Behind the scenes: strength testing!
มุมมอง 176ปีที่แล้ว
Go ahead and call it plastic, because it absolutely is. That doesn't make it fragile or un-reliable. This is the top plate for an upcoming product and won't even see anywhere near this kind of force/abuse, but I still decided to bounce all 200lbs of me on it because that's how much I know and trust my designs and materials. Proper design engineering doesn't happen by accident 🙂
Strymon Cloudburst 1/4" Jack Issues
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
The PCB-mounted 1/4" Jacks in the Strymon Cloudburst (mine is Rev. B) have too much play in them, resulting in some cables not working/shorting to ground.

HX Stomp Aux Switch Configuration
มุมมอง 10K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A quick instructional video demonstrating how and where to set the Aux switch configs on your Line 6 HX Stomp (XL). The switch shown in the video is our Helauxy Duo switch, available here: pedalnetics.com/product/helauxy-duo/ *I realized as I was posting this, I never mentioned the polarity settings under Preferences. Both of those should be set to Normal.

    My pedal is REV A 2022, I checked it and the metal bits don’t move about, I guess I have a good one? I’ve used Ernieball and other cables, mono and stereo, no issues

      If it helps any, I can say the Creation Audio Company minicake plugs work just fine in these jacks, so a cable from them would work. No affiliation, I just had to find my own workaround/working solution since I sell switches for the pedals

    Have same exact issue except with input. Can you tell me which exact pcb jacks are the ones you replace it with? I'd like to change mine out. THanks

    I had a similar issue with my mono input jack not making a secure connection, but only on my custom Lava Cables I opened the back as you did here and found a thin razor blade knife to gently lift the flap on the input jack so it would make a secure connection with my Lava Cables and it worked! no issues since then :-)

    I have this issue with the input, I use the same squareplug. I have to plug the cable 3/4 the way in to get any sound, very disappointed in strymon, first time having an issue and I owned most of their pedals.

    • @pedalnetics
      @pedalnetics 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I will say it's not exactly Strymon's fault; They are (or were) using Amphenol jacks, and it seems to be an issue with the Tip shape on some of these plugs not being "within spec" or just a slightly different shape. Strymon has been keeping me up-to-date, they're working to find more tolerent jacks and will be sending me a test unit once it's ready to toss on my bench and go through a ton of different brands/plugs/see if I can find anything else wrong. I'd hope they'll come out and offer some sort of repair program... In the meantime, I can tell you Creation Music Company cables/minicake plugs work just fine. I've swapped to using those for any of my Strymon accessory builds for now. No affiliation, I just know a lot of other builders who use them and while they won't replace my Squareplugs completely, they are good & reliable cables/plugs.

    Thank you! I think I’m having the same issue with the input jack using an Ernie Ball stereo cable. Mono input always works fine, but when I switch to stereo in, there’s a noticeable loss in volume on one side. Where do you source the 1/4” stereo jack you recommend using in the video @ 2:10?

    • @pedalnetics
      @pedalnetics 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! So that stereo jack is a Cliff FCR11650EW, although they seem to be hard to come by now-a-days. Another alternative I found was the Creation Music Company Minicake stereo plugs work great in the existing jacks; You can pickup the plugs themselves to make your own cable, or CMC does make cables as well! No affiliation besides I use their products/bought bulk jacks from them purely for my Strymon switches and can vouche for their function/quality: creationmusiccompany.com/products/minicake-trs-right-angle?variant=32187543978102

    Oh man you saved me hours of agony. Talked with strymon support about the iridiums stereo output only playing in one ear, headphones and/or with a stereo y to headphone adapter. Turns out THIS is my issue. Thank you for helping me.

    • @pedalnetics
      @pedalnetics ปีที่แล้ว

      Yikes, didn't realize it was that wide spread! I've been in touch with their engineering department and they're working with the part suppliers to get some better tolerences on the jacks, not sure how they'll handle existing products! If you need cables, the Creation Music Company Minicake TRS jacks seem to work just fine, I've started using them for all of my Strymon products and CMC sells good cables with their own ends!

    wow. my friend is having the same issue for both input and exp jacks. also using sp550s. The workaround we did was to put a rubber spacer at the base of the sp550s so it can't go all the way in when inserted in the pedal

    • @pedalnetics
      @pedalnetics ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, turns out input and output jacks have the same issue. I can say Creation Music jacks work perfectly fine, I switched to using those purely for these strymon switches. On a bright side, Strymin acknowledged the issue and is working with part suppliers to find a jack with better tolerances; although I'm not sure the plans for existing customers

  • @HWYau
    @HWYau ปีที่แล้ว

    I had some issues on a TRS to TS/TS cable on the output jack. Switched to another cable that seems to have sorted it but I wonder if this was the cause…comparing the 2 of my cables the insulating rings are slightly different thickness and positions. I wonder if the original wire didn’t like the ‘play’.

    • @pedalnetics
      @pedalnetics ปีที่แล้ว

      Turns out the Input and Output jacks are affected by this too; I just happened to be only dealing with Exp issues when I was testing. It's actually the shape of the Tip that makes all the difference, some plugs have a wider tip curve so they are not affected by this issue
