roughly tore them to pieces. A horrible ending... they repeated the same mistake Jason Rothenberg made by killing Lexa right after the consummation of clexa's love.
It’s crazy cuz it wasn’t until it was pointed out to me on Reddit that I said that- that I then realized how many times I actually say it throughout this episode. Trauma from tv always failing us.
@@katiecooter5480 This is deeply sad, regretful and disrespectful to the public who support the series so much, even when some episodes were bad due to conflicts between the writers or weak productions of the script.
I don't see this words to Say Eve to villanelle " i need You" o was is so beautiful 🥰💖
I See the episode final and don't like because villanelle died and , in this sesson don't like helena o the other girls don't like the Moments of Eve and helena or villanelle and girl french but i like the Kiss o the Kiss was beautiful i like so much for me this the last escen was the Kiss 🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️, greetings from Monterrey México. And sorry for My English. And spoilers.
yo si hablo español... aun ando superando el final, me dolió mas que terminar con mi ex, leyendo comentarios no me siento sola, es sentir el apoyo de tantas personas que también aman la serie y aprecian la magnifica historia que se conto a pesar de su agridulce final...
Yeah no one really liked this ending. The whole season was pretty poor tbh, but I think the writer's were out of touch and didn't have the talent of PWB. How tone deaf do you have to be bury your gays in 2022. My wife and I are straight and we both rolled our eyes at the ending. They hurt their legacy with this.
Of course it was right Villanelle died. She was a monster.
I completely agree with your reaction. I definitely found the joy in the Villanelle and Eve moments but the finale was just really sad. They’re just reusing the gay death trope which in general should not happen, but if you’re going to kill a beloved character make it mean something and I just think the ending was rush. Also side note your eyes are gorgeous btw and I definitely think you will find love. I also question my love life, mostly because I’m not for the gen z type lack of romance even though I’m only 26.
Nenhuma lésbica gostou desse final ridículo
In the book, Villanelle and Eve end up faking their deaths and go on to have a peaceful life together in St Petersburg.
Will get those books 👍
OMG, I had no idea... I was heartbroken by the ending in the show, it just didn't feel logical at all at that point. Now I know why.. They should've followed the books.
Lolol at your questions. They have really given us the run around with these extra names and characters. Who is Andreas? Lolol. Love your hair btw xoxo.
And half of them weren’t answered!!!!! Thank you dear❤️❤️
books ending they end up alive and together, in case anyone wants to check that out
Although the ending was cruel, I half expected it. It's been said from the beginning... this will not end well. I was over the moon about that kiss though, just like you! And I'm sure you'll find love, because my honest opinion, you are cute as hell and are very sweet. Stay strong. We'll get through this together! 💖 KE for life!
You’re too kind, thank you 😊😊
@@katiecooter5480 anytime 😊
the scar touching scene made me so emotional it was so soft , the kiss perfection everything I ever wanted , the last 5 minutes don’t exist ,I will never recover and will never forget the writers for ruining my show . Also I think I know you from school !
Riverdale??? I recognize your name but the picture is so small! You’re younger than me right??
DM me on Twitter if you have one- katiecooter_
😭
Thank you for sharing your reactions I’ve really enjoyed them although it sounds wrong to say “enjoyed” but it’s been a privilege to know so many of us are feeling the same way about this special show.
Thank you for watching Marilyn❤️ it’s been a joy to share this journey with so many
this ending sucked, point blank. i’m still furious. even without v’s death, this last season didn’t live up to the quality of the show at all. even season 3 which couldn’t even touch the first 2 was better than this mess. SO much time was wasted on plot lines that were completely irrelevant in the end when we could’ve had more villaneve. i don’t understand how people who write for a living could be so out of touch with what this show was and what the fans wanted from it. delusional, all of them. this hurt me just as much, if not more so than game of thrones. unbelievable. unless phoebe comes back to redo the entire 4th season, i’m afraid this’ll be a wound that won’t ever heal right. enjoyed your reaction though, i definitely cried with you (afterwards anyway. i was completely numb while watching the show). you seem totally sweet and i pray you’ll find love when the time is right. 💕
I think it just shows how much of a reckless and irresponsible decision to end it like that it was! To make us feel unworthy and make us question if it's possible to ever find love like that and not have something terrible happen because of it.. it's just a dangerous place to leave us at. It was so unfair and disrespectful to the fans and especially to the characters and their journey so far. I hope you continue to react to more shows, you are so genuine and nice, I identified a lot with everything you were feeling and saying. Hope you are feeling better by now... god knows i'm still not over it. Stay safe. ❤️
Still feeling down any time I think of it. It’s just such a bummer and so avoidable. It’s baffling
Great reactions from you Katie thanks👍 The WRITER said somewhere they couldn’t do a happy ending as that wouldn’t be believable as Villeneve wouldn’t be able to maintain it. But whatever ending it was THAT was the ending forever (there is no more story) and she said something about “ascension” with winged (although she was shot several times) so not really “winged-V” Presumably Heaven bound, despite just killing another 12? Maybe testing this finale on ANY general audience might have been a good idea, don’t you think.
Laura Neal may have said that queer people don't deserve long lasting love with her finale, but Luke Jennings said that we can be gay, evil, in love and have a happy ending with his books😌. He's the creator of the Killing Eve universe so technically Laura's ending is her own fanfic version lol.
So basically, Laura doesn’t ride for the LGBTQI + peeps. Cancel….anyone?? Cuz she deserves to be after this bullshit!!
I honestly thought the whole episode was pretty bad. Once the 20 minute mark hit and none of the questions that had been lingering this season were addressed, let alone answered answered, I knew the last 5 minutes of the finale was going to be garbage.
Katie!! I have genuinely enjoyed your reactions so much. You seem like a really cool person and I can't wait to see more from you! Also, may I interest you in the Villanelle comes back on Easter theory? I'm in denial and not accepting criticism at this time. 🤡
Yes, go off!
Don't be sad, you will find love. I am sure you will. :) Thanks for your reactions. I hope there will be more, for other series.
I think this is easily the best reaction I've watched so far. Those tears running down your cheeks at the end are more telling than anything you or anyone else could say. Killing Eve has been a truly great show, one of the greatest, and in many ways, this was the greatest of the Killing Eve episodes. It gave us the widest range of emotions in one episode. Many of your points to tick off were mine too. The scar touching... so delicate and loving... almost an apology for V's putting it there but also a mark of something that connects them. Only Eve's buttoning of V's shirt after she'd been shot in Margate was as touching and delicate. I too wanted to know what was in the letter and who killed Kenny. (I've always wondered about that. Remember when Carolyn threatened to kill Konstantine and V said "he doesn't kill people - he gets other people to do it for him". I always wondered then if it was actually V who killed Kenny. I hope not but we'll never know.) Out on the moor - yes, it was a confession, surely to goodness it was. And I'm from Scotland so when they went inside out of the rain and the title came up A BOTHY (GOOGLE IT) it sent my wife and I into stitches. The tarot cards... I'm sure we all knew it didn't mean Eve's death but rather her loss. Villanelle's card - the sun - celestial - well we could see that at the very end where her blood gave her angel's wings. So sad!! Curly fries - a hoot! And. The Kiss... what can I say - the absolute joy at long, long last to see a long, long utterly committed kiss. It was so satisfying. (You were almost crying with joy during that kiss, weren't you.) It's closure for everyone regardless of sexuality to know that their on/off attraction to each other was finally accepted by both women as "Fully On". It wasn't just fascination which could have applied to both. V's fascination with Eve's look, her hair, and the fact that she was interested in V, and Eve's fascination with V as an assasin. Their attraction really did transform to love in my opinion. Love unadulterated. The one word I've left out is a word that you'd expect to be there, and that is "passion". Helene gave us a warning about that when she said that passion is about suffering. The suffering was still to come. Although I loved the kiss I was worried all the way through it. I know those roads up in Scotland. I was sure the writers were going to send something around the corner to break up the joy. But no - thank goodness. It did spoil the moment for me a bit. I had to watch it again afterwards to really appreciate it. "Goodbye you old bastard" - loved it. Very glad V didn't have to kill Konstantine like in the books. In the boat: Yes, Eve's wedding speech was wonderful and echoed her relationship with V. But, and it's a huge "But". The expression on Villanelle's face as she killed the 12 was the same as the expression on her face as she killed the old man in Season 1, Episode 1 with a needle in the eye. It was an expression of joy in her work. She loves the thrill of killing, whether it is her doing it or Eve. She still loves watching people die. She'll never stop. That, more than anything else in terms of plot is the reason she has to die. I know some people say, why can't they run off and be together like in the last of the books. People who've read them, and I don't mean critics, are widely at variance in their view of the endings. They are all from fans of the first books but vary from 5 to 1 star in their view of the books' endings. I've read them and thought it pretty trite too. It didn't do justice to either character. Also, taking V's character into account, if they went off to live together - how long till Eve really irritated V and got killed? In my opinion, if a television show can be Great Art, Killing Eve is Great Art. Killing Eve season 1 was definitely Great Art. It's never quite reached the same heights since then and this season was the weakest. However ever since Carolyn went to Havana things have been picking up and in episode 8 it peaked at just the right time. (If only Phoebe Waller-Bridge had written it.) I loved the "Celestial" visions from V's tarot reading that came true right at the end. Villanelle's wings of blood, Eve reaching for Villanelle but unlike in Michaelangelo's Creation, unable to reach her to give her life. That was Eve's Death card. The scream? Anyone who doesn't hear that scream as one of a loss - a loss of love, of a companion who understands you, of a purpose in life, of grief, is trying to pull the wool over our eyes. The only thing that scream says hello to is a life of loneliness and what might have beens. I'm sorry you've had to read all this. I seem to have gone on for ever, but I felt very strongly about the episode, the show, the characters, the actors and about your reaction to it. Jodie has done so much good work and she's only just nearing 30. Have you watched My Mad Fat Diary? She's the second lead in that. If you have a VPN, look for "Help" on BBCiPlayer. A young girl with a bit of a chip gets a job in a care home just as the pandemic hits. Talk about funny & tragic all at the same time. Brush up on your Scouse (Liverpool) accent for it. If you're doing Grey's Anatomy I'll definitely subscribe. Sorry again. (PS How long until Jodie becomes Dame Jodie Comer?)
Yes, yes, thank you!! Its been a long time since a show has elicited so much emotion in me! Despite plot issues, I absolutely loved this episode. I am truly grieving not only the loss of Villanelle but the loss of Sandra and Jodie in these roles 😭
Thank you SO MUCH for this comment. Damn. Thank you
excellent, , really thanks you give new points of view, im still hurt, but just we can remenber....
