Brilliant to hear, prep well, clean well, buy good rollers curved at ends not square. Let us know how you get on.
This video has given me so much confidence that I now feel I can hand paint my 1998 Land Rover Defender. Thanks guys very much appreciate, and I will have a Whiskey to hand. Regards Isle of Man
air
Its for yer sunroof! To colse it in the rain and the batterys flat
Ah, that could come in handy! Good to know, thanks.
I was about to post my p38 also came with an ‘Action man Axe’ so must be Range Rover related! Now I know what it’s for 👍 Brilliant videos! Keep them coming!
100% keep the EAS - we are going to retrofit EAS back in the LSE that we have, a previous owner downgraded to coils. If you buy height sensors for £120 from any of the main vendors at the moment, they supply what appear to be P38 sensors but with a modified bracket. P38 sensors are about £40, and the only difference is the mounting bolt pattern. Someone smart has come up with a mounting plate to translate from P38 to RRC and is uplifting the price massively.
My concern was that the output readings for the P38 would be different but I guess EASunlock can be used to address any issues there. Will be a learning curve :)
Definitely retain air suspension, it can’t be beyond your skills to fabricate the small parts you require, have you considered 3D printing? Superb video stories.
Will investigate printing flexible stuff, something I haven't tried yet on the printer. Thanks for the comment.
Please please please keep the EAS!!!! The system is similar to the P38 which it was designed for by LR. The real problem you will have with converting an EAS can back to springs is the boge high control is not there so you sort of end up with a bit of mongrel…. If the system is working then I’d say replace the bags yes 30 years of wear and tear on rubber bladders is understandable. The pumps and dryers aren’t that dear now either as they are simple P38 items. I watched your first episode and was yelling at the tv to SHUT THE DRIVERS DOOR so the system would raise for you !!! Hahah it’s a safety feature the system will freeze if the doors are open. You are probably aware of this by now. Good luck with this lovely original classic !!!!
:) you were not the only one shouting "SHUT THE DOOR" at the screen. Yeah not having the Boge system would mean air ballons for when towing, not great idea at all, will persevere.
A very nice 110" Series IIB Forward Control. I'd love to have one of these. Conversely, I've never had any interest in the 101" Forward Control. Don't know why, I just know it never suited my fancy as the 110 Series IIB's did. Great video! Thanks for showing! Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii, USA.
More videos set in scenic locations of doing the impossible, to most people. Landrovers optional, but appreciated.
We'll see what we can do, you never know Billy got the itch so who knows where we will find one.
My disco 2 is called peaches 😂
So is it peachy or a lemon :)
Glen Hurich Above Strontain?
Good spot
I had one of these with the 200tdi engine, drove it home 380 miles bent like a banana from deepest Cornwall. Taped a tarpaulin over the bent doors and roof, drove really well. I also had one with a Mazda Perkins diesel, it would climb a cliff, bloody noisy though. Good film and location, got any more like this?
More Range Rovers or more videos 😂
That must have been an epic trip, take it wasn't recent, can't imagine you'd get away with that these days 😀
@@WonkyWillowWorkshop No bought when I worked in Cornwall in 2003. It had gone off the road towing a four wheel trailer with a classic car on it and slid sideways into a tree hitting, the B pillar. Bent the chassis, both doors and roof. I pulled it out in my back yard, new doors and roof, re-bent the chassis on a home made jig, made from a factory roof stanchion found in the scrap skip, and a winch bolted to the concrete floor. It was still mot'd, and not on the insurance register. One of three Rangerovers I bought down there over time.
That is a belter of a rrc gentlemen!! Very nice original condition And an M57 will make it amazing!💪💪💪👍
Will see how we get on, the V8 sounds amazing and only has about 11k miles on it!
I started to watch your video to add to all the others I've watched to gain as much information on hand painting with coach paint. By the time the video had finished I couldn't have cared less what it was about as I found you both very entertaining. I did however find the straight no nonsense talking great and I think I shall have a couple of whiskey before I start painting my project vehicle. I'm therefore looking forward to seeing your future videos. Cheers Guys.
Will have a catch up with the progress of "Chestnut" soon.
What a Beautiful Little Car and Great Owner/Builder .
It is, and lovely to trial too!
Great event! What is the name of this event, and where is it?
Hi it is tyro trials with the Scottish Land rover owners club ....if you join the club the calendar is full every wkend of different events from island trips to trials
That Landrover might be the reason I became addicted to the brand. I remember seeing one in the early 60 at my grandparents farm on Lismore and wanted one. I still have various landrovers 2 on Lismore I have been driving them since 1984. A long list started with a 6 cyl 109 to many to mention still have a 110 12 seater a series 2a ( bitsa) a series 3 and reciently a RR l322. ( love it by the way) keep landrovering.
Looks like you can look forward to having it back on the island soon 😀
We took A 90 up Ben Nevis in 92 hold the record for it, that was set in 1928,
Don't suppose you know where the 90 is?
most things are "genuine". That they may be, but - TD5 servo - power steering - electric fan - defender axles
You forgot the engine and gearbox. The axles are actually genuine article, they were precursors to those used on the 90/110s. Maybe not for the purists but the mods make it a much more driveable and useable machine that gets plenty of annual mileage under its belt as opposed to sitting in a shed.
And the shot of the side fuel tank was of a 101 F, in the original position... Just two old limy farts babbling away...😂😂🇿🇦
so young. I'll be following the link, though first i will share this. PLEASE pass it on to Jim and his family: Grab a ph test kit from the chemist.. even high school labs have litmus paper. Cancer can NOT survive in an alkaline environment. He has an 'acidic' system. He must neutralize the acidity then move his ph to 7.0 or better. It takes three (3) days to achieve. I have treated and survived this. Love your work.. especially the 101FC! Crackin truck. God bless you all.
Always good to see a classic Land Rover in its natural environment. They're so rare in Canada that they tend to be trailer queens and museum pieces.
They really should be out getting used, particularly when you have such fantastic landscape to use them in.
Hello from Australia, Love this kind of thing.....more please😁👍
More on the way 😀
Been there done that. Great business for local garages..
6:04 just watched the forward control. Why did you not show any of the action? Lots of Andy and you. No course. No vehicle.
You didn't watch until 8.20 then 😀 keep watching.

Awesome video! As a Scottish classic Land Rover owner I am going to be really enjoying your videos and hopefully some events in the future.
Great to hear, what classic LR have you got?
@@WonkyWillowWorkshop I have a 1983 110 (stage 2) and a 1969 S2a (although the S2a is off the road right now)
Nice, you can never just have 1 land rover 😀
That’s my friend Ben ,, ridden in that to the pub many times,, I love it
Bigger question is how did you get back? :)
@@WonkyWillowWorkshop Ben used to come back for us ,, top guy , glad to see this video
Proper day out by the looks of it. Lots of respect for all involved in organising the events. Hopefully one day in the not too distant future I will get to have a go at a trial for the first time
Its a great chilled day out, hope you get out soon.
Beauty ,my fave colour 😍
Don't see that colour option in the showroom these days.
Wow..this is a great party 🎉
It's a great day out slippin' and slidin'
I wrote a story on a volvo laplander special project vehicle
Be good to get to read about it. Any more info?
@@WonkyWillowWorkshop I think I gave the magazine to my grandson but I shall look to see if I have another copy of it as I used too write for military machines international when I wrote it
Nice. Volvo should start building these for the private market. Just a minor update to a very basic but extremely practical model. The outdoors and agricultural market would be all over them.
Not much out there similar on todays market
Hello ! In Sweden it's called "valpen" the poppy ! Awesome engines.
Hi, great to hear from you over in Sweden! Now we know the nickname for the laplander "poppy", think those engines are used in many applications including boats!
@@WonkyWillowWorkshop Not poppy, but "puppy", the dogs' baby. In Swedish "valpen". 🐶😉 The engine is the same B18 that is in VOLVO PV, DUETT, AMAZON, P1800 and 142/144/145 between 1961-1968 👍
@@WonkyWillowWorkshop yeah, and in almost every models from the 122 "Amazon" to the 140 - 145 / 240 - 245 well in to the 1980's with some slight changes through the years. And of course the P 1800 model as well. 👍🙂. And if you take good care of the engine it will almost go on forever ♾️
a proper volvo refurb and it will last another 30+ years. remove all paint and rust, maybe some rust repair
Yes, a good project for someone at some point.
Hi Neil, if you are ever round Montrose way worth a look at Steptoe's yard very similar but less organised, so much stuff !
Sure, will look that up thanks.
superbe engin ! un vrai collector ! 🔵⚪🔴
Hi i asked about the palm tree some say its for middle eastern land forces was used in the sixtys in Aden and sharjah or was used by 2 field sqn RE hope this helps
Thats brilliant! Thanks for that, will let Dave know.
I've always wanted a pair of C303 axles for a Landy project, saw a few items of interest in there, noteably the Jeep 4x4 sign although I like most automotive signage anyway, thanks for the look round, I could spend hours looking through all the stuff.
Thanks for the comment, even when editing the video I spotted things I hadn't noticed when I was there, so much interesting & unusual stuff.
The plam tree will be from a army unit I'll ask on the baor site some one on there will be able to tell me ok
Fingers crossed, it would be great to find out thanks.
Typical Jock , born with a dram in his hand.😂😂😂
Oh, you got that right :)
I used to own a one tonne. With knocked winch , I spent two weeks stripping paint of it , luckily got some IRR olive drab paint , amazing stuff , covered in one application with a brush , it leaves no brush marks , great truck and miss it a lot , look after that one as you’ve done a great job 👍😉
Thanks for your comments, they are cracking big motors and such fun. Will make sure Dave sees your kind comments ta!
Where do I find a translation? ❤❤❤
I dont need one my father and law was Scottish. Couldn't understand him at the start.
Drink whisky and all will become comprehensible.
Hope it gets an age related plate and not a Q plate.
Fingers crossed, should do, got all the paperwork.
Hello Spike from Spike : )
bravo les artistes ! superbe chantier ! 🔵⚪🔴
He's very skilled!
What a fabulous truck ! And I have to admit to experiencing some serious workshop envy…very civilised with the table lamp and single malt 👌🏼
Yeah Dave's garage doubles up as a nightclub 😀
no they are never called cab over engine, they are called Forward Control What Americans call things that are not American is a reflection of the narrow mindedness of Americans. Great shame that you are so desperate for a US You Tube audience you pitch this titled incorrectly, but then I suppose, as you are Scottish, acknowledging the British heritage of a vehicle is probably beyond your xenophobic capacity. It is a 101 FORWARD CONTROL - end of discussion
Sorry you have such a jaded lookout on life but thanks for your view and comment however misguided.
Just beautiful what are the seats they look comfortable? 😍
Easy to get, Britpart deluxe seats, link here www.paddockspares.com/mrc6982h-deluxe-outer-seat-highback.html
Good to see one built from bits and not a complete 80" series one made into a trialer, enough was in the 60's and 70's and totally wrecked.
Looks like a Billy to me
What do you mean? Auld n decrepit but shiney underneath?
Honestly the Ibex which its based on has a better looking front end. Fingers crossed this takes off as it’ll be a great Scottish workhorse
