Getting to La Gruta by bus from San Miguel de Allende (or how to get to Escondido Place)
WE TRIED ATHLETIC TAPE DIDN'T WORK. WAS GOING FAST DOWN TRAIL DESCENDING, WENT OVER ROCKS FLEW IN THE AIR AND CAME DOWN LANDED ON THE BAR CRUSHED MY BALLS AND CRASHED INTO THICKET OF THORN BUSHES. MY RIDING BUDDY WAS GOING OVER SAME ROCKS, SEAT CAME OFF AND LANDED ON THE SEAT POST UP HIS BUTT. RUINED HIS PANTS AND OUR DAY. BOTH BIKES WERE TOTALED.
Never understood why people cut their handlebars.
Love this lady. Am getting my Roscoe 7 in 6 weeks after the last payment.
Just picked up this bike today - Thank you for making the video! (Still helping 2 years later)
Now that makes a lot of sense!
This was Fabulous Just what I was looking for Could have used the names of the roads where you got of the bus I normally photo those , Thank you very much.
Great video
Tks for this. Do you know which city bus Ruta nr you took back into town?
Is it the 2021 Roscoe ? Because they 2022 model is elongated at the bottom.
yes 2021
how do you adjust the seat lower? im brand new to MTB and got the Roscoe 7, but the 6-8nm guard (dont know what this thing is called) seems to prevent the seat post from going lower. Looks like yours is removed? Don't know how to take it off
I'm not familiar with a seat guard. I can lower mine 2 ways - loosening the tensioner on the seat post and letting the post slide further in before tensioning again. I can adjust the seat height on the fly by pressing in the seat lever on the left of my handlebars. For it to lower, I have to use my body weight on the seat while pressing the lever. If I don't use my body weight the hydraulic shoots the seat back up! It's fun tech!
Always wanted the Aloha green/battleship grey color, ended up getting boring gunmetal grey one 😂 Have fun modding/riding!
Aw yeah I love this color. I lucked out. Maybe your next ride you'll get it. With Bianchi you can get it more readily! Happy trails!
Great way to race prep is grab a cheap trainer throw in a smooth tire rear and do reps 30 sec on 30 sec slow down recovery 20mins building up or 15/15 sec the same using a cad HR cyclometer, that bike looks nice
?
How do you like the Roscoe so far?I have been checking out the Marlin...
It's been great. Maybe I'll pass on to my partner and upgrade. I love that it has brazons to consider some bikepacking!
I have exactly the same bike, and full upgrade to 👍
What upgrades did you do? Were they all worth it?
My bar is a 30mm rise 760mm. Common mistake when new riders' bars are too long, ie stock 800mm!
Thanks for sharing your preferred specs.
love it!
thanks
Just as a reference how tall are you? I see you have a medium bike
I'm just under 5'4
Luv it 💓 What a warrior what a great lady who knows her stuff & bikes ...Nice Trek / funky colour nice! 🇮🇪
Yeah - I love this Bianchi-esque colour. Be well.
I normally ride Specialized however I've been studying (obsessing over) the Roscoe series. I've narrowed it down to the 2022-23 7 or 8. That frame looks like the current Roscoe 6.
Good luck on your journey!
Which bumper rack did you buy?
I have a 1up. It's great. Made in the US :)
I used a hacksaw instead and a handlebar guide to make sure it stayed straight. It took maybe one minute to saw through. And yeah don't touch the ends after cutting but file it down first and wipe the shavings.
Great idea for those that have those items or want them and have storage for them. The key is making your bike more suited to you. Love it. (How much did you cut off?)
For those who don't know. Don't touch or rub the metal shaving of the cut or area as the metal will cut or impel your hand or fingers.
Yes! No need to examine appreciate your cut by rubbing it, unless you want metal splinters or skin damage
nice ride, who else keeps their bike in the house? lol I do!
Not in the house, if I don't have to, but definitely not outside!
Your riding outfit looks nice
Ha - repping my Guatemlan roots. Also I clearly didn't bike far!
Maybe your fearsome guard dog scared everyone away :)
Could be...
I enjoyed this conversation. Thanks, Elle.
Thanks so much for watching/listening! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I just dropped a new one. I think you'll like it as well!
Fixing bike = happy music. Fixing finger = helicopter.
I take my health very seriously! 😄
Great idea! Never thot about cutting the handlebars to shorten it. I'm a smaller rider and the handlebars definitely feel too wide.
Give it a try and let me know what you think. It's all the rage right now for them to be super wide and if you don't have a women's specific bike, it's not made with you in mind. Happy riding!
@@theellebottrell Yep, it's all about marketing trends. They had suddenly decided to convince the people that super wide handlebars are much better. Wrong. The best width is the width you prefer and depends a lot on your body shape and size. I am a 5'8 normal build guy and my MTB handlebars are 680mm wide and I find them very comfortable for me. These days they are selling 800mm wide handlebars and even wider!! Lol ridiculous imho. Same like MTB wheel sizes. To me someone who is 5'5 tall looks funny riding a 29'er .... but that's just me and to each their own. I ride 27.5 which I find perfect for my height. Nice video well done 👍✅
𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖒𝖔𝖘𝖒
Cool .
👋 thanks for watching
You lost me. Have fun with those vaccinations and feeling superior to other women.
Those plus sized tires are very forgiving. They will get you through some very chunky trails without using a huge amount of effort. However, if you are finding it heavy you can out 2.6 inch tires on it and it should ride pretty good.
Hi David. Haven't tried different tires yet. I wasn't minding the size, but not appreciating the grip pattern.
Where do you recommend getting a hitch installed?
Sorry just seeing this. Based on my research I considered doing it myself, but I just went to the local mechanic 1/4 mile from me, explained the task. It's easy for them, even though they don't do it often. They charged me one hour. Combining that with purchasing myself saved me ~$150 from going to a hitch installation place. Good luck.
When I replaced the bars on my Roscoe I shortened them as well, it’s a great bike but I think I’m getting ready to sell it and get some thing else not sure yet
What year is your roscoe? And why are you wanting to sell?
@@dannyturner7967 it’s a 2020, don’t get me wrong I love the bike still and it’s capable of just about anything in my opinion but….. after having it for two years I’m ready for something new capable of a bit more. I want a full suspension trail bike and a dirt jumper so I’m going to have to make cuts somewhere lol
How much did you cut off? I haven't decided whether to shorten again, but probably will. Yes, it's not the perfect ride by any means, but still a lot of fun. Did you get your new ride yet?
@@theellebottrell No not yet, but I just bent the chain ring on my Roscoe so I think instead I might just upgrade it and ride it another year. I really do love this bike and I trimmed the handlebars the same way you did (I think I trimmed mine too short) but I still like them
My advice to change the derailer and shifter next, the SX is plastic trash and is just not good. A GX derailer, a GX chain and a GX shifter is all you need to bring the drive train to the next level. I talk from experience as I have done this with my Marlin 8... Day and night difference
I will likely want to dial in the gearing. It my first time with a single chainring. Not sure if I'll change the chainring or the cassette to achieve my goals. Still getting a feel for the bike and what it lacking. I do prefer my other shifters - I'd like something that uses thumb and index finger or possible grip shift back like my first mtn bike.
Athletic tape is awsome and $1 at 99 cent store the spray bactine is awsoen too tons of sprays for like $5
Glad you've found something you like. I don't think that would wear well for me on the trail.
Great video What size frame did you go for and how tall are you? Thanks
Medium
I'm just under 5.4 and medium is great! I bought i from someone 5.7 or 5.8 who found it too small.
You may want to “lower” your tire pressure to help avoid tire slippage (you address this later in your review).. Also, Tubeless Tires are “not” glued to the rim, they are mounted to the wheel and have tubeless sealant placed inside the mounted tire (pre or post).. Nice Review and update..
Thanks for watching. Yes, they do a lot better soft, but then you're also slower. It's the same trails I've ridden before without having to monitor tire pressure. I'm very much a go ride person and stop talking about riding, so even tire pressure gets overlooked by me often. I'm also a need to know person and assumed they were glued to seal without learning about them, as I never needed to know because I didn't have that kind of bike, even though the technology has been there so long and even my husband has tubeless and could have explained. Got my first flat, so now I need to know because my old tech knowledge won't get me through. Thanks again for watching!
Looking froward to your Trek Roscoe journey (I have a 2021 Roscoe 6 with a complete upgrade. Adding SRAM AXS in about 2 months for my FINAL upgrade).. Please “NO” music in the background, talking and the natural atmosphere is much more preferred…. New Subscriber.. 🇺🇸
Hey there! Love the feedback. I went back and forth about doing voice over. Decided not to did the music and text, and then ended up layering over the V.O. In the end it was too much, but in the end I had too much time in to delete. I think I need to chop off more width of the bars. I knew this all along, but wanted to give the new geometry a try. I find the wide bars much less stable. Thanks for subscribing!
What upgrades did you go with Gunny? Just got a 2021 Roscoe 6 for my grandson and I’m thinking of new fork and wheels for starters.
@@Ceemysix Happy 2022! Well, the ONLY original thing on my Roscoe is the frame😱! So here’s the list, since you asked: SRAM GX Eagle Dub Groupset Lunar, B2, 175mm, 32T, SRAM GX AXS drivetrain, Rockshox Reverb AXS (Dropper), Ergon SM Pro Saddle, Bontrager LineComp 40 wheel set, Rear Hub upgraded to 108T, Bontrager XR4 27.5 x 2.8 Tubeless Tires, Rockshox Reba RL 27.5 fork, Bontrager Line Pro 35 0 Degree Stem, Bontrager Line Pro Carbon 35 MTB Handlebar, Ergon GFR1 Grips, SRAM Code R brakes, SRAM Dub Bottom Bracket, Avid G2 CleanSweep 200mm Rotors, Lizard Skins Chainstay protectors (both sides), SRAM Matchmaker. I think that covers the upgrades😱! I truly love my Roscoe and it’s one of a kind, which made the journey all that sweeter! Should you find you need any parts, send me a message as I have kept “some” of my parts that I’ve upgraded. Please stay in touch and good luck, I know your Grandson is going to get a ton of enjoyment with his Roscoe. FYI, my FIRST upgrade was the fork, a HUGE improvement…. 🇺🇸
@@gunny6517 Quite a list. I will use it as a cross reference for future upgrades. Thanks. Retired AF here.
Gorgeous!! What an amazing way to get away and refuel and refresh! Much love.
Thanks, so much! Agreed and can't wait to explore and share more. Love to you!
