Reloading the Open Box M Pochade Box
The Open Box M Pochade box is hands down the best Plein air painting system ever designed. I have enjoyed mine for over 25 years and can’t imagine the box not lasting for another 25.

How to open a Julian French Easel Quick!
มุมมอง 13K7 ปีที่แล้ว
I made this quick video to respond to some of my students requests on how to open this easel. I hated seeing students get down on the ground to open it when it can be easily done standing up

มุมมอง 1.5K10 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks, I put together this short video of my acrylic technique sorry for the choppy audio I'm still trying to figure it out but I hope it inspires you a bit. The subject is Provincetown, A place I love to paint here in MA. with a long history of artists. If you have any questions about this video please let me know I'm happy to answer them.

Robert Abele paints plein air the Landing a iconic landmark in Eastham MA. while describing his process. Produced and shot by Karen Duble.
Great, thank you I’ve been looking at several instructions and so far no one’s really been able to explain it except you, so 😊thank you.
I can’t even get the legs out in the first place. Not useful video at all.
ПОЗДРАВЛЯЮ. ПРЕКРАСНО. РАД ЗА ТЕБЯ! ПИШИ ПРЕКРАСНЫЕ АКВАРЕЛИ И ПОКАЗЫВАЙ НА. VOU TUBE
Awesome video! Thank you.
Thank you so much for this. Mine arrived without any instructions or guides and was beyond frustrating. It wasn’t clear even how to open the legs. I had to get help from my husband, who does woodworking.
That knee hack! And that 'hold it by the handle' trick! Definitely a simpler method! Thank you 🤩
Thank you!!!
robert please come back, i miss you
Valuable info. Thank you
When you spend that much money on an expensive box like that, it only takes a couple of minutes to clean it at the end of the week, maintenance is every thing
I did it too. This is what I used Woodglut designs for
This is the ONLY video that really, really explains the easy way of setting up the easel. THANKS A MILLION!!! You are awesome!
Excellent video!! I knew there would be a more convenient way to do this
Thanks for this!! I just found my easel and totally could NOT remember how to set it up. You made it quick and easy! YAY!!
Thank you sir 👍🏼
Thank you soooo much!
Thank you :)
45 seconds.... very nice
do you get to choose what the color is?
6:17 before we see the palette?
Thank you for sharing your joy!!
And the trays on the side aren't even level, so you can't really mix much at all.
This is the first video on this I've seen that includes breaking down as well as setting up. Great. I do wish someone would demonstrate how you would do this with a canvas attached you want to transport on the easel.
The Landing is now closed and for sale.
:)
Thank you for the review. I tooK Alvaro Castagnet's workshop, he uses this box.
Sad
Did you notice that your you tube video is on the website!!!!!!
Yes I was very surprised, glad to share!
Very exciting :)
Aren't you worried that your address is showing? Lol. If I was better at watercolor, I'd get one of those.
But with a palette like that, you'll get better!!
Really enjoyed watching you paint. Love your color palette and style! When you added the white, it was like magic! Thanks for sharing! If you ever want a vacation in the Ozarks, I'd certainly try to set up a workshop for you!
Hello
Thank you for the Review :)
...this is bob, from bobs burgers
I believe Charles Reid uses one of these, too. He teaches worldwide so it gets a lot of use! Yours is gorgeous! I'm "racing green" jealous! Enjoy it!! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Impressive...love the plaid bag!
I think unboxing videos are a waste. I do want that palette.
Green with envy
This pallet is nothing so special, but it is handy, like many of them. If you are a good artist, any pallet could be well. Regardless of their pallets, I wish to everyone to do the best art what they could. PS Did you get some money from Craig Young for his marketing? Good job for both of you. :)
I can't wait, especially after watching your video again and I have another 6 months to go! My art tutor Jake Winkle has one and I see John Yardley uses one in his DVDs also. It is just the best I've seen. Mine will be Cobalt blue. Yum.
+Carole Mattock Great Carole , I just received my 2nd palette from Craig a palette Box in British green. I wouldn't hold your breath on that 1 year wait time, mine took almost 15 months yes and it was worth the wait but 1 year wait is unrealistic.I ordered the palette box to have a larger mixing area and it is beautiful.I also ordered a tartan pouch from Craig but received one made of faux black leather I never said anything because I couldn't imagine waiting 6 months for the correct one lol, all in all you will love it
Jake Winkle = Awesome Artist
Well I know that I will never be able too buy one. I am glad for others that will be so Lucy to have one
Are those half full or whole pans?
At 400.00 a box that's over 800,000 dollars of sales. I'm sure there is a lot of work to make one, just wish they weren't so expensive. 50.00 to ship to the USA too
I had this exact thought, but after watching some videos on how brass sheets get formed and hinges tuned, I'm convinced it's actually quite a hard process to manufacture en masse. A experienced maker can probably produce one to two boxes a day, it costs about $50 for paint and materials per box, so you can really only make around $700 a day. It's not actually that lucrative even as a business.
bit of an error on authors part. They are not "hand hammered out of copper" but out of brass. Slip of the tongue I'm sure
Beautiful!
It is very good box! How such to buy?
that is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship... Enjoy!
Wow! Fortunate YOU!!! =D BIG CONGRATS!!! I just bought this baby for now, www.artsupplies.co.uk/item-cloverleaf-paint-box.htm One of these days I too will treat myself to one; AFTER I have sold My Paintings! Thanks A Million For Sharing; and Perpetual Success! ~Add Love!™
Anyone have any experience with the less expensive knock-offs. I would enjoy specifics. Many thanks.
I just wish I could see the painting in higher resolution, as you paint it, the image is very dark. It looks great, I just wish it was clearer during that process. I know there is a nice pic at the end, but just an observation.
I agree very dark...couldn't see anything...the painting in end doesn't look great...sky all one color..too dark...
I have one too 😍
will i have no. 36
I've never seen a grown man get so excited by a delivery. I can't imagine what you're like at Christmas but it must be a very joyful sight. Hope you get years of pleasure from your palette, I have to wait til I retire before I can get one! :(
