Wallace Idaho to the Blue Heaven Cabin via Avery Idaho on my Honda 300l with the gang!
After leaving Pierce you’ll be entering the Idaho Panhandle and are in for a real treat. The towns in section 7 are some of the quaintest in the state, so take the time to wander around. Along the way you’ll pass by the Blue Heaven Cabin. This rustic shelter is privately owned so take a photo to remember this special place and be on your way.
Forest roads climb and descend a few times before reaching the town of Avery. There you’ll have a store with food and fuel and a unique train car with information on the history of the area.
Just north of Avery there are two route options. One goes through former railroad tunnels on a wide dirt road and the other is an easy narrow double-track along the eastern shore of the North Fork St Joe River. Both options are worthy of your time and you can do both by looping back as each one is only about five miles long. After crossing over Moon Pass, this road descends to the historic town of Wallace.

West Fork Big Smoky and Big Smoky Creek Single Track on My Honda 300L
มุมมอง 335หลายเดือนก่อน
This ride starts at the end of Smiley Cr Rd and goes up the West Fork of the Big Smoky River then heads down the mountain to connect with the Big Smoky Creek. We ended our ride coming out at the Chemeketan Campground. This trail is a lot of fun but very challenging because of narrow tracks and big boulders.

Idaho State Penitentiary

Built in 1870, the Old Idaho Penitentiary is one of only four territorial prisons open to the public today. During its 101 years of operation, the site saw escapes, scandals and the effects of Boise’s transition from the “wild west” to a mid-20th century capital city. Step inside the four walls of the prison yard and imagine a life of confinement as steel doors close behind you.

In the mid summer of 2022, I fought a big 20,000+ acre fire that swept through that area of Dead horse cave and Tea kettle cave. There used to be beautiful old growth sage brush that was on average 4-5 feet tall. In some places, the sage brush was over 10 feet tall and 110+ years old. Beautiful country before the fire completely nuked the area. Now it's all grassland.

My wife and I were there that day of the dead elk. We didnt approach it or anything, seemed kinda weird to go see a dead animal. Otherwise it was a great trip and experience. Saw Yellowstone for 2-3 days and the Tetons for about a day and a half. I bet we hiked 20 miles or more that week. Oct 2nd-6th. Most of it was around Jenny Lake at the Teton Park. Sometimes I hop on checking out these vlogs in hoping to see us in the background or in the car driving by lol.. Thanks for sharing your video!
