look, the last thingg i want to do is some dumb project like this. thanks for nothing youtube. looks horrible.
Looks totally not too pointlessly heavy and clunky. Perfect for a 50-mile hike! Let's see that hike with this thing in the next video.
They have to add Arabic language to it
Please do a video showing the internal build.
256gb is not sufficient. Also, read only defeats the concept of a survival wiki in a box. Being able to update information would be more useful. Also, as i type this......he says to keep it over 75% battery to avoid degradation. An apocalypse knowledgebase needs to be dynamically updateable. A laptop with a traditional OS, and a solar powered battery/charging setup would be cheaper, and more resilient in a SHTF situation than this device. This is an overprced toy for cosplay prepper types.
👌🏽👌🏽 solid content 👌🏽👌🏽
This is actually a scam💀💀. Not even in a pelican case. The Etsy page gives 0 details. You could easily source aluminum or higher quality plastics from somewhere like PCB way for faceplates. Basic electronics understanding could afford you a more capable system (SDR, meshtastic, ATAK, ETC) for half possibly a third of the price. I’d recommend taking down this video.
I'm confused on why this is a scam, when I bought this with my own money without any affiliation with the maker? Yes, as I've stated in the comments multiple times, I recommend those that are capable to make their own and to definitely not buy this. But to be honest, I've spent hours researching a product like this, a good amount of money on previous Pi builds, and more time learning about electronics in the the past and I still failed. The case is Nanuk, which is Canada's Pelican brand and arguable better with nicer latches. I own Pelican cases and they're both just as durable and waterproof. I rather spend my time making money (or, making videos like this), than put in the 50+ hours to learning and making a device like this. You can make almost anything out there yourself, but some things aren't worth it for some people. There are also products out there with extra capabilities (like you said, SDR, mesh, etc), which is why I mentioned other products in the video with the capability.
It is basicly a storrage server with Display
Great video! I also own a pair of the Even Reality G1 glasses. This video was incredibly informative. I completely agree with all of your points. Your analysis of the features was right on the money. I was unaware that a preorder was necessary for the translation feature, which was disappointing to discover after purchasing my glasses, especially considering it turned out to be a subscription service. Additionally, the cost of my progressive lenses far exceeded the initial price, much more than just a few hundred dollars. Nevertheless, thank you for the video. Well done!
$688... just buy a used Panasonic Though book... You can do the same things with more capabilities! My cyberbeck is a Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy Tad A9+ with Samsung Dex integrated, trifold bluetooth keyboard with TouchPad and pen... The Tab A9+ has 8 cores 8GB ram 128GB internal storage with 1TB SD card full of survival, off grid living and power, medical, dental, surgical, and pharmaceutical drug, manuals books and videos... finally, a 50000 mAh battery with solar panels. I am running SDR software, offline maps, ATAK, foreign language translation tools... and much more all stored in a EMP shield breifcase for much less that $688. Soon I will be adding in LoRa for emergency messaging system.
not to mention tough books are already battle tested lol
Why do that thumbnail for clickbait if you want to see the development succeed? You seem to be a more decent person than that. You can get views without associating the product with negativity falsely. try harder sir
So I initially posted the thumbnail as a joke after talking about the product with some friends. My channel actually gets better views with non-clickbait thumbnails, but I don’t take TH-cam too seriously and it was funny at the time. In full transparency, I actually had ER reach out to change the thumbnail, so I will be doing that once I come back from vacation lol
@@josehnegrete I think your instincts are correct. Thank you for recognising your power
They don't have a subscription. The presenter does a poor job of explaining the glasses. There are two ways to use the translation feature. The first option, which translates after each sentence, is free. The second option, which provides word-by-word translation, requires payment for a certain number of hours, but it operates a bit faster. Additionally, he shouldn't be driving with notifications on or while using the maps.
The subscription for translations is ok specially if it’s using AI which is the case. It has costs. The user will not be always doing it so in my opinion it’s the current pricing is acceptable.

this is the most overpriced shit I've ever seen, you could have just made your own for over 300 less with way more storage and functionality.
I carry a survival library on my phone in the form of pdfs of choice books. A library on micro sd in multi format is far more useful, as you can swap to a new device you find in teotwaswki. The best survival knowledge is what you carry in your head, start learning stuff now don’t wait.
700$ for a translator that can only translate one way only ? No thank you .. i stay with my google translator on my phone ... with the help of AI it can translate both directions and that doesn´t cost me 1 cent ... i prefer a mirrored monitor ( huge screen size ) for my Smartphone / PC / Notebook / Notepad / Steamdeck etc. for video consumption / gaming / working. Xreal One Pro is the right decision to invest 700$ ---> you get 2x Full-HD Micro OLED screens which show brilliant colors and a deep black, 57 ° Degrees of FOV , 700 Nits brightness, an excellent optics, also prescription glasses and even 3 different monitor modes ( anchor / reduces size in the upper corner ( left or right ) and smooth following ) !
I dont know about your location, but it is illegal in mine to text and drive. If you had it on, and you said you did, then the accident was 100% your fault. I am interested in these because I have hearing damage, and speech is difficult for me outside of quiet spaces. If I could get glasses that printed text in louder public spaves, it would be a life changer.
You can't send text messages through the glasses. The notifications though do pop up, so if I get a message, it shows up if I raise my head which is the issue I was having if I wasn't being careful. The HUD isn't always enabled.
@josehnegrete a judge in this state, doesn't care if you are not typing when you hit another car. If you're reading a text, you are at fault when you strike that car. Youvare not concentrating on the road. You admitted the device had a mode that shuts off distractions and that you either forgot or neglected to use it. On a phone, we would call that airplane mode. You HAD a choice to put the device in a safe mode. You did not. You admitted you did not. Therefore, you are not 90 something percent at fault... you must be 100% at fault. And those actions deprived another person of their property that can never be returned to original condition. If I stick my hand into a running table saw blade, I'm not 95% at fault... I'm 100% at fault and stupid. If I shoot a deer and miss hitting another person ... I'm not 95% at fault... I'm 100% at fault. I didn't mean to... is not a defense. It was a mistake... is not a defense. It IS action... reaction. Cause and effect. A happened, so B was the result. I dont get to blame the saw company for me being stupid. I dont get to blame the gun company because I did not ensure my shot was safe before pulling the trigger. That's all I'm saying... we all have to take 100% of the responsibility for our own actions. Not 98%. Not 95%.
@@billlyell8322 I think to address your major statement; in car accidents, most states actually have comparative liability law for shared-fault car accidents lol. Yes, you can be 95% at fault, 98%, etc.
@josehnegrete just because the law is corrupt, does not make it right. Slavery was 9nce the law too. It it was corrupt. The simple fact he knew he could disabled it. He did not do do. Had he disabled it, it would not have "caused" the accident. All of this was his words.
@@billlyell8322 I wish I could pin this comment.
After watchung the full video, thanks for a thorough review, i knew that theyd forget to do an automatic driving mode detection (maybe they dont have the hardware for that. But it reminds me of the old snapchat filter that showed speed). I agree the accident is your fault but yeah it didnt help that the glasses triggered but as we learn in our dev classes "code will always do exactly what you tell it to." 100% need remappable tips and a safe guaranteed way for driving. Oh and nix the subscription for premium translate or bake some extra features in for the shades package
I'm going to try and not be reactionary and watch the whole video
After getting an email from ER themselves, I will be changing the thumbnail lol
Just get a Used Dell Rugged 5414 or 7414 laptop for $200 and install FydeOS. Does everything thhis thing can and more for much less
could also buy a tough book. they are rugged and are used by the military and police, so parts will be plentiful
Does the case, when closed, afford a level of emp protection or not?
no :/

Hey Bro what ABOUT exposure? For some reason mine dont match i take a picture with another camera try same adjustments and got an overexposure photography
There's not a light leak or anything? Are you still getting consistent images with a regular film back? What are you using to meter?
Bought mine just to see them glitch and break. Total trash. Had to fight with customer service just to get my return going. Longest process ever. I hate mine and I hope no one ever buys these Chinese junk
Oh really??? What glitched out?
@ my screens dude notifications . Showing one eye only
@@Safsejv-ih2ss oh yikes :( yeah sorry to hear that. did they offer anything extra on the return?
I like this product and it's price is not bad, but does anyone know of any cheaper alternatives?
Is there an internal faraday cage within the case because given the name of it, it should have 😁 (I didn’t notice if that was mentioned
no faraday :( you can buy an external storage one but that's extra
Can you tell me where the other computers are called? I’d like to know even though the computer that you’re talking about is completely amazing but I would like to know the other ones too.
if, for example, the Spanish teacher tests me and I don't know anything, he tests me word by word, meaning that he asks me a word and I have to tell him the translation, when I say it, he asks the next one. if my phone is in my pocket while he is a meter away from me will the translator work and also what do you think about the Vuzix Z100
Just study dude lol
the vizix seem more obvious that they're smart glasses, and i agree with the guy below me just study
Practical, no-nonsense layout, and great build quality. What else is there to say? Yes. A proper large screen! I must have watched hundreds of CD videos: this is one rof the best ones.
Dont be cheap, by transisions for your regular glasses
I wonder if health benefits would pay for part of these since they have the option for prescriptions
lol, you looked back bro. Thats why you crashed. Glad you are okay!
Yeah better off building it yourself no way I'll waste 700€ on a raspberry pi powered junk when I just can use an old linux workstation or old smarthpone powered cyberdeck, because yeah you can replace most sbc with them.
How well can Even AI capture my voice even if I were at a library or classroom where I might need to use a soft voice or murmur sound?
i've been trying it, and while there is a limit, it does work with a quiet voice in a quiet environment.
How useful is the Even AI function? Were you able to ask some knowledgeable questions? Did they synchronize with the ChatGPT or Open AI? If the answers were longer than the actual screen, would it be displayed as turning page mode?
Thank you for the review. I understand that some may find the price reasonable, but considering the current market, I find it a bit steep for the features offered. For instance, products like the Meta Quest, priced around $500, provide a broader range of functional features that actually work reliably, which sets a higher standard for the price. While I appreciate the potential of these glasses, I believe the value doesn’t yet match the cost. Your insights were very helpful, and I do look forward to purchasing a pair once more refined features are available. The teleprompter, AI, and note functions are certainly appealing, but I think waiting for further development is a better choice. I understand the price may increase as the product improves, but I hope it aligns more with the added value in the future.
Agreed, screw the subscription models - greedy bastards.

Opacity of text is it fixed? Or can be changed
technically it's fixed at 100%, but you can change the visibility by raising and lowering the brightness of the text. and honestly, the text is so thin that it doesn't really "cover up" too much detail.

The subscription model seems to be a dealbreaker for the translate pro on these glasses for a lot of people, including myself. You need the extra speed when communicating realtime.
After talking to other people who have the translation basic version, it doesn't seem like the difference in speed is super noticeable. However, I think the translation feature with Pro enabled is usable for realtime communication, but just barely due to speed. I couldn't imagine anything slower (or having to pay per hour LOL)
