Charlie Weis gets a bad rap from some low IQ and ignorant people that don't know who he really is. He's a SHARP guy who cares and is very intentional and does a lot of selfless, touching things that go unnoticed. I saw it when I was on campus and he deserves much more respect. He may not have succeeded at ND, but he did a lot of good things for the university. Great to hear about his significant weight loss transformation and hope finds new energy to deal with that third grandkid!

Hearing his voice like this brings me back in time, man do I wish we pulled off that game with SC in 05, I wonder if things turn out any different.

Great candour from Charlie. I understand that there is some over the top ire from the Irish community for his tenure, but it isn’t all of us. I am interested to hear what “gaps” he sees in the team and how “I don’t see Georgia guys out there”. The Irish secondary is at least equal to Georgia, as is the DB and running back room. In two games against Georgia the total margin of victory was 8 points. And Ole Miss has a number of deficiencies as well that he seems to ignore in his comment “you had better hope not”.

I was chuckling at Carter Karel's description of playing at ND....."Golf Polite". "Nasty" is not most ND fans' thing. It sounds too evil. ND fans are "Midwest Nice" + "Do Unto Others" with Passion, lol. We like our teams to play smash mouth football with good sportsmanship. We aren't going to assault fans of other teams, but treat them with kindness. If that makes ND an easier place to play, so be it. We want nasty in our football players (within the rules) but understand that football is still just a game as passionate as we are. I think that is something to be celebrated about Notre Dame.

In you 5th or 6th year of eligibility, building that players confidence is NOT the number 1 or 2 priority. Giving your team the best chance for success against a top opponent is. Trust the coaches! Tosh Baker has had every chance in the world, and can't take it and run with it. That tells me everything I need to know.

No one on the ND beat has seen enough to determine thoughts on specific players.....you have NOT seen much this fall camp. OMG...terrible reporting on Knapp! I am trying to figure out what makes you qualified to determine anything about football? What exactly are your credentials beyond you played some high school ball?
