This channel is about preserving memories from the past and also documenting current things that interest me. I kept detailed scrap books through the years, so it's fun to bring them alive in what I am calling "Danamentaries". They are my stories with history about the places mixed into the stories.
Wild Mustangs 2 weeks left and they're on!
The 4 teens have just two final weeks before the big event in Albany, OR where they show off how they have gentled their wild Mustang! One is riding now. The progress has been amazing and the bonds are evident between the horses and trainers.

Wild Mustangs 3 weeks till the Competition

Just 3 weeks left till the big competition for the 4 trainers and their Mustangs. Author Molly Gloss, who wrote "The Hearts of Horses" came to a Barn Book Nook event at the barn as a special treat for the trainers. In this episode we also learn why Mustangs are such great horses and that one horse has a ghost on her face! A big surprise is revealed too!

The 4 teens and their Mustangs are in the final month of their 100 days together. They are now getting their horses in trailers, practicing obstacle courses and preparing for the final competition at the end of this month.

Wild Mustangs Introduced to Stimuli Work

Everything is novel to the new wild Mustangs. The teens are continuing in building trusts and desensitizing their new Mustangs. They are hanging items in stalls, playing music, and introducing them to all kinds of stimuli in preparation for the upcoming competition.

Rare photos & film footage from the Desert Air Hotel, the first fly-in hotel & airport in Palm Springs, CA. Designed by Henry (Hank) Gogerty. Includes rare sound film from 1963 taken on a Fairchild Cinephonic 8mm camera. Also film of late actor Bob Cummings and his airplane that we got to fly in with him.
A Horse Named Blue

Using just flashlights and candles for the lighting, this project was inspired by the shadows I saw on two horse sculptures one evening during dinner. Lunar Grave provided the music for this short story of friendship and hope.

Great idea to safe these majestic horses respect the wild mustang 👊❤🧡
Great Job girls! Your on the right path of not breaking - but gentling. One motion I will pass along to you. Watch when 2 horses meet for a 1st time. What do they do? They exchange a nose scent inhale/exhale. Try this approach by slowly moving your hand to the horse's nose & exhale on to your hand as you do so. Giving the horse time to sniff your scent. Then advance to petting them - all the while talking to them while you do this. You will find it leads to a quicker bond on their level. In their mind you are not a threat - but a friend who is there to greet them. Repeat it over a period of time. I think you will find how well this works.
What an incredibly awesome opportunity for these students, to tame a gorgeous wild mustang would be the ultimate life achievement for many horse lovers! 😍

OMG! I totally could have made that film, except I have no photos but one. I bet I know you? I rode there from 1972-1975, I rode Aegons horses a lot and had one for 6 months. I always found horses to ride there and I also rode to Will Rogers, that was a gnarly trail though. You didn’t mention Valley Springs, that place was a trip! In Sullivan, I mostly rode an Appaloosa named Che, and a 17’2” Warmblood named Mark, whom I jumped in the arena and outside and over the arena fences too. I would hell collect Aegons horses every Tuesday. I rode to Crestwood a LOT! When I was littler, I rode there whenever I could persuade my mom to spring for it. Later I had a horse to ride that was boarded by Will Rogers and I rode those trails (Chicken Ridge too!). And I played Junior polo, and walked the horses after the polo matches… You are the first person I have ever heard of that. I’ve had a similar story to mine. That was so cool for me to watch. You know most of these homes were dilapidated in the 1980's. You could pick them up cheap. A number of flippers spruced a lot of them up and many were later renovated as modernism began to be discovered. These homes were far ahead of their time and weren't really appreciated until many decades later.

This would have been a dream job for me when I was a teenager.
A developer was building a tract of NEW 'Eichler' homes in Palms Springs in 2018? Where is that? I want to see them! Mr Eichler was a developer like no other. He was committed to building modern style homes and used several great architects to design them. Great video. Now I have another reason to visit Palm Springs!
