      @@troydorseystriking I've been training on and off for years. Just thought it's pouring in recently. I have a coach that goes way too hot in my opinion. I have bad hips and knees so it's hard for me to completely pick up my leg fast enough with the traditional block. This looks like an excellent alternative and even more effective. Thank you

    • @troydorseystriking
      @troydorseystriking 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That can be tough with bad hips and knees. This reinforced check will help for sure and also you might try adopting a more evasive stance that allows you to move in and out faster. I love all the stances. The Muay Thai stance is great for power but you do have to defend yourself a lot. The longer more bladed kickboxing stance does allow you to evade more with just movement without taking damage defending. You may do all of this already just offering up what little I can from what little I know of your situation. Thanks for commenting. Keep me posted on how it goes and if you run into any trouble using the technique.

      We don’t teach anything that doesn’t work and that we haven’t ring tested already. Everything on our channel is stuff we use and that works in the ring. Anything that doesn’t work in the ring gets thrown out. This type of check is not new. We didn’t create it. This is something that has worked for a lot of other fighters.

    • @user255
      @user255 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@troydorseystriking I was thinking the same. Traditional block leaves the leg in the way of the kick, so that there isn't much room to hit the back leg's ankle. How does that work with this block? Do you need just need to see when the kick goes lower?

    • @troydorseystriking
      @troydorseystriking 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @user255 A reinforced check is designed to provide additional protection against low kicks by using both legs in a manner that reduces the risk of injury and creates a stronger defensive structure. With a reinforced check, the back leg supports the lead leg by positioning it behind or underneath, creating a firmer barrier. This setup limits the vulnerability of the back leg’s ankle because it positions the leg in a way that is more difficult to target effectively. The reinforced position helps by keeping the ankle of the back leg more protected and allows for a quicker reaction if an opponent attempts a lower kick. In other words you punch them in the face. Room to Hit the Back Leg’s Ankle: The reinforced check minimizes this room because the back leg is positioned in a way that helps shield the ankle in combination with the front leg. The leg’s positioning, as seen in the video, shows that it’s effectively protecting the vital areas by reducing the angle and space available for the opponent to target the ankle.

    • @troydorseystriking
      @troydorseystriking 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question, you want to place your foot at mid-calf height with your heel just below the knee. This technique applies to checking any kicks that target the calf or the thigh. Keeping your foot at this level allows for effective defense while maintaining balance and readiness for a counter-attack. Thanks for watching 🥊🥊🥊

One negative for me: im pretty bad at reading a low kick vs a body kick. So to use this knee check, id probably need to k-block most body kicks. Also, the classic check can be more easily adapted into an "oh shit" defense of a teep (since im not great at reading those either).

    What's stopping them from just coming down with the shin on top of your thigh? What is stopping them from kicking higher to the body, you are giving them and opening under the elbow... Also you wont be off balance when you check a kick if your supporting foot is positioned properly, toes sideways not forward.

    • @troydorseystriking
      @troydorseystriking 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great questions. Just like with any technique you are trying to counter you look for a pattern. For the person to kick down on your thigh is a different kick angle which means a different pattern which means a different counter/defense. The opening under the elbow is always there, even with the classic check. If you raise the classic check up too high, the person can kick underneath your leg to the opposite leg. If you’re worried about the person kicking to the body again that’s a different kick angle which means a different pattern which means a different counter/defense. You’re definitely right that you have better balance when you make sure that you’re supporting foot is positioned properly however we were commenting on common mistakes made when using the classic check because of the speed in which you have to act to pull it off. Thanks for the questions and for watching 🥊🥊🥊

    My favorite teep placement. Works really well with inverted teep too

    Sometimes it’s like catching a fastball, you sit there for a split second amazed that it worked and you negated all that force 😅❤

    Catching kicks in general is a great way to punish an indiscriminate kicker, forcing your opponent to be more selective about when and where they kick!

    1st. When fighting with legs, that's the minimum defense distance. You can't get punched if you can't get touched. If you're not ready to engage, manage distance and contact. Since you're practicing, he should have switched his angle, or blocked it with his left forearm, deflecting it to his left, and kicked your left leg from under you. Practice. Practice. PRACTICE. AFTER 10K reps you'll master movement.

      Coaches can be funny with stuff like that… at the end of the day if you trust your coach always fall back on what they say 🥊

      Why not just launch the overhand during the inside slip

      I’m not sure about an overhand, but you could definitely launch a cross 🥊

    Youre stalling too much on the feint. That decreases the full potential and power of the actual kick. Also telegraphing a bit too much with the feint. Opens a big window to get countered.

      It's impressive that you got all of that from a 6-second short! You should definitely shoot some of your own videos and post them.
