In this episode the bees are robbing the sides of the nucs. The bees are fighting each other because syrup is leaching out of the side of my poly nucs and causing a frenzy, wasps and hornets are chewing huge holes in the boxes.

Interesting and disappointing. Have you raised the issue with the manufacturer? I just use poly mini nucs with syrup feeders that can be removed. If a decent wood brood box lasts 30+ years, how long is the life expectancy of a poly nuc? While poly is a good insulator, it cracks too! It can, as shown, be nibbled by wasps and bees! OK, zip lock baggies might offer you a way out. I don't want to air criticism at the poly nuc having never used a full frame sized one. I don't like the design just by viewing images. Yes I have raised it with the manufacturer, they said to paint it with masonry paint, I have done that, it’s reduced the leaching but not eliminated it. Sadly the producer has ceased trading. Big zip lock baggies sounds like an excellent fix, I’ll give that a go next season
Masonary paint won't seal the leak , it's of use to colour poly against sunlight and if it is what I bought, possibly water based! Polystyrene is a tad of a problem with some paints and sprays. Oil based would seal wood, should do the same for you. The narrowness of the feeder makes it hard to paint. Put wasp traps out to 😂😂 👍👍

i use them but never have used the side feeder took them out to have 8 frames ..i bought top feeders from paynes .but closed down now .have made ekes for some and use rapid feeder ..you have to be careful if you use some glues as it will burn into them ..can you not move the nuc someware else .
I moved them to here because there were less wasps and hornets than at my other nuc apiary. I think I will make top feeders for them.

That is thick syrup with the inside painted with 2 coats of masonry paint. I don’t know if I have had a few dud ones or what
@DraigwenHoney saw someone else report an issue with leakage...oh well let's see who buys the moulds and if they sort the issue out
