Why Women Are Better Shooting Students Than Men
After shooting a 500 the 44 seems pretty mild.
NO!!
I prefer the 44 special
your message is awesome, your delivery sucks!
Hmm .. Rotating Remote Control Pistol Helmet ? Remotely Controlled By Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra ... Sign Me Up ... 😜 🤪 😝
I think the .44 Russian cowboy rounds are a fun choice--the earliest rounds that date back to the black powder days that can be used in a Special or Magnum revolver. They are actually an American round made by S&W from 1870 by request for the Imperial Russian Army, and they kept evolving. When I look at 'em, I can't help but think they look like giant 22 Shorts. 😁
I live out in a rural area in Kentucky, where it was perfectly acceptable at the time to walk out in your back yard and crank off a few rounds at an old tin can or something. One day I happened to walk outside and heard this loud BOOM! Then a few seconds later, another BOOM. I looked over in the back yard of another home and saw two of my neighbors standing there and looking at something that one of them was holding. I walked over to see what was up, and found that one of the neighbors, a guy name Kenny, had gotten the notion that he was going to go deer hunting with a handgun, and had bought a .44 Magnum DAN WESSON revolver, the one that had the cylinder latch on the crane and I recall had interchangeable barrels that you tensioned with a barrel nut on the end of the barrel shroud. Anyway, I saw that he was shooting at an empty wine bottle sitting on a tree stump down in a dry creek bed (Not a very good target, but at least a good back stop) about 15 or 20 yards away. Kenny was complaining that there must have been something wrong with the revolver, as he couldn't hit anything with it. Kenny then asked me if I wanted to try it out. Now I hadn't shot a .44 Magnum revolver ever before in my life, and honestly was a little bit frightened of it, and didn't want to embarrass myself if I had six shots in the cylinder and didn't want to shoot all six after the first one hurt so bad or something. Kenny then handed me the revolver with the cylinder open, and had six of those big old magnum cartridges in the other hand. I took the revolver, but only took one cartridge. He asked why I only took one, and I said that I didn't want to shoot up all of his ammo. So I loaded one chamber, set it so it would line up with the barrel on the next trigger pull, took aim, rolled that trigger back, and BOOM. Blew the neck off of the wine bottle! The rest of the bottle was still sitting on the stump! I handed the revolver back to Kenny and said "Seems like it shoots OK to me! I left you more of the bottle so you still had something to practice on!" I walked back over to my house to continue what I was doing. A week or so later I happened to see the other neighbor that was there and witnessed my lucky shot, and asked him how Kenny did after I left. He said Kenny was so embarrassed that he told him later that he took the DW back to the gun shop for a refund at a big loss.
Stand in front of one and tell us how it goes. 🤷♂️
Sick. This is a really really bad look for law enforcement. Bunch of old white male cops laughing at police violence and brutality. ha ha, not.
I bought a DanWession 10" Heavy vented barrel In the early 80 s. It was very easy recoil. Probably the vented barrel (Like a Muzzle Brake).
no
A friend of mine, a fellow Kentucky boy but with extra points for having grown up on a farm, was a two term Vietnam Vet. Second tour he was a sergeant leading a platoon. He was part of the group that, when they returned from the field one day, they were told to clear their M14 and place it on a table, then go to another table and pick up one of those funny-looking black rifles. Anyway, being a competent leader and a guy who grew up around rifles, one of the first things he did was look in to how to strip the rifle and to clean and lubricate it. Of course, no cleaning tools or supplies had been issued because "this rifle didn't need cleaning!" "Bull Pucky" he said. So he had his guys scrounge up a bunch of .30 Cal cleaning patches and some boot strings. He showed his guys how to thread the patches on to the boot strings and use 'em as pull-thru's, and how to find "Ghetto-CLP" on the end of a deuce and a half dipstick if they couldn't find anything better. In the field, everybody cleaned and lubed their rifles, taking turns so that only 1/3 of the platoon had their rifles disassembled at a time while the other 2/3 of the group stood watch. He said that his guys NEVER had problems with their Armalite rifles.
Also, I just found this channel and it's super entertaining. I really like how you guys don't talk over each other!
I totally agree! Open carry is like playing poker and showing your hand before you bet!
I carry the plus p remmington 125gr htp and 125gr winchester personal protection and 158gr fmjfn in my old charter arms undercover! Wrks great! Those lswchp 158gr are great too!😊
yes. too much! too much recoil. too much noise. too much cost.
Thank you Elmer Keith…..
The .44 magnum cartridge was originally developed as a hunting round, not as a anti-personnel round. Of course, fans of the "Dirty Harry" trilogy would argue the point. I seem to recall that years ago, Amarillo, Texas swat officers were allowed to carry a .44 magnum, if they could qualify with the weapon on the range. These officers had to put in a lot of range time ( well above the average patrol officer) to qualify and to maintain proficiency with this caliber. There's an old saying that goes something like this: "A hit with a 9mm is better than 6 misses with a .44 magnum". I've bought and sold several .44 magnums over the years and still retain two of them but I'd never consider using one for a CCW.
Stupid 100% Agree. In urban settings this will just bring the cops or attention from the psychos.
You guys are complete dumbasses. My FFL owns one because 5.7 penetrates soft body armor which most thieves might wear that might try to rib his gun shop. It does about same damage as 9mm as its twice as fast. That is same reason our military switched to 5.56 cartridge - a smaller faster cartridge. Bodyguards and Secret Service around World carry it because it can penetrate soft concealable body armor. The reason it became more popular as price went down on 557 pistols and ammo. You guys are a joke
I dont care what you say it like my 5.7 i have the ruger pistol and carbine and i love it and also im not a weardo
The 44 mag is too much gun in a hand gun. The 41 magnum is on the ragged edge of too much. 357 mag is just right. 454 , 460, 500s are ridiculous. 44 mag is great in carbines.
People say the Walker was the most powerful till the ,357 but why do They forget about the .45 colt adopted in 1873, It was much more powerful than the Walker
Wild Bill Hickock was correct He was killed in Deadwood holding the Dead Mans hand, shot in the back of the head
It was in the feature film ‘Magnum Force’ in the scene in which he was participating in a shooting match that Callahan states that he uses “light loads.” He was referring to light(weight) Magnum loads such as that cartridge that uses 185-grain bullets, NOT .44 Special loads.
actually he says light specials...i believe he was talking about the loads he used at the match.
Reality, .44 magnum is too much gun (for 99% of situations) but then again, who doesn’t love that kind of power sitting in their hands?
I’m a P2C instructor (20+ years) in Mn, and I teach this exact thing in class. Also the same thing applies to who knows you carry, if you’re doing the gray man thing and your wife yells “you’ve got a gun do something “ then you might as well be open carrying! Concealed =options! Open carry is stupid!
just the price !
I totally agree, I have a Super Redhawk that I keep in my bedroom for home defense, but I carried a Springfiels XDS .45 ACP with a 3.3 inch barrel, a guy at the range offered me more than I paid for it so I sold with the intention of getting the newer 4 inch barrel model, instead I got a Taurus TH9, my first 9mm, to my surprise it's very accurate with a 41/2 barrel it feels like shooting a .22, there's almost no recoil compared to what I'm used to.
mine is more accurate than modern autos
Counter factual: I’m buying a S&W 5.7 within the month for concealed carry. I like the high velocity, low recoil, accuracy (will be running it with a red dot), and magazine capacity. (Some of my friends tell me the Smith trigger on the 5.7 is great as well). As for your comment about weird people, I guess that could be true. I’m a Gulf War Marine, current Naval Officer and own a variety of guns ranging from colts, rugers, kimbers, a CZ-75, a Mossberg 12-gauge, and a Sig. Does that make me weird? 🤷🏼♂️ What is weird to me, however, while we’re on the topic, is how in the weeds many people get with ballistics when their personal chances of getting in a firefight are so mind-bogglingly low (I’m talking those who aren’t LEO’s or security folks) that the chances of 1” of penetration or some bizarre cavity tumble rate making more of a difference than just hitting the damn target, whoever it may be, is on par with their chances of winning the powerball. I’m a pretty good shot, and I’ve been in a war and close to a few others since. I’m not sure why someone would think me with a S&W 5.7 with 22 personal defense rounds would fare worse than your average range dude with his 6 rounds of .357 fired from his pristine Walking Dead (talk about fads!) Colt Python. It’s much easier for me to emerge from cover and lay down 4-6 very accurate rounds with close to no recoil than it is for “Stainless steel Steve” to get off two accurate rounds at me with a double action revolver. The best part is I get 4-5 cycles of 4-6 to his 2-3 cycles of 2-3 round bursts. (For the record I love revolvers for what they offer…)
I don't think it's especially smart for the reasons you guys gave. Here's another one, too. If, God forbid, you have to use that firearm you had openly showing to defend yourself, how are you going to be judged, all things considered? You can bet your tail that if it comes to trial that your open gun will be used by any prosecutor as "proof" that you were egging the other person into a fight that might not have otherwise happened.
Just came across your channel and like the conversation format. New subscriber! I've seen 120 lb women shooting 500 S&W no problem. You can tell they know what they are doing before they pull the trigger. Then you see a grown azz man shoot one and it goes flying over his head and out of his hands. I'm old and still don't get it.
30 years ago I had a 7-1/2” Ruger SA Bisley and hand loaded for it. No regrets but I sold it. Now I have a .45 acp G41 and a 10mm 1911. Always wanted a model 29 S&W and I’m thinking a 4” barrel … and begin hand loading again. I wonder on availability of primers, cases, and bullets. Please advise if possible. Thanks !
It's too much gun for self-defense against your 2-legged attacker, if you ask me. The .44 magnum is best suited for hunting in bear country. The only time I fire .44 mag rounds is when I'm at the firing range where I could rent a .44 magnum revolver, just to see how it feels like. I don't own one myself since I don't live in bear country.
These guys completely miss the point of the round and its intended use. Classic boomer talking points.
In my opinion a lot of new bullet design is about marketing and sales. How are they going to make a living from the volume of sales of 158 gr LSWC HP ammo. Answer is, they are not. Everybody knows they work pretty well and there's nothing left to get excited about. That's where the marketing department has to push the engineering department to come up with something new. Either new ammo or new guns, or even better, both. Of course there are improvements in both, but for the most part we dinosaurs don't get that excited about them because we know what has already become tried and true. Fortunately, the FNGs entering the market do get excited and that's good. That loosens their grip on their wallets. Innovation and increased sales is what keep the gun industry going and we dinosaurs benefit from that as much as the FNGs. I certainly don't want the gun and ammo companies to wither and die from lack of interest in new products and thereby lack of sales. But we Fudds know that there is an awfully lot of stuff coming on the market that duplicates things that came onto the market over 100 years ago, i.e., the .40 S&W and the 38/40 WCF. Or how about the 6.5 x 55 Sweedish Mauser and a lot of the "new" 6.5 cartridges. More power to them. Let the sales of the "new" calibers begin. The more prosperous the firearms industry is the more we all benefit and the happier the FNGs are.
Apparently these old idiots have never heard of the Fort Hood shooting. 13 people killed with an FN 5.7 pistol.
The Smith & Wesson 57 is a hell of a gun fogies always talking shit about innovation. I’m 52 and I love the 57 took it out to the range and hit a target from 75 yards four times out of 10 I’m rocking with it.
Flip a wad cutter over to be presented as a hollow point and extend the bullet out of the casing similar to a R.N. 158 gr. and you'll see some magic. S&W M-10 revolver 4" {ish} or longer barrel. What I call a "summer load" for thin wardrobe.
I sill question the one stop shot capability of the 5.7 but to compare it to a 22 mag is placing your ignorance on display.
I'm a year late to the party but these guys make Tim Walz look manly. How's a dude with a Wilford Brimley mustache and suspenders consider anyone else weird?
Thats y I don't listen to old timers....you wouldn't know shit from gold if it hits you in the face LMFAO
What the hell is ported
Hmm your 22 mag doesn’t stack up my man with the 5.7. I find it funny these guys state carrying a 5.7 is “ weird “ it’s simply because they know very little about the caliber and seem afraid of anything that’s isn’t a 9 mil or 45acp. Cmon guys go out and fire it before you talk sh*t about something you don’t know
Jim Cirillo really pushed the semiwadcutters. WAY better than lead round nose. Then came the "FBI" load....that really made the 38spl nasty. Just gotta watch for hollowbased wadcutters. I've never done it but I understand they dont like usable pressures. I'm guessing the skirt blows off?
Why don't you guys do what viewers ask you guys to do because a lot of times you contradicting yourselves
My wife, my mother, and my self carry both Glock and Stoeger STR 9 on us when camping. One canceled and the other open carry.
agreed. & you guys are hilarious!
