The Strong Female Character is a DISEASE
It’s no secret that modern entertainment sucks. Movies, TV shows, and books just aren’t what they used to be. Gone are the glory days of the 80s, 90s, and even early 2000s, the decades where storytelling, especially film, flourished. Gone are the days of story for story’s sake.
Nowadays, studios and publishing houses are simply concerned with making a buck. Nowadays, almost every movie sacrifices the art of story for diversity quotas and political agendas.
And that is perfectly illustrated by the complete and utter DISEASE that is the strong female character. Woke feminism has taken root in the entertainment industry, and it's ruining everything it touches. Are we surprised?

    "Young girls, when attending Junior High, are the Most Evil form of human." - Female teacher and friend to one of Film Threat's members in the D Files. If I can describe bullying, then with inspiration from C. S. Lewis, I can perfectly say that Masculinity is Animalistic as they bully physically, whereas Femininity is Diabolical as they bully with words and subtlety. The latter, it would seem, is the worse of the two.

    After watching this video I'm reminded why Night Of The Comet and Buffy The Vampire Slayer couldn't exist today given how broke the damsel in distress trope and instead of the female characters being the ones that are rescued, they are the rescuers.

      @gloriathomas3245 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@terryr7622 of they were made today people would be criticizing them for the very reason people criticize female characters regardless if they well witten or not. Point is people aren't comfortable with the idea of a female character that breaks gender tropes and stereotypes.

    Not a huge fan of corporate feminism, but I strongly disagree with Chani from Dune Part II. I feel she was behaving quite reasonably. She knew the Bene Gesserit had manufactured a false prophecy and that some among her people were becoming obsessed with Paul as though he were the god of this fake prophecy. And even then, she didn't hold it against Paul. She loved Paul the person, and only left him when he willingly became Lisan al Ghaib and introduced the galaxy at large to a lovely little thing called Islam.

    As a female author, the flat strong female character is extremely annoying. And I am saying this as a woman writer who publishes at a small house owned by a woman haha Flat lead characters are not entertaining, end of story.

  • @NellieTarkov
    @NellieTarkov 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Same. I appreciate what is said at the end about not creating "strong female characters" but in creating a strong character that happens to be female. I also think it is the same about men nowadays that are written by liberal women where they are all dark and brooding, and also ignore the main female character for practically half the book or show and is suddenly interested only after some other guy has taken interest. Men and women have either turned into Mary Sue's or Gary Stu's. Can't wait to see more content, maybe talk about how men have been turned into either the brooding, bad boy character, or a weak fool that is always doing something dumb.

    I love this video! As a 19 year old woman, these “strong female leads” are the characters I have always felt the LEAST represented by. And it’s even more upsetting that directors, writers, and often times the actors themselves, claim that women like myself don’t feel represented by these characters bc of “internalized misogyny” or bc we’ve fallen for “patriarchal bs” when really it’s just bc these characters are so unrealistic. I can be a “strong woman” and not hate men!

  • @juliie007
    @juliie007 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What is lacking is proper character development because AI is helping write these plots and corporations have also abandoned their core values and focus on making money. The strong female character is unrealistic and doesn’t reflect on most women.

    Thank you for this! As I work on my high fantasy world that will house series set over various times and cultures, it helps to be reminded that we (women) are only human. I think that bearing these opinions in mind as I write will help me create even better characters and more dramatic scenes, especially when I challenge myself to remove plot armor from the equation.

  • @CarmellaGrace
    @CarmellaGrace 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This could not have been said any better, agree with everything stated. As a woman, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been told by other women that I should be “ashamed” to be a woman because I have these views lol. All this hate on men is getting old.

  • @LauraKirby-vd7pb
    @LauraKirby-vd7pb 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That fact that writers are incapable of writing strong females without making men look stupid and weak is also a point within itself. If you can’t make someone be impressive without the rest of the world being a failure, then you’re doing it wrong

    Should have put "modern" in the title. I was about to rain on your parade when you mentioned ripley and the others. The title is just a bit misleading. I would argue that Daenerys from Got was a great character as well, at least up until the end of season 7. Season 8 was an all around shitshow, not giving justice to the otherwise great show. But Daenerys certainly took the biggest brunt of the fall. But i wholeheartedly agree. It's sad that there are so few good new female leads nowadays.
