Honestly I’d get into other miniatures games and wanted to get into war machine about a decade ago, but none of the lgs’ near me have anything other than warhammer. And now it’s even less where I moved only across a state line which was barely 20 miles. So it sucks having limited options of played game systems in my region. As skirmish games with small model counts do intrigue me, even tho I like my big army games.

I have been on the outside looking in with Malifaux for years. My biggest barrier to entry is finding other players in my area. Love the game, love the lore, love the models.

Great recap. Gutted I couldn't join this year! It'll be in the calendar for next. Sorry about the result - sounded like a rough run but it's nice to be put through the ringer at tournements and see the level people play at outside the local meta. Lets you know how high the skill ceiling is. On to the next one, and on the topic of get more games in lets get some in; it's been a while!

What ive noticed about people in this hobby and especially content creators, if they harp on GW model price they arent a fun person to play (they havent made friends who just use proxies/resin prints etc) because the only time cost to play is an issue is when you have to play at official stores because no one invites you over to just play lol

It's a bit of an unfair comparison. Most of the things you mentioned, like escalating costs, amount of miniatures, difficult transport, long turns, etc. are the effect of Warhammer 40k being an army game, and Malifaux being a skirmish game. I'm interested how Malifaux compares to Kill Team, which also doesn't have any of the problems you mentioned with 40k, and at first glance even seems cheaper than Malifaux. Of course it all comes down to preference, and Malifaux has an awesome and unique aesthetic!

Honestly if it weren't for some of the more fiddly model construction - and some not great instructions at times, there was a piece of one model I never figured out where it went but the model didn't look like it was missing anything so I didn't worry about it - I wouldn't have any problems with the game.

damn the arcanists leadership looks a bit bland and pretty much al the same. edgy token female feminist with the exact same expression on their face,same boring background (cringe) and nothing actually unique... hope there will be moreentertaining arcanists inthe future.

40k has good books and minis but other than that ...ehhhh....

GW charges an arm, a leg, and internal organs for a single outdated mini. They deserve to go bankrupt for their anticonsumer stupidity.

The Other Side is also by Wyrd and uses the same deck of cards instead of dice. Its an army level game.
