Coogee's Lost Whales (Making of) #soundart #soundscape #naturesounds
Making of the track Cooge's Lost Whale made for @Cities_and_Memory this spring, and released as part of their podcast.
In this composition, I re-imagined the soundscape of Coogee's Beach in Australia, recorded by Richard Watts. I imagined that the sound of the waves could carry the sound of the sea's inhabitants. The beach became then a meeting point, an ecotone between the human and non-human worlds. I used a spectral resonator to carve out notes that became the calls and cries of some imaginary whales, and I improvised with the guitar along with it, to position myself as an explorer of this connection, to tell the story of those entities who might struggles to communicate to who does not listen to their voices.
