Thanks for sharing you experiences of caravan mods on the road. Did you consider putting in a separate solar controller in, so you charge your batteries by the DCDC when driving and the solar panels charges the batteries as you drive.
Glad you enjoyed the video ☺️ originally we had the thought to do so, however we decided to see if just the dcdc would keep up with the charging given its 50amp rated (as we can always add one in in the future). We’re currently getting about 30-35amps in while driving (25 from the alternator and 10 from the existing roof solar), im soon going to install a relay in to cut the solar out when driving to see if we can bump that up to 45-50amp (since it won’t be limiting the alternator input to only 25amp while there’s solar), but if that doesn’t fix the charge rate I’ll put a solar regulator in.
Hey guys, Really enjoying your videos. Just watched the tour of your van, well done it looks great and very practical. Re the crockery which absorbs spices, have a look at Corelle from BigW, Target etc, it’s a great crockery set, lightweight and chip resistant. It does not absorb any food products, we have been using the same set for about ten years in our off road van. Cheers D&J

Good stuff. Did something similar, I used the Renogy Rego system. I have had 2 solar controllers fail, not happy, but my 400 amp battery, inverter, dc to dc and 240 volt charger all good. I have used 4 x 200 amp Renogy flex solar panels, all good, full sun I am getting over 40 amps out. Hope yours goes well.
Thanks for watching 👍 that sucks to hear about your solar regulators, we’re getting similar amps when parked up with our solar through the dcdc, however when driving we’re only getting about 30-35amps due to it limiting solar and alternator input to 25amp each. I’m going to install a relay to cut solar input when it gets alternator charging which should hopefully bump it up to 40-50amps however if not I’ll probably have to install a seperate solar regulator (hopefully they have fixed the issues you had by now)
Solar controllers usually fail when they are hooked up to solar panels & not to the battery.

Hey! No you didn’t miss it, we’ve just updated the description to include links to everything we purchased. We only got the batteries and DCDC in a bundle, there are some others available but at this stage they don’t include the inverter charger that we were set on.

It's a pity the weather wasn't better for you as I think that is the prettiest coastal area in Australia.

Great vid. I have a very similar setup in my 2013 200 series. Same sun shades and have also got a draw fridge and sleeping platform. You rarely see people converting the 200 into an in car camper. How good are the shades!!
