⭐ Simulation of the Impact Phenomena - ANSYS Tutorial ⭐
֍ In this tutorial, we will learn how to do an impact analysis using ANSYS Explicit Dynamics. We use nonlinear materials for impact analysis. Through this tutorial, we will simulate the impact of a bullet on a steel wall. The dimensions of the model are chosen based on a calibre 22 bullet.
We will find out about the steel wall resistance to the fired bullet, which hits it at a speed of 900 meters per second in a perpendicular direction. We can also see the directional deformation of the wall and exactly how much our steel wall has deformed perpendicular to its surface and measure how much the bullet has penetrated the steel plate. We will learn how to set up an impact analysis in ANSYS Workbench Explicit Dynamics and extract desired outputs.

excellent video but i have a question. Do you know a way to add pitch angle in every ply. So, they raise helicoidal?
if change the material could be possible do the analysis anyways?
Very thanks to You for this tutorial. Is there any tutorial for both blast and impact action of projectile to wall?
Not yet
Hey where did you get the engineering data from for the fiber ? And the corecell??
Hi. You can find sample data in ED or otherwise search the web for material data.
How can I find failure criteria index for composite
Hi. Which FC do you want to find?
how to open the ADPL command with ansys 2019 ? please
Hi, do you mean that use APDL scripts in Mechanical
@@iDESIGNBests Is it possible to have your email? I work on the simulation of phase change materials for a heat sink. I am looking for a way to introduce reaction hentalpy into the Ansys transient thermal module
thanks a lot . Can you please tell me how to make the results into 3d ?
Hi. This is a 2D analysis. for 3d results you must run a 3d simulation on a 3d model.
Hands down, this is the most comprehensive guide to ACP on TH-cam. I have watched over 20 videos and this covered all the important aspects that most videos missed. Thank you so much, team.
Glad it helped!
Hi, What is meant by the negative values of stress in the stress plots, PLY wise?
Hi Negative value of stress in one ply means that we have compressive stresses in this ply.
ERROR! Number of nodes and elements exceeded for Academic Student version - nodes and elements both limited to 128000. 🥲💀
why load step 1 should be set with a very small ending TIME value? will it generate errors if the value is big ,like 10s
Thank you. It was really helpful. I am curious , why the third creep constant was set to 0 ? If i am not wrong C3 denotes Q ( Activation energy for creep) . How big would be the difference in results if i chose to include c3 ? TIA
Thank you for the very informative video, the question is if I have the experimental test data, how can I get the 9 constant of an orthotropic material of a woven CFRE?
Hi. You can calculate it with mathematics formula.
Perfect!
Thank you.
how can i know totak thickness of my composite?? i want to make composition of kevlar fiber and other material want to compose these tow on each other last thickness of whole is 16cm kevlar and 4cm other
Hi. There are many ways to measure the total thickness of your composite model. using sensors is one of them.
@@iDESIGNBests thank you so much
Thank you so much, can you explain me how to create a composite material of FMLs 5layers ( AL, epoxy, GFRP, epoxy and AL) please
Hi. I think you can use material designer for this purpose
Thank you
thanks for the video
You're welcome
Thanks 😊
You're welcome!
Hi, I have a small doubt, while meshing we are giving some thickness, does that thickness really matters? please address.
Hi. No. That is just for passing the step and go to next steps
do more videos
Hi. Thank you. Unfortunately we are very busy recently. I hope we can create more videos soon.
First of all thank you...is it possible to create a stack up on 2D axisymmetric, assuming the strip of a cylinder??
Yes.it is possible
do more videos
We are very interested to making more and more videos. But for creating better videos and for increasing quality of our work we need some instruments that we can't pay for it right now.
This is nonlinear buckling with geometric perturbations, different from post buckling. The latter would need the ARCLEN command.
From post buckling we mean the process of buckling after occurance of first buckling
Thanks a lot for the video. As far as I understood, the imperfections from the Linear Buckling Analysis ( LBA) is carried into further static analysis, which essentially is a non-linear buckling analysis right ? So, how can we extract the critical buckling load in the non-linear case for this example ( cylinder under external pressure) ? For a force load, I could plot force vs displacement curve. For a pressure load case I am unable to extract critical buckling pressure in a non-linear analysis. Please help!!
Hi. actually in this project we wan to show how to apply imperfections for changing the model to use it in another linear buckling analysis and we don't investigate nonlinear effects. Nonlinear buckling is another problem. This problem is just Post buckling behavior of a buckled structure and there is a stabilization step between two analysis that allow us to omit the nonlinear effects.
hi. introduction to creep pdf i need. can you send me pdf of this book?

Excellent, the through thickness stress plotting was difficult to find. Thank you!
Thank you.
Hello how did you access the corecell a550 and t700 carbon fiber mechanical properties ı cant find it on websites very urgent
Hi. You can use data from this video if you need their properties.
Hi, could you help me to understand one value? When you put the pressure value 9800 N/m^2 its because 9.81x1000 ? If it was dry sand i had to put 9.81x1553 (or the density of the material)? Thank you very much.
That's correct!
Nice
Thanks
That was so good, keep going I have just a question I have a problem in setting analysis for phase change i wish you can drop your Gmail ?

Nice and professional draw's method... Congratulation !!! In addendum: The next time you have to explain with words instead of music which is anti-learning for a beginner who follows your tutorials.
Thank you. We will consider your suggestion
I'm looking to do this with polypropylene but couldn't find Constants. can you link any sources please.
how can i add functionally graded material ?
Hi. It must be covered in another tutorial.
I followed your video and an error occurs when I go from solution to model. Error is "Update failed for the Solution component in Eigenvalue Buckling. Error updating cell solution in system Eigenvalue Buckling." I'd appreciate it if you could answer.
Hi. Please send me a picture or video from your project to check the steps.
@@iDESIGNBests I send to your e-mail my error picture. Thanks.
Please archive your project. Upload it to google drive and send me the link of it
a very good lesson. It is suggested to add commentary rather than plying music in back ground. It will be more attractive for students. Students preferably watch those videos which are supported by commentary
Thanks. Your opinion will be considered.
Thank you very much....it was perfect. I have a question I did everything same as this video but i saw below error. "An error occurred inside the SOLVER module,The refrence units defined for the creep does not match." Why this problem happened?
Super good video. The only question I have is how did you come up with the enthalpy table?
Hi. Thank you for watching. I found it in one reference.
