Thanks for reviewing Gavin. Needless to say you've saved an interesting dram to close off this series... and you've turned it into an enjoyble and honest review Slàinte mhath
I really enjoyed the Tobermory. I don't have a ton of experience with the distillery, but liked the funky, dirty aspects to it.
Really like the Benriach distillate but it was the cask finish that didnt tick the boxes for me on this release. I know they have to mix it up and keep it interesting
Thanks as always for reviewing Gavin. Due to the cask types up front not my go to drams. But interesting enough to hear your thoughts. Slàinte mhath
I like how you really contemplate those sips.
I like the posters in the back. Where do you get them from?
They are tea towels
Another interesting video, Gav. I’m curious to know, why are Cadenheads so reticent in divulging the exact details of this bottling, or indeed many of their other bottlings?
Hello Gav,always pleasant to watch your reviews.I learn about Whiskies from you,thanks.I have a tobermory 15 year in the dark bottle and wood box,never opened though.
But is steel heavier than feathers?
Thanks for reviewing Gavin Up front for me less interesting than the Dufftown and Glenburgie as I prefer bourbon matured whisky, but always interesting what your thoughts are. Slàinte mhath
Another good review Gav - thanks
Thanks for reviewing Gavin Two for me interesting drams as they're both bourbon matured. Up front most interested in the Glenburgie. But given your tasting notes the Dufftown certainly sounds worth trying as well. And regarding your setup: I personally prefer this over other camera positions you've tried. To have a view of what's going on on the table makes it for me more informative. Slàinte mhath
Welcome back Gavin. Good to see you looking fully refreshed. Hope you have a good time 👍 Ive heard some talk that this is a teaspooned Gl..f.......h but alot of these enigmas are educated guesses at best which is all part the fun. Ive had quite a few ive got on a whim, really enjoyed them and bought back up bottles. You might be able to catch a 20cl of the SB 13 but the 70s are all away by now. Be interesting to hear your thoughts on a few of the others as wellninntge series.
Thanks for the video Gav. Hope you enjoyed your holiday.
Hi Gav, I always watch your reviews of the Cadenhead new releases and have purchased several bottles from Cadenhead's based on your reviews. 😊
Thanks for reviewing these two, Gav. I haven't tried anything from either distillery as yet, but Glenburgie is one I've already thought might be worth trying sometime if it appears in my market. The audio has been good the last 2-3 videos. I don't think you should have to spend more money for another microphone. I still suspect--but it's only a suspicion/hunch--that the mic. equipment itself is fine, it's just a matter of working out how best to position it, and that despite its ball shape the mic. is still fairly uni-directional/linear. As some others commented earlier, it's good to see the whiskies on the table, but when you had the camera closer and at roughly eye-level I think the sound was even better/clearer, so maybe you had the mic. in a slightly different position then to achieve that? It's difficult in terms of fitting all the equipment in useful places that don't get in the way, and particularly finding an arrangement that's simple/easy to set up so you're not faffing about too much. Cheers!
thanks for the feedback
Nice Gav. I tend to pass on Dufftown & I don’t know why tbh. Need to broaden my horizon. I did hear the Glenburgie was a standout tho. Cheers Pal 🥃
Cheers Gav, well that is why you fork out for a good camera, the odd free bee & they get publicity I feel that's a win-win.😉
Thanks for the review, Gavin. Happy new year!
Two Stacks is available in Tesco's in small cans, just guessing at this point, containing approximately 2 drams. Two choices, one like yours and the other a malt I believe, they are priced about £4 - £6 depending on which one you choose and whether there is a discount available. I bought one out of curiosity and it was ok for the money.
Great review. What's the chances of the 35yr old being a "Burnside" too.
Thanks for the review, Gavin. I usually get the Cadenhead's tasting packs, so I really appreciate that you regularly cover them. Regarding the Enigma 35 yo, maybe it was the circumstance - I had it after two higher abv whiskies in the lineup, and it was poured out of a 700 ml bottle at a tasting - but I didn't get the90s prickle that you did. I've had, better whiskies of this age, but at this price point was happy to get a bottle. Will be curious to hear what you think about how it evolves if you get it. Also: What I heard at the 13:00 tasting is that, while they don't know for sure what it is, there is some suspicion based on circumstantial evidence that it is indeed a Burnside...
@@andrewj8920 i think it could be a burnside
i think you will change your mind ;;
I really enjoyed the Burnside 🥃👌
Nice review Gav. Hope you had a great holiday.
Good to have you back, Gavin. Hope you've had a great holiday. And certainly some interesting drams in this tasting pack. Looking forward to the series. Slàinte mhath
Apparently there are no grains used. Just malts.
This is a tremendous whisky. Got it for around 100 at auction.
Thanks for this review, Gav, and I hope you have a lovely time in the Canary Islands sunshine. The audio in this vid was excellent.
Springbank 10 goes really well with irn brew! Tasty stuff.
Welco e back at the table, Gavin 😊 Thanks for reviewing this Bunnahabhain. Hope you'll enjoy your holiday. Slàinte mhath
Happy New Year Gav. I prefer that angle of the camera where you can see the bottle and the glass . Good idea about future purchases. I might have to think about that as well in the future . I have no more room to store any more bottles, or the wife will have a fit. So it will be one out , one in at best.
that looks a good un ;;
Can't beat a Bunnahabhain. Enjoy your holiday Gav.
Good compromise on the set up Gav. Hope you have a super holiday and enjoy yourself. Cheers
The Best 12yr old whisky 🥃 🔥🔥🔥👌
Happy New Year ALL, good idea with the budget but I can't see you sticking to it.
I have 841 bottles,all unopened
How many opened?
@gavsdrams maybe 10 bottles,I'm not really a Whisky drinker,more of a collector.Where I live in Canada the cadenhead 7 star sells for $180
Hi Gav, new year new me and all that balldar dash! I need to start finishing my bottles. I liked the table set up Gav.
A 30 yr Whisky and you swallowed it less then 10 seconds,didn't give it chance to revel itself Mr Gav.
Feedback is always welcome It is a review if I was drinking this it would take about 40 minutes and it was a bottle kill
Re the setup. My two penn'orth, it's better. Audio great 👍 personal pref is seeing the table and glass. I know some whiskytubers have notes out of shot or hidden from immediate view. Always nice to mix it up tho. I tried the standard 7 star blend last year and not being into heavily sherried took a punt. Found it very moreish, perfect drinking strength and the bottle just didn't last as long as I hoped to see it evolve. Not a bad dram for the price. I can only imagine the 30 similar but with much older more refined stock.
The setup gets a 👍🏼.
Nice set up this way, Gavin. Agree on the audio. However, personally I preferred to see the table. F.e. when you would do a video where you have more than one whisky poured I would like to see them both. On the dram: have not tried it, but up front the colour indicates sherry to me, so less interested (but I can be wrong of course) Slàinte mhath
I agree with alecky1972, the audio was excellent, seeing the bottle close to the camera was excellent, no problems with the focus. No problems with glare from the light reflecting off the bottle but just something to beware of in the future when aligning the bottle on its stand close to the camera? I also prefer this where the camera is level with your face rather than before where it was angled down somewhat to show the table. Here you're closer to the camera which is again an improvement. Thanks also for reviewing the Cadenhead's 7 Stars 30yo, sounds a delicious dram. Have a great relaxing holiday, Gav. Cheers!
I like it this way Gav, i can hear you better too. Happy New Year.
Have the 18 year old Still dint know way I bought it
i grabbed 2 bottles from the demijohns back in September. Fantastic stuff. Also got a cage bottle of Hazelburn
I like the idea of purchasing less, but more expensive bottles. Regarding the camera set up I like seeing the bottle of whiskey on the table throughout the review. Just my opinion.
Happy New Year, Gav! Your budget is entirely your decision so if it works for you then that's excellent. I struggle to find value with expensive malts so doubt I could do likewise. Buying less is good. I've said before: I'd be very happy to see you review occasional bottles from your collection that aren't current/recent releases because for me it's about learning about the range/diversity of whiskies and their flavours. Likewise with the set-up: the fact it's easier and quicker for you is a definite plus. I'm accustomed to seeing the bottle and glass on the table but am sure I'll get used to this new setup. Try it for a few weeks and see how it settles. Seeing less of your collection in the room is a small minus.😉 Half teasing. Cheers!
Happy New Year Gav
Your shelves seem to show your bias toward Caddenhead so I'll take your vlog with a grain of salt.
Yes i buy from Cadenhead's Bias that is for others to decide When i review a whisky i am not reviewing Cadenheads I am reviewing the Distiller
