The combat whip is ideally suited for close range combat, and is intended to be used in the same way that a martial arts Gi is used when a grappler is choking their opponent

Having a background in martial arts, I've always loved snake whips and practicing with them from a self defense perspective. I'm currently practicing with a 3.5ft snake whip with a shot loaded core. The crack definitely adds an intimidation factor to the whip and the solid end your whip has behind your hand is a great added melee weapon.
Does your shop take custom orders? I’m poor king for tan and beige
I used to offer custom & back orders but since I make them in batches when I can make time for it there was no good way to offer a reliable timeframe. Some people had to wait months and I don't like doing that to anyone. I'm working on a new set now so I'll see if I've got those colours in stock.

So, its hojojutsu with striking and whipping?
With all the people I've talked to about this you're the first to mention hojojutsu, I had to look it up. From what I found it looked like everyone was using long thin cord to entangle multiple limbs to restrain people. My whips are typically 4ft long and the thick heavy handle section wouldn't tie in a knot. However the loop I use on the thin end of the whip would create a noose that will tighten around a neck or wrist. So you could anchor that end and wrap the rest of the whip around a limb or two. You would just need something extra to secure it if you wanted to let go. Sometimes I use a carabiner clip through the handle ring so there is always a possibility for integrating some of those techniques. My focus has been to use the body of the whip for choking techniques similar to how you would use the gi during grappling.
@@CombatWhips Hojojustu is pretty obscure and only covered in passing in some Kobudo dojos. I learned some entangling stuff and found it very effective when used that way, essentially you just help the opponent entangle himself and that leads into a choke and then tying up completely. What you have reminds me of a Sjambok but with the addition of striking and choking, pretty interesting!

South Africa has a traditional combat whip called a "shambok" also known as a "seekoei" translating to Hippo, because its made with hippo hide.
