Here, you will find mostly GoPro (Hero 10 Black) and drone (DJI Air 2s) videos of natural areas in southern New Mexico. Many of the videos mix ground and aerial footage, sometimes with still photographs sprinkled in. Music comes from Freemusicarchive.org (FMA). Thanks go to the folks at FMA and Creative Commons.

Discovery Site Geology
This is a short GoPro video showing some of the Geology at the Discovery site. The trail goes by a hill containing disintegrating columnar basalt. The location is the Prehistoric Trackways National Monument near Las Cruces, NM, USA.

Picacho Mountain Geology

Today's video is a short slideshow of photos taken on a hike up Picacho Peak. It's the one near Las Cruces, NM. (There are other Picacho Peaks.) This focuses on the rocks and the rock formations. I did include one cactus, an Arizona Fishhook cactus. It was the only flowering plant I saw today. Soundtrack: Autumn Leaves, by Maarten Schellekens, from the Free Music Archive. La Cueva Middle Trail
มุมมอง 558 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a short (1-mile round-trip) hike to an unmarked trail at La Cueva. It's within the Dripping Springs Natural Area, which itself is within the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. The path gains about 80 feet of elevation, and is entirely non-technical, although there are some steep rocks. Light scrambling is required. There's a GPS track at the end.

Nice view 🤘
Lots of folks gave died climbing those mountains
Is that an eagle's nest?
It is a a jumble of sticks, but most of it is a dead ocotillo, hence it is full of thorns and not suitable as a nest.
It would be really cool to find an Eagle's nest there.
These rock shelters or caves were a natural surviving spot during very bad weather conditions. But also a hiding place during the most dramatic event in the history of mankind. That is the crossing of planet 9 that occurs every few thousand years. It is recurring in a cycle of seven thus it is predictable but inescapable. That planet 9 is orbiting our sun in an eccentric orbit so it crosses close to our sun at a very high speed. Due to the gravitational force it causes a huge tidal wave, storms, rains, flooding and earthquakes in unprecedented amounts and a bombardment of fiery meteors. Only people who are in a shelter with a very strong roof, a mountain above your head will do, survive this disaster. The last peak of the cycle occurred in the year 10,844 BCE, Another result is a cycle of civilizations. This is ancient knowledge that is available for everyone who is searching for it but that is forgotten, neglected or denied by all scientists. To learn much more about planet 9, the recurring flood cycle and its timeline, the rebirth of civilizations and ancient high technology, read the e-book: "Planet 9 = Nibiru". This book answers many of your questions about ancient history. It can be read on any computer, tablet or smartphone. Search: invisible nibiru 9
Beautiful wide open country...very interesting geology and it's fun to stop and check out the wildflowers. Do you take a GPS unit with you?
Yes, I use a Garmin Vivoactive watch, which keeps a complete route, and a Garmin InReach Explorer+ which only records a waypoint every few minutes, but runs for days and has satellite messaging. Cell phone services in these places is not at all reliable.
It would be so nice without music.
A ruined landscape. Such a shame.
how "ruined"?
Does this cave have some kind of history to be named Branson or the canyon it resides in? The landscape was beautiful and the mountains outlined was a treat to see.
The canyon it's in is called Branson Canyon. I don't know why. Although Sir Richard Branson's Spaceport America is nearby, the name was there before the Spaceport, so that's not it. A lot of the geological features around here that have Anglo names were named after ranchers who grazed cattle in the area, so I've always assumed that is the case here.
It has its own beauty!
Is this in utah?
It's in New Mexico.
I’m in vernal Utah 😂
I have been looking for something that would tell me the distance of the Arroyo trail. I went to the Arroyo bed that was full of rocks. We were heading to the Fillmore trail.
The BLM has a PDF brochure here: www.blm.gov/new-mexico-las-cruces-do/public-room/brochure/dripping-springs-natural-area-history-brochure. It has a map that shows the length of each trail. The Arroyo trail is 0.6 miles long. That gets you to the Fillmore Trail (turn left) and it's another mile to the waterfall.
Beautiful
Thank you now I know what direction to go next time I go , I couldn’t figure out where the discovery site was

One more wonderful impressions of nature and landscape!
Sierra Vista trail? Just a guess as I've never done it, but I've wanted to.
It actually on the unmarked trail that runs along the north edge of La Cueva. Not the lower trail that goes to FIllmore Canyon, but the one that branches off to the east on the west end of the formation. The other end of the trail, again unmarked, is at the place where the Crawford trail intersects the Fillmore trail. THe view from the Sierra Vista trail, between Dripping SPrings Rd and Soledad Canyon Rd, is similar, but not as dramatic because it's farther from the Organs and at a lower altitude.
@@JosephYaroch ah good to know. I've been back there behind La Cueva but it's been a few years. Time to go back evidently. :) ty for the reply
Great stabilisation of your GoPro! & Nice impressions in a wonderful landscape. Sunny greetings Lobo
The desert is beautiful, thanks for sharing! I was actually planning on checking out this area with some friends in the near future :)

nice! I fly once in a while. will send you some local tips.
Congratulations. Can't wait to see it if we see you again soon.
This was a very nice hike. It had a certain element of adventure to it, as we had to discover some of the route.
The terrain is just so difference than the Organ mountain hiking trails. The vegetation is more sparse also.
Nice hike video, it is just like I took my second hike this week.
What is the music?
Hi Dr Yaroch!! You are awesome. Gosh I wish I could travel to see you for my treatment. I have had a terrible time over the years with mismanaged meds. I ended up in the hospital for the first time in by q
