Incredible!
I love all of these blades!
Gorgeous piece as usual! Thanks for sharing!
That wood is singing. Brilliant 👏
Man, that's clean. Beautiful knife. 💪
How much would you charge usually to build one of these?
@@danielmcgowan8445 350.00
@@HeavyForge how do I purchase one?
@@danielmcgowan8445 PayPal works, these are all sold and I’ll be making more in a few weeks as I already have more orders for these blades.
Ive never seen Karelian birch look like that one! Beautiful
@@Labrador_Forge I know! I believe it’s cross cut as well, but I buy it when I can and that stuff goes fast!
@@HeavyForge I'm going to need to try and find some!
@@Labrador_Forge I buy from Karelian birch stab on IG.
Shout out from the Dallas area!
Nice bit of crucible steel right there.
What is wetting the hammer before striking for? Also i see a lot of videos where they use ?Borax? between the folding. Is there a traditional equivalent or is this a modern invention?
@@PrometheusV the water helps clean the steel surface of scale. When the water is hammered it explodes into steam removing the scale. Traditionally rice straw ash and a clay slurry were used as a flux. Thanks for watching!

It can be a greatest Viking sword I have ever seen in TH-cam. I think u should make a Viking shield too. Greetings from Türkiye.
@@cuneyd5901 hello! Greetings from Alaska! Thank you and thanks for watching!
Very nice. About that weight - the whole point of a sword is that it isnt too heavy. The stronger you are, the faster you're supposed to be. A sword is not a blunt instrument.
@@snookiewozo thanks for watching!
"Questions" I got none, "comments" when you wrapped the core yeah that really annoyed me to, almost ticked me off that that was the slow point in the vid but at the same time I enjoyed it because you were descriptive in the beginning when you mixed you're metal and you explained the science of it all. No good build/forge should be without a lil struggle and some work and you nailed it pretty good though that should minimize as you get more experienced you did say this was you're first sword after all. I enjoyed it.👍
That’s actually dope keep it up brother
@@Muthanna-12 thank you! and thanks for watching!!
Okay guys. You are apocalyptic wasteland rusty scrap bladesmiths. Go! *5 dudes fire up their CNC machines and 3D printers*
@@ulfhedtyrsson 😂 The idea of this challenge is to only use scrap for the project. Or some part of scrap needs to be used. I will only be using scrap for my build but I have no idea what I’m making so far.
Excellent
Beautiful work.
Interesting. I learned more about Wootz. Thanks.

How much to make me an awesome sword?
@@columbiawarmachine9795 there pretty expensive. I don’t typically make swords my bread and butter is hunting knives.

Would you consider selling any wootz steel ingots?
@@Marc-qo1gz I’ve been hesitant as it’s really easy to screw up and I don’t want to blamed.
Ok
I’m curious how this form of steel responds to other forms of hardening, like peening out the edge as in scythe blades, or hammer hardening as I’ve seen in some bronze blades.
“I’ll just make my own steel, cause it’s cool”… you my friend are both a little crazy, and a little mad scientist. 😉🤣.
@@TyrellKnifeworks 😂 Thanks for watching Denis!
What is te wattage when there is no piece of metal in the coil ?
Fuller under the guard is ugly and lazy poor design
That’s how they were made historically, the fuller ran all the way into the tang. Plenty of literature out there on Viking era swords to educate yourself, if you can read.
I love the metallurgy. Thanks for sharing your work. Would definitely appreciate more process videos and resources for making crucible steel- sounds like it’s in the works. Cheers 🤙🏻
