Dota mentioned !(kinda)
Does this game suffer from complexity bloat?
I mean, yeah, all card games do.
@digivolutionenjoyer no argument there lol. But is it manageable? Mtg adds new keywords every set but they also rotate out keywords so it's not like you have a ton of keywords to keep track in the standard or draft environment from the beginning of the game till the recent set. It feels complex without being overwhelming. I've only played with the st1-st4 with Digimon but some of the newer sets seem way more advanced
@@sakidickerson Seems like on average there is one new keyword per set. Some keywords fall out of fashion after a while but most stick around. There's also occasionally new ways to interact with the board like face up security cards, but IMO these additions happen slow enough that it wouldn't be hard to catch up if you took a break. Comparing ST1-4 to the current sets is like comparing two totally different games honestly. The game is way more advanced, but also more fun. Decks are extremely efficient, combos deal heavy damage, and interaction goes way beyond blowing up the opponent's stack with a high cost option card.
I love Digimon 💓 n wanna try the TCG^^ sooo I enjoyd this vid^^
> "early game aggro with strong lategame control" Isn't that just midrange? (at least what I know about midrange from Yu-Gi-Oh where there is no mana/energy system). I mean unleess the control is a momentary one at the end of the combo (lategame). But lategame sounds like multiple turns in, so more like what a control deck does that keeps the opponent from comboing but also makes small steps towards winning itself. I'm very confused. Is it a deck that does 1 big combo at the start and runs out of gas, does it try to win over many terms (control if I understand it correctly, Yugioh's control deck can not put up powerful boards with a lot of negates that overwhelm the opponent, but if they stop the oppenent, then they can often OTK, which can lead to the game being short making it seem more like an aggro deck) or does it do a mixture of both?
Midrange is not as concrete in Digimon as it is in other games, nobody can really agree on what it means because basically all decks combine elements of aggro and control. The middle of the spectrum is huge while the extreme ends are narrow. Terriermon has strong early game pressure because it can get bodies on the board quickly. Later on MegaGargo Ace and Rapidmon X are annoying and can totally shut down some boards for a limited time. It's still an aggro deck at it's core tho. Armor purge makes attackers hard to remove and the disruption aspects allow even more momentum to be gained.
Excellent video
I just started the game and was watching your videos for the last few days. Lo and behold I came at the right time! Thanks for the content. Personally, I love ramblings, but you do what you enjoy most.
Hello everyone, thank you for your support but this video is very outdated! I made a new video reviewing newer products, you can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/kLf-07Xv2n8/w-d-xo.html
I was … years old when you last uploaded, I’m now … years old when you finally uploaded 🥺👉👈🥺
And you will be even older next time 😌
Getting 2 each of the current newest Decks 18/19 is one of the best decisions. Getting a full playset of the trainings is such a huge plus. It's about 60-70 bucks and you'll get two really fun decks, a full playset of some of the best staples in the game and with the web toon being ongoing and one of the love child's of Bandai currently, decks which will get future support.
Its crazy, you can make your money back on the deck with the Trainings alone. I'm actually surprised they didn't drop in price more.
1:19 To be fair, the Imperialdramon deck, in fact, become stupidly powerful to this day.
I did technically end up being right, but I was referring to the BT12 Imperial stuff which had no meta impact at all lol, very embarrassing
Probably whichever ones hasn't been nerfed, lol
Yeah ST16 may have been halfway decent if the EX5 gabu line wasn't insane
Mono red starter 1 is my favorite
Thanks for the heart, Digivolution Enjoyer.
Hey, I was watching your other starter deck video and in your opinion do you think those decks have some potential in current digimon? I not into the meta but I was just curious about it, specially about imperialdramon deck and mastemon deck(1:21 makes me think this one is suffering), because I think the DNA digivolution mechanic is cool hahaha. I'm asking because I think in the time between this two videos, so much things could have changed and also because in my country the old starter decks are way cheaper than the new ones
Those decks are in the same camp as ST15/16 where the carryover is minimal, so you'll end up replacing 90% of the deck with singles anyway. Upgraded Imperial is one of the best decks right now, but it's fairly expensive. Upgraded Mastemon is very meh. If you're just asking if they're playable, not really. The power level they put out is nowhere close to even modern casual decks, and they are of course outstripped by the other starter decks. Hope I answered your question.
@@digivolutionenjoyer Yeah I imagined they would not be good in the current meta, but even against casual decks? wow, the power levels sure are getting high. Anyway, its nice to see imperial still can be good =) Thanks for answering
@@FiLpLokko Starters are already below casual level, so they really stand no chance against casual decks with 2 extra years of power creep on their side
Man this video came on time you know? Awesome video as always
This guy isn’t qualified to recommend a deck. I’m new to DIGIMON and he never mentioned how many trap cards I should use 😂 welcome back My wife and I started with a green and yellow deck. The newer ones. They were fun but the green was harder to understand
We’re sooooo back
Welcome back! I was hoping you were going to post something soon
The goat is back
Great video but im confused about mons keeping security + 1 efx after they evolvef. Which efx carry over to the evolved mon and which ones dont. Im guessing "this digimon gains" efx always carry over even when evolved
Any effect that lasts until the end of the turn or the opponent's turn stays after evolution. Beelzemon keeps Sec +1 because it lasts for the turn. But if it just had the Sec +1 keyword, it would lose it upon evo.
"Piercing" ... 🥲
Great guide, I come from yugioh and even all the tips you gave c an be applied there.
I havnt played since set 4 holy hell so many new keywords lmao 😅 I'm lost af
I have a video explaining every keyword 👀
Holy.... I consume a lot of card game videos ranging from the Austin Powers Card game to MTG, and this is LITERALLY the best deck building content i have ever see in like 22 years of card gaming.
This was very helpful. I'm just getting into this
What would happen if the attack target is deleted before the attack ends? Do you redirect the attack to another digimon or security or does the battle just end? Scenario: im playing jesmon my brother is playing armor purge veemon. I swing at a suspended armor purge digimon and use bao huckmons source effect to delete a 6000 dp or less digimon i pick the one I'm attacking so he'll armor purge through effect deletion and then jesmon will pierce through veemon. But what happens if he just lets the digimon im attacking be deleted by baohuckmons effect and chooses not to armor purge?
Since the target no longer exists, the attack ends. No checks are performed.
Thanks for spelling all of this out! You did a great job highlighted all the strengths and shared elements of each color as well as how some of the prominent archetypes work for starting out. (Also, I'm sort of brainstorming my idea for a new color so seeing these existing strategies laid out is helpful.)
very informative video! good work! Might have been useful to see a few examples of cards for each mechanic even if it were redundant, so someone like me who is just learning about the game might have more references to look at, but still, very cohesive video
Are you forced to use collision when attacking? Or you can chose not to?
It's mandatory
1:58 agumon is a dinosaur
I like terriermon so i play terriermon 🥺
Too many ads :C
Really? I just left it on auto, I thought it would only show one.
Wait, so blitz omni when digivolving blitz When digivolving unsusbend this digimon, I have teresolve blitz before I resolve the unsasbend part ?
No you do not. Because they trigger at the exact same time, you can choose the order. Either unsuspend then Blitz or Blitz then unsuspend
team yellow here!! just started learning & playing digimon tcg, even taught my relatives how to play them, it's so fun! my starter deck is ST3 heavens yellow :3 💛
Digimon lookin good nowadays … I haven’t held a card since like 2002
really love your content!
The fear I felt as a Magic player hearing that one of the main types of deck in this game is "stax". Thank God I misheard.
Hope you cover the Terriermon Advanced deck in the future! Just bought it as my first deck
I have a community post about it with some information. Not making a video specifically for it but it will appear in my next starter deck video after the Liberator decks come out. Hope you enjoy the game!
For the algorithm
👾
Ok if I have a green and black leo line but I mix it with my green and yellow leomon line would that be a problem
If you're talking about the EX5 line, they're meant to be used together so go for it.
There should be a keyword for a card having every effect in the game like magnamonx It has blocker/reboot/unaffected by everything/gains atk/and more
But there is huge powercreep now with cards like magnamonx winning you the game on its own!
