Lao Wishing Dance (Ouay Phon Pi Mai)
Yesterday I had the honor to perform Ouay Phon Pi Mai at Crafton Hills College, the version I performed was originally choreographed by Koo Jimmy Sengthavorn. My teacher who now helps host and instructs in Murfreesboro, TN for their annual big Lao New Year celebration.

This was our second song performed on Saturday, this song may be called as many names by others, but we know it as The Shrimp Dance. Performance also originally taught by Koo Jimmy Sengthavorn and passed down. Thank you Koo Jimmy for allowing us to perform this song step by step. Us lao’s we like to be a little fast in dancing and our culture is just so powerful and have a lot of energy this is a good way of showing other ppl our dance moves from other countries and they did a perfect job and they wore the clothes the correct way!❤
