7-22-2024 The Ridge Motorsports Park. It was Apparently a bit colder and a bit more moist than I anticipated. OPRT does great track days. The Ridge is a world class facility. Lost the rear on a Dunlap slick in 4th gear on a 07 GSXR 600. Uphill, off camber plus a cold track and moist conditions. I'm lucky it wasn't a high side. Ill be back out there soon.

HI COACH
@@santiagobermudez936 yeah guys fast as hell.
i hate when that happens hope your heading some where this weekend
@@bde269 actually did a track day on my street bike. I’ll have some footage up soon from that day. Be safe
Great times sadly I haven't been to the track In a little bit hopefully I'll be back next year year with 2 of my kids so I can get them out enjoy the night
Chumstick hwy from plain to Leavenworth
I see this happen so often on track days where people are pushing on the outlap and it never ends well. My friend took a dip at that same spot 2 yrs ago
That stinks!!! Sorry, man. I'm glad you are ok.
@@carbocycle thanks brother
So many people (me included) have been caught out by that turn in the morning. Glad you're ok
awww throttle too early. That sucks. Lots of people bin it at this corner. I've been to the ridge for MotoAm 2x and I've seen it several times via youtube and that set of corners likes to get people. That and the Chicane too.
Damn crazy someone stopped they usually just leave us there and we wait in the hot sun. My bike would have just been done receding out and blown up. Did your warmers not work or something ?
@@famouslyfamous433 warmers did in fact not work properly. Only got to 150 degrees I came to find out. So I’m gonna go with track day slicks from now on. No warmers needed. It was also cold that day and was misting heavily in that part of the track. So my tires got cold fast.
@@PleatherJacket I hear that I always sit out first session on warmers and always check temp before riding. Metzler makes a great slick that don’t need warmers. Or cup 2 is a good option
@@famouslyfamous433 I went with metzeler TD slicks. My buddy coaches for oprt and has 15 days on his tires with life left. Don’t gotta worry about warmers and temps. I should have never got slicks to begin with but were given to me for free so I figured why not.
@@PleatherJacket yeah I used metzlers till I knew I could keep up a good pace to keep them hot keep at it my guy.
@@famouslyfamous433 thanks bro. Hope to see you out there one of these days. If you see the ugly yellow and green gixxer say hi
PIR ? Would love to bring my cbr1000 out looks awesome 💣BTO end of August😊
This is the ridge. Better than PIR by far
I remember this one. I was grid starting that day. Glad to see your good. Bikes can be fixed!
thanks. respect turn 3!!
I did the same thing in the same place last year but it was worse cuz i only had 45hp lol
@@uncleartax it’s a bastard of a corner lol
what kind of lap times are you running at this pace?
@@theRyckyG idk. If I had a clean run with no traffic probably 2:10 with no chicane
product link. Also intergrated tail light setup??
Motovation.com is where got everything for this bike.
Too much throttle for your lean angle?
@@kylewest4212 semi cold tires, cold track, uphill over a crest, got greedy on the gas. Paid for it
Looked like a case of cold tires 😮 sorry you took a dip! Always a bummer but bikes can be fixed .
To much gas on the lean cold weather/tires? better next time 👌🏼
@@Stridonjerome that pretty much sums it up lol. Cold track. Half warm slicks. Going over a hill.. all bad.
What u think happen? Maybe too much acceleration in the corner possibly? Glad you were good 👍🏾
Up and over a crest with cold tires and track.
You know the rest of the guys in the group were like "every fucking time, on the first lap!"
@@aluisious I’ve almost lost it there before a couple times. This time it finally bit me.
@@PleatherJacket I never ran slicks or warmers, so it would take me a couple laps to get the confidence to toss it off the track.
@@aluisious they aren’t worth it unless it’s super hot out already and you can make pace to keep them warm. Better things to focus on.
Too late for me, similar thing happened to me on the 8th (7-8-2024), mine was a highside though, I dislocated my pinky toe and broke the third and fourth metatarsal bones in my left foot, the breaks are still healing but I'm doing good, I can already walk without protective footwear, albeit carefully and against doctors orders hehe. As for the bike most of the damage was cosmetic but my right clip on is bent, right footpeg snaped off, and my front brakes are basically gone, but the bike was functional enough someone rode it off the track for me.
Sorry about your luck dude. I’m lucky it was a rare rear end low side. Same damage as you, clip on and rear set. Slip on also took the brunt of the blow and accordioned it. Hope to see you back out there brother. Heal fast and stay safe
Aww man. Glad your ok. Hope your bike didnt get too damaged.
@@Tristan-el6hx thanks
Handled it like a champ tho, definitely be like this guy
@@NereidPL thanks dude..
Ah mannn.. Hope you are ok and the bike does not have much damage. These things happen unfortunately.
Yeah I’m good. Suit ripped open at the seam I was grinding on so I got some road rash. Bike is always fixable.
how much damage on the engine?it wasnt redlining when throttle was stuck.
Engine is fine. Throttle was stuck due to the throttle tube being ground into the clip on. Only sat at like 9-10k for a few seconds.
Why the fuck did another rider stop on track? That's what the marshals are for
He is a control rider. (Those are the riders with the blue vest.)
He is a control rider. There was also only 6 bikes in A group that day.
@@PleatherJacket 6 bikes in a group, that's the fucking dream there
@@Dan-hm1dxyeah till you bin it in turn 3 first lap of the 2nd session lol
Sweet bike and track! I am working to get my first track day in on my Ninja 650. Just ordered Michelin GP2s. I heard your engine rev at 0:35 when you gassed that 600 on the turn and that back wheel just broke loose. Sorry man.
@@StreetMotoZ colt track and tires that weren’t heated up all the way. I’m going away from slicks that need warmers, I’m not fast enough on a hot day to keep them hot. Going with track day slicks from metzeler
@@PleatherJacket Thanks PJ, there is much for me to learn about the track. It is a totally different animal than the street.
To Much gas coming out from the curve?
Cold tires, too much throttle
@@rogerdalva19765 the curve of the hill unloads the bike and I was in too hot for the cold track.
@@PleatherJacket Got it, live and learn as you said. Hope i wont make that mistake in the future.
ah that's sad. Really nice of the guy to help you
@@kraftwels it’s his job as a control rider to help out idiots like me.
@@PleatherJacketit happens man don’t beat yourself up to bad. Bike doesn’t look to bad. Do you think you just have it to much throttle in the corner? Was something on the track?
@@alanluscombe8a553cold track conditions along with a half cold slick rear and the corner goes up and over a slight hill. Changing to track day slicks.
Sorry you crashed. I saw the bike on the wall
@@seraphim38 dumb mistake on my end. Didn’t respect conditions and temps. Paid for it. Will return for coaching next time
@PleatherJacket that area is super common for accidents due to the reduced traction from cresting the hill. All the OPRT instructors for your level have tons of experience and if I get assigned i wikl be happy to work with you!
Damn man, had seen your bike in the truck on the way in. Then saw it out there. Was wondering what happened. Glad it was a lowside.
@@SeattleSpeed thanks. Dumb mistake on my part. Learn and move on.
Nice! I have the TPs direct thread cousin, the Half Nelson. I've been thinking of getting the 10.5" AR47 and SS as the cherry on top. I already have a 10.5" 300 blackout with the can but I would also like an 8.5".
hell yeah
LOL. That's Timmy. He's cool. Congratulations on the bump to A, as you earned it. I think you will find OPRT control riders are fun people ;) - However, the pass at 3:57 is not in a safe spot. If I rider has to check up it isn't a safe pass, generally speaking. After going over the hill the ground drops out and you have reduced traction, then as you turn left and try to pass the other rider they are coming out towards you and have to check up. That move could have gotten both you you into a grass warming party. In A group you can get away with it, but it doesn't mean that it is a good idea and in B+ it isn't super great. You can pass on the exit of 4, or on the brakes going into 6, with much less danger. You have great drive up the hill in T9/T10. The rest of the passes look pretty clean, but be aware that passing someone when they are exiting a corner means that they are coming out towards you. It is best to either have the pass complete before the exit of the corner or pass on the inside of the exit so that they are going away from you, not having to check up because you are where they want to be. See you at the next OPRT day!
@@seraphim38 I love coming to OPRT track days. You guys do great work
