I didn’t even listen to the whole thing. Mostly because I hate the AI voices. Your channel will grow when you have a real person read the script (I’m volunteering by the way!). The other reason? Because we need to stop commenting on people’s bodies. My sister is rail thin due to gastroparesis. I’ve been heavier (not huge, but heavier) on and off my whole life. I had a bout of gastroparesis myself and got under 100lbs. I had everyone, even strangers comment on my weight. It’s impolite to speculate when someone has gained weight and we tend to be more sensitive to that, but for skinny people, it’s just as hurtful. I’ve seen my lovely sister broken down in tears because of some of the comments she gets. Then, when I lost all that weight and was scary skinny (you could count my ribs on my chest when wearing a v-neck or lower cut shirt, and if my t-shirt, long or short sleeved, was tighter on my skinny frame, you could count the bumps in my spine easily. My cheeks were hollow, my hands looked like witch’s hands, with the tendons and ligaments and bones all sticking out and I had to special order clothing, because a size four in the U.K. was a little bit baggy on me, which is a size zero in the US and a size four is almost impossible to find here. I owned a few items from the United States that were a double zero and fit perfectly. Hearing the comments people said was hard. I heard “do you have cancer?” To “are you going to die” to “you need help with that eating disorder young lady, I see you rush to the bathroom after you eat and you only eat a spoonful of food” (gastroparesis goes hand in hand with vomiting and I was trying my best to keep stuff down). One particularly ignorant individual asked if I had AIDS or active HIV. So folks, please don’t comment on other people’s bodies. You never know if they have a health condition that they don’t want to talk about or be reminded of, and it’s truly none of your business and makes those who are super skinny feel truly crappy. And I want to point out that we’re quicker and happier to comment on women’s bodies than men’s. How is that kind or fair? Before you make an entire video talking about someone’s body, ask yourself - how would you feel if you stumbled on it and the subject of the video was yourself? Enough said. Please do better.
