I don't know. I usually play with only the widescreen patch if the game doesn't have native widescreen. USA games usually have higher fps if that's what you mean.

If by stretched you mean the 2d elements of the game, then that's normal. The widescreen patches only really work for the 3D polygons.

@@inktendo I just tried it and you're absolutely right. The patches were active, I wonder what happened, no idea. I tried in the latest nightly v2.3.100 and it looks good.

A chd file is a file converted from a dumped file.

The ps1 crash games are really goood.

In theory you could have the UI elements from the remaster but it would have to be modified to fit the 4:3 resolution.

@ what if I had them in tandem with the widescreen patch. Hmm but the menu is still technically 4:3 so I’d have to import all of those elements too plus make them set to squish so that they stretch to 16x9 correctly. Hmmmm

@@pcsx2gameplays There's an untitled X project that pretty popular which brings in the ingame cutscene face from the ps2 and replaces the static face in the remaster, but thats a half measure. im mostly happy with the pcsx2 experience. at this point im just striving for perfection and its unrealistic lol

@@jchunter93 Hmm, I see, then maybe I was just using Analog to Mouse, I don't really remember. I know that that mouse injector works with the GameCube (Dolphin Emulator) Version of TS:FP, but has it's problems, also.

@@pcsx2gameplays I figured it out. You cant run the emulations from desktop mode, has to be run from steam mode in order to use the global graphics settings. Works fine if ran from deck mode, but annoying because its much harder to access the settings that way.

@@pcsx2gameplays Yes, but the native widescreen crops the top and bottom images (gameplay) to fit the 16:9 ratio.

Nope. It only turns the 3D parts of the game into widescreen. No way to fix the 2d elements.

@@elitedeadlockedhd2007 No. Widescreen hacks or patches do not correct 2d elements. There are games that have native widescreen that when you change to widescreen in game it also changes the 2d ui elements. I think Fifa 14 does that, if I'm not mistaken.

@@CrashRatchet008 That's because those games have real in game widescreen. When you change to widescreen in game it also changes the 2d elements to widescreen.

I don't think that all ps2 native widescreen games crop the image. I know for sure that some do. Widescreen patches can fix that and also enable widescreen for games that never had native widescreen.

They are in full widescreen! If you're talking about the black borders on top and bottom, that's part of the game. They use that so the cutscenes have that cinematic look.

Not true. PCSX2 version still has this weird artifacting on the 2D UI, especially in the menu that can make some of it unreadable. And the widescreen doesn't work inside a lot of rooms. None of those issues exist on Steam.

@@ulfrinn8783 These issues are minor compared to the graphical upgrades you get with PS2. Not only do the faces and hair look correct, but the post-processing, lighting and VFX are better on PS2, which is the case with pretty much every PS2 remaster. The hardware was incredibly specific and thus remasters can't get the effects right, many are either missing or render incorrectly. The issues you mentioned will be eventually fixed.

@@VergilHiltsLT The difference is, you can mod that stuff back in for the PC version. You however cannot fix the issues with the PS2 version. In fact, I've modded the PS2 faces back into my playthrough of FFX.

@@ulfrinn8783 You cannot mod PS2 VFX into the PC version. There are only mods to restore character faces but the post-processing, lighting and other advanced VFX cannot be restored. It would require an insane amount of reverse-engineering to bring these back to the PC version, and it changes the way the game looks entirely. UI is nothing compared to aesthetics and huge graphical changes that affect the whole game. Like I said before, this is the case with pretty much every PS2 remaster, due to specific PS2 engineering which made porting those effects a nightmare. As a result, developers either scrapped them entirely or made inferior-looking versions.

I mostly just upscale the graphics to 4k.
