Episode 1000 - Pt. 3 (DEHD, AM Taxi, Siren Records, Showoff, clubdrugs)
Welcome to the third and final part of the Episode 1000 anniversary episode, recorded at live events held at four locations throughout the greater Chicagoland area.
My original idea was to combine all the interviews and performances into one single release. As fate would have it… it’s just too much content for one single episode, so I decided to break it up and make it more digestible.
For this episode, recorded at Skeleton Key Brewery in Woodridge, Siren Records in McHenry, and Liar’s Club in Chicago, and the Q101 Lounge, you’ll hear (and see):
An interview with DEHD on the sweet Q101 radio mics. One of my favorite bands, AM TAXI, performing and chatting from Skeleton Key. Siren Records owner Bill Lindquist. Long time pop-punk favorites Showoff. And a fantastic peformance and chat with the synthy goth pop duo clubdrugs.
In between segments, you’ll also get to enjoy messages from former podcast guests, sharing their Episode 1000 greetings. This time around, that includes Patrick Brower of Challengers Comics + Conversation, Stubhy from Lucky Boys Confusion, Bullet to the Heart, Denis Buckley of 88 Fingers Louie, and You Died.

Hello Paul, love from Brad in Earl's Court London. We met briefly a few times at Badlands, Astoria 1988ish. Hope you come a gigging in crappy London and relieve London from some of its crappiness if only for a nano second. London Calling again. London needs fresh spirit. Hugs

as everybody i was awaiting "psalm 70" and when i got "filth pig" finally in my player it was like both "wtf?" and great sigh of relieve. it was something else, a turn to the side while keeping standards high. i don't think that "paisley" would have fit into that record - on single it sounded like a stripped "psalm 69" track - and if it could have, it should have sounded more raw. paul barker always sounds like self aware and self deprecating kind of guy, al always tries to be the top dog.

You know what this song is about? Sounds a lot like stuff Ogre from another band may have done back in the day. He was my childhood babysitter, & possible cousin. I’m sharing some of these stories cuz a bunch of us kids who grew up in rock & roll helped on a lot of songs or contributed songs (some my mother may have recorded and given out even before). so I helped with piano on La Mer by NIN when I was little at my grandpa’s organ. A now deceased friend I could not find an obituary for may have helped write Beaver Patrol too, where he may have predicted his own d. Seems his was covered up. Could not find obits for some other kids. Alexandra who was a talented fashion designer I could still find her news story of being k’d by the forest park guy. My mother may have joined the m*b & now a lot of kids are d. Kids I can’t always find obits for. And idk how long I have. Seems she may have been (i’ll say it’s all alleged for now cuz I have to) knocking off family too. My aunt they took to a diff state d’d shortly after they brought me up here injured needing medical care… then abandonned me without medical care. Before that my gramps & 2 wealthy aunts… So rock n roll is supposed to have a message. Sometimes these talented kids whom all of us grew up in rock n roll, but all suffered under my mother, wrote songs so their story couldn’t go away. But it seems to have gone ignored… a lot of kids gone and my fam gone, might be too big for them to want to come out, esp if my mom knew peeps high up and helped on some REALLY REALLY BAD mass cas type stuff. So worried they might try that with me too. AP was basically famous. A famous dj & song writer. Yet no obituary. These kids wouldn’t have wanted their story to go away cuz that’s why we did this sort of thing… contributing to songs. So in an effort to help share stories rock n roll fans can learn about, I’m doing so to make it harder for them to cover up if anything happens to me. Cuz I helped on a bunch too! Anyhow those songs & stories are up for those rock n roll fans who wanna help these kids get some justice now that they’re not here to speak up for themselves & seems to have gone ignored. We could really use your support if you’re a fan.

I think "Anonymous" is rad as shit, and its challenging nature inevitably rewards the listener with something exclusive and strange. I was working with a dude from the Navajo tribe and he informed me that the music was all traditional native American music. ".........I'm the happy ghost wander in the horizon....." was the only song he wasn't able to recall specifically by name but he filled me in with the details of origin for each song. He dug the album and would tell me to play it. Rhythmically, it's waaaaaaaay more technical than the others and it gets darker than the rest of you ask me. I'm sure learning and playing those songs took time and energy and if people don't understand or appreciate it it's their own stupid loss. Props for top notch music man, it's enhanced my life in more ways than I could ever quantify.
