I earned my associate's degree from a community college, started Purdue Global in June, and I just graduated with my bachelor's degree in November.

There is a difference between learning facts and learning to think. There should be discussions, collegiality. Will it be PrageraU? College is also about networking. I suspect the plan is to end Pell Grants and federally-subsidized student loans. It doesn’t impress me that Trump University failed in court, and the next Sec. of Ed. Nice video review. FYI: I have varied academic background that includes distance & in-person master's and an in-person doctorate from a number-one-ranked program. Two master's were from WGU--MBA and MSML (~7 yrs ago). I thought they were decently done & good value, esp for the money & being compentency-based (i.e., one can greatly accelerate course/degree completion). However, recently, I decided to get their BS Accounting, & after several terms withdrew just 2 courses short of completion, refusing to donate more money to a HORRIBLY done program. Since starting the program, I've heard from professors, mentors, & students that the last 4 main courses (Cost/Managerial, & the Intermediate I, II, III sequence). Other students & I have complained to mentors, professors, & admin about the greatly flawed degree, but NOTHING changes! In a nutshell...1) The digital texts don't give enough examples or explanations for missed problems on practice exams; 2) The practice exams are sometimes VERY different from the real exams with the real, proctored exams being much harder & emphsizing totally different topics; 3) Insanely, the profs not only DON'T contruct their own exams, BUT they don't even know what's ON the real exams so that they can properly prepare the students; 4) Most live co-hort review sesions AREN'T recorded--though no students are ever even shown because of some administrative idiot thinking & claiming that it violates FERPA (which it does NOT)...though, ironically, occasionally they will record them...but generally they don't, and thus no student can asynchronously listen to a review session later; 5) Live cohorts are almost carbon copies of each other, with profs never adjusting teaching and problems covered to the feedback that students leave on each course site under "Course Chatter" so that others know better how to prepare for the real exams; 6) After complaining to two profs--one via email, & the other via email and phone; left comments on "Course Chatter"; discussed these problems with three mentors; filled out three end-of-term WGU general requests for feedback; and spoke with their Withdrawal Recovery Specialist (who emails students & requests a phone chat with all who withdraw...so that they can try to convince them to continue on and donate more money to them), & the Ombudswoman, who said she'd relay my info and issues to a top person in the accounting department, after 16 days now, I have NOT heard from anyone else! These problems are inexcusable, and as someone who has designed entire college courses, mentored several students, and taught some classes, I find WGU's accounting department to be grossly inept--especially when, as I pointed out to everyone--most everyone KNOWS where most/all of the problems are, and since it would honestly take about one month to fix 80-100% of the issues! Given what all I just shared in the last several sentences, especially given that all of these problems have been known for some time & have easy, fast fixes, I logically am drawn to the most likely conclusion...that WGU purposefully leaves the "bugs" in the program to delay students from graduating, thus making WGU more money. This has actually been mentioned by this channel and another excellent channel in discussing the UMPI changes about a year ago as their program, while still compentency-based, became significantly harder to finish in as short a time as before--thus slowing students down and making UMPI more money. Well, in this case, it's WGU pulling that trick, and I will finish my BS accounting elsewhere that cares a lot more about students and is FAIR with them. I just wanted others to be warned.

I'm stoked on Sophia. I am a GCU student, but I am on a timeline for finishing my Bachelor's degree if I want to maintain the assistance with getting a BS. Without the Sophia courses being accepted, I would not have been able to get my BS in the approved timeframe. An annual payment of $500 dollars has gotten me 6 credits ( a 1/3 of what 3 would cost ), but by the end of this month it will likely be 12 credits. I take the Sophia courses just as seriously as my GCU courses, and I am actually desiring the knowledge. GCU has accepted the last 6 credits without issue too. I know that these introductory classes will be embellished on in my upper classes. People cranking them out in a week, are robbing themselves. Save the PDF lessons and take notes, watch the tutorials. Do the work. I think Sophia is a great path towards achievement. I think college is generally semantics regardless. It is simply to prove you will get the job done. I don't believe a college degree separates people appropriately in and of itself. I know plenty of morons with PhD's.

thanks for the video. But to promote the idea of fast gaining a degree, I believe it would be helpful to distinguish median vs average numbers while interpreting the statistics-as the numbers you’ve been referring to are medians. Otherwise it really backfires.

You never mentioned- what school you went to, what degree you got, and what industry you're in. Some social proof would go a long way.

Have you researched any of these schools? Capella, has been sanctioned and involved in class action suits and scandals for years. All you need to do is look at their wiki page and under controversies, you will be astonished.

College tution is a joke in USA. People get educated for 10% (or less) of the price in cheapest US univ and come here to work. How is this fair for US kids?
