เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 18 ต.ค. 2017
Every episode focuses on a different famous mythological figure. Through atmospheric story-telling we learn the condensed origins of folklore tales from all over the world, and also take a look at varying interpretations, cultural differences, and how the stories have influenced other media.
The 5 minute stories will all be available on the TH-cam channel, or you can listen to the full length podcast they are taken from via Acast, iTunes, and most other places that podcasts are available.
Hosted by Bob Shoy.

Momotaro is trully the GigaChad of Japanese folktales 🍑
Dombra saz! Qaopuz saz! Baghlama saz! And the great grandfather of those, Komuz saz!
I hope she found people she could trust back at her home. She was probably much more wary after that experience.
"What have you got for me", he said before barely escaping the cave with even less than he entered with. Such is the cost of hubris.
Great stuff
Oh no scaring monster that lives in the dark caves.🐘🐍💎
Wow, seems to me like the farmer was just a jerk. Would it not have been better to increase the amount you grow with help from the boggart and then share the rewards? What would the farmer have done if the boggart decided to sabotage the field, since he was basically having it stolen from him
Thanks for introducing me to so many cool mythological figures, fate
Stellaaaaa!!!!
O' holy Lord. O' radiant Lord who grants wisdom, majesty and strength. My heart, my thoughts, and all that I can see. Come, servants of the moon and the stars. My actions, my last moments, my sacred devotion; witness it all. With all my might, I shall release this one arrow- -and let my body be crushed upon this place! STELLA!
Should I dress as the Ankou for Halloween?
YES
Thx@@Cuban20
Lone Meteor, STELLA!
Best farmer ever!
Nice job thanks for posting! Just watched with my kids.
Enjoyed this very much!
I feel like someday La Befana will be given her due. I’m writing a story of witch and demon and angel. It’s about time.
FMF more like shit poop
poop shit
This guy should play Fate and simp Arash with us.
hit me up im in manc
anyone from FGO?
Good video brother 👍🏽
IRAN7500 years old 🔥🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪💪💪😈😈😈😈😈🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷
dissappointed he did not do STELLA!!!!
Who ever like has their iPad upside down
STELLA
This is too scary. There should be a movie about this character.
So well done!!
Loved it! It makes sense for his brothers' in law to be wizards. The version I was first introduced to had some differences. In which, his sisters' husbands were birds. An eagle, a crow and a hawk.
My name is Arash, and this story is what gives me motivation everyday, to work hard and fight for my country and my beliefs 🇮🇷
It's one of my favourite folklore stories.
@@fiveminutefolklore527 so you should read Siavash Kasraei - Arash poem. Its amazing. Unfortunately i couldn't find english translation of it as text
same here my father was going to name me Sohrab but in the end chosen Arash.
@@chrisshervin6795 so why it says chris in your profile
It's my middle name my mother is from Switzerland, but I do have other accounts with my real name.I assume due to the fact you say your fighting for mother Iran you must live there so I'm not sure if you would understand what living in the United States is like.
Scotland ? Isn't this place in Denmark?
The stories are specifically from the Faroe Islands, which are sort of equidistant from Scotland, Norway and Iceland, but are part of the kingdom of Denmark. So the selkie stories are popular in all of those places, but the version I told was from research into Scottish folklore in particular.
I thought the king was Nowzar and not manchehr who took revenge for Araj and killed salm and tur!
That could definitely be true for some versions. Folklore tales vary so much from telling to telling. For my versions I try to just go with the elements that are most common in my research, but many listeners who are familiar with the stories will definitely have heard many different versions.
An obscure folk hero of American tall tales, and worthy of more exposure. Somewhat better known, but still a tad obscure, was Joe Magarac of the steel mills. He would make a fine subject for a similar video. =^[.]^=
What If Ichabod meets the dullahan
That would be insane
<3 this
Thanks :)
I absolutely love this, we lived in Italy for five years, my kids loved the Befana .... such a lovely story ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks, I really enjoyed making this one.
But wasn't Manuchehr one of the best and holy kings of persia. Manuchehr defeated Afrasiabs grandfather (who was son of Fereydun) also I think this war took 60 years till they come to an agreement to end the war. Manuchehr is also known as a pahlewan or something like holy Knight. So him being unjust man doesn't add up but there are different versions of this story so I don't know but most versions depict Manuchehr as just ruler.
Prince Ivan is a fast worker. Wow I didn't even knew of this story. Great. What voice acting!! You are amazing.
Stelllllla!
Stelllaaaaa!!!!
Today, apparently it's Milan Bandić, some of my fellow Croats say.
Explain better?
STELLAAAA!
Huh. A lotta American folk heroes died facing down a machine in a challenge. Stormalong, John Henry, Paul Bunion. Even Casey jones, although that wasn't really a challenge more as he died WITH his machine.
Hi
I thought the story ended where the baby was rescued & became a bard 🤔
it's continued here: th-cam.com/video/zUG3RhT5ik8/w-d-xo.html&t it's broken up here because that's how it was on the original podcast :)
Diolch yn fawr - thank you from Wales! Brilliant and diverse channel!
