Motovlog // The Ultimate Minimalist Setup // Speed Twin 1200

You can get overwhelmed when wanting to start a Motovlog TH-cam channel with all the gear you THINK you need to the point where you never begin. Minimalism is something I have prescribed in recent years in aspects of my life and I am trying to use it to keep my filming gear to a minimum. I am sure this will change in time but I do believe less is more and upgrading and getting more gear I think...

Loved the video! Been wanting to get into biking for a long while now myself. Having done several spinal fusions makes it quite daunting though. Don't even know if there's any bike out there that would let me ride without causing too much back pain. This video makes me really want to get my license even more though!
Ah man that sounds tough.Maybe something lighter would enable you to ride pain free.Thank you for watching and hopefully you can get that license
@@NoNameMotoTV Yeah, too bad most "light" bikes look kinda "meh". Been considering a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 or maybe a Classic to start with and see if my body could even handle riding. They seem kinda neutral/relaxed in their ergonomics. They do weigh quite alot compared to what they are though.
@ yeah that’s the issue, they seems small but the weight can be quite high
I've passed your particular vintage but can say that even though my kid has grown and moved on there are still demands on your time and most likely always will be but that doesn't lessen the joy you feel when you can ride. My takeaway is to ride when you can and enjoy every moment, same for time off the bike, those times are precious as well. It's a one way ride with no do overs, make the most of what we get, while we have it. Ride safe and keep the videos coming, if you have time that is :)
Brilliant comment, thank you. Yes I will always try make the time as it is always worth it, even if only a very short blast. Definitely more videos to come as I am enjoying doing videos almost as much as riding
Hi, thought your video was great 👍 very thought provoking. I too hardly ride my bike as I work away a lot and when I return I’m busy with my family. At 58 I am retiring in 3 months. And hope I can make the time to ride more. I also take comfort in knowing my bike is waiting in my garage. Good luck with your Chanel.
Thanks for the comment.i agree, just knowing I have a bike in the garage ready to go makes a big difference but I just itch to get out all the time.Thank you for watching
Great that you got a chance to get out on the bike without some rain 🙂
A quick dash during my lunch break seems to be the best I can get at the moment 😜
@@NoNameMotoTV out on the bike is out on the bike, no matter how long for! 😀
Inspired me to get some bar end mirrors for the Suzuki, been meaning to get some for aaaaages!
Solid set up, clear audio and video! Looking forward to more content mate!
Thank you very much, appreciate the kind comment. More to come
Good luck on your journey! Just invested in the Action 4 myself - was still using the GoPro Hero 3+ up to end of Dec which still managed 2.7k @ 30fps but loving what the Action 4 can produce with the reduced shutter speed and filters! Still experimenting with sound as looking for more of a raw exhaust experience. Might be worth giving the mic mini a try! Sub'd. 👍
Thanks mate, appreciate the comment and sub.I tried the MIC mini in my jacket pocket yesterday to get more exhaust sound but it was just too much in the wind. I think a backpack or under the seat is ideal. I love the DJI cameras, to me, they are so much easier to use and smaller which is great for motovlogging. I have returned the sub
Roll on spring/ summer hopefully a better one this year so we all can get out on the bikes more 👍
@@andrewmason2879 can not wait
Good look with your channel mate. And that is the best approach you do it for yourself and take every thing with a pitch of salt has they say. You have one more subscriber 👍👍
Thank you so much for the comment.
I too have thak crekky sound..have u found what it is !? Thanks
Also what spec ND filter do you use? Is it a N16, ND8? I live in the UK so grey days like your videos is what I get so any advise on which level of ND filter you go for???
On this day it was really grey so I used a CPL filter which is basically clear. I think I could have gone ND8 (next step up) but may have been a bit too dark
Great idea! This is what im currently doing with one camera! just having fun creating short videos, still learning with all the basic features! thanks for giving me assurance that this is possible to do without a mega budget!
Cheers for the comment. Just goes to show you don't need much to start and have fun
Hi and thank you for your minimalist setup video. I also started to motovlog and appreciate all down-to-earth setups. Good luck with your channel!
@Moto50plus thanks for the message and appreciate the comment.I will check out your channel as well
love the setup man its so crisp! It's got this awesome vibe to it - Do you do any post colouring editing? Keep it up man look forward to the next video
Thanks man, no colour grading( still figuring that part out) using CapCut so just applied a basic filter. The ND filter on the Osmo I think really helps it look good.Cheers for the feedback, just enjoying the process
@@NoNameMotoTV Nice man its looking great!! I use CapCut too - it does have some really good colour grading features, easy to use but I mostly have to do that because the gopro footage is very flat with no ND filter :D
It is a bit of minefield but all part of learning 😂, hopefully I will figure it all out.Your vids look great
@@NoNameMotoTV sweet man feel free to reach out if you ever need a hand, i might need to try and ND filter after seeing your video 🤣
Great video and love the citations and music. 10 out 10!
@@RRatedCustoms thanks mate, appreciate it
While I agree with the half-decent idea, I also believe in long term budgeting. My action camera footage looks half-decent now, because at the time I bought it, it was the top end. I have gotten by with it for 8 years now, only bought 2 additional batteries, to have 3 in total. The video quality difference with others can seem to be an issue in couple of years, if you go for what is half-decent now. Sure, you end up spending less now. But you will get the itch to replace it sooner. Like, you already mentioned in this video, about upgrading to 5, which is the very next model 😁
@@theodorstravels really funny, I have literally just bought a Action 5, only because I want to Bluetooth connect 2 DJI mics and the 4 can’t do that.I will sell the 4 to offset the cost.I still want to try and keep it only 1 action camera and my phone. The more gear I have the more overwhelmed I find the process
@@NoNameMotoTV Selling old stuff will help to ease the ache in the wallet a little bit, sure. I am also on the verge of giving up and upgrading. Just as soon as I can prove my budget to myself.
Nice setup mate. Can do it even more minimalistic with a wired mic which would save a lot of money and no need to keep it charged, and def no real need to upgrade from the 4 to the 5 either. I wish I had not spent half as much as I have on action cameras and 360 cameras and at all on drones.... or at least got better at selling kit when I did upgrade. Currently I run a GoPro Hero 10 which has a big crack in the rear screen, but records great quality video, I'll only replace it if it breaks or becomes unreliable. That RODE Mini looks a great bit of kit, I'd have to secure it in the chin if I were to run something like that... I'd be paranoid I'd lose it or get annoyed with it moving around otherwise! 😀
Thanks mate. When I tried this all in the past with a GoPro I really didn’t like all the cables so when Dji came out with the Mic mini it changed everything for me.It also does depend on the helmet, my Schuberth C5 does not have enough space inside the chin bar to fit anything
@NoNameMotoTV yeah long cables suck, my current mics only have a 5" cable so no messing.
That voice to road noise level was great. How did you eliminate the head in a bucket sound I get with my vision shut? Was that natural from the mic or did some magical editing work?
@ that is just the mic.I think most people use the noise cancellation feature but I left that off to allow some road noise in, I think it works well.Cheers for the feedback
Nice, I'm in the midst of compiling my set up over the winter to be ready for the spring/riding season. I just got the action 5 with the mic mini, Just wondering what you used to mount to the helmet? I ordered the chin mount helmet specific for mine, I've heard good things and I'm hoping it works out, last thing I'd want to see is my new camera disintegrating in the mirrors as I'm riding away. I use Quad lock as well and the tripod is looking like it might be an upcoming acquisition. Cheers
I should have shown that part tbh.Yes chin mount.I have tried various mounts but found the chin mount so secure that I have full confidence in it.Not cheap for a bit of plastic but worth it.Just today I have bought a Action 5, will sell the 4 and plan to try 2 mic minis, one for talking and one for exhaust
Hi, I have a T120 and I put a Unit Garage side bag on, the sub frame model and it fits pretty snug and not very noticeable when the bag isn't on, there are different bag options as well. I also literally started a channel a few days ago to film the mods on the bike, local rides etc. Problem is I'm in Canada and it's freezing out so I'm in the concept phase still 😂Best of luck
Thanks man, I have since removed the SW motech bags as they just do not look right. Freezing here in the UK but I bet no where as bad as Canada. Best of luck, I have subbed and will follow your journey. It is a bit of a minefield
@@NoNameMotoTV Thanks, appreciated, realistically it'll probably be awhile before anythings gets uploaded though. I look forward to more vids from you, keep em coming 👍
@@outofthecage New one out Saturday 😉, time is the challenge
Hello No Name Moto. Your new Speed Twin is really a gorgeous machine. Congrats. I was wondering if you could describe the difference in foot position between your Bonneville and your ST?
Hey Dave, the 865 I found was not us much of a 90 deg bend in the leg compared to a new T100, I owned one in the past, so I would say the speed twin as further back foot position compared to the 865 but not as much as you would think. The 865 Bonnie has a really low seat height which makes the seat to peg distance not that far and if someone was taller than me (5ft7) it could feel cramped. For me I didn't notice the foot position that much, the bars are more noticeable as you are canted just a little but more forward on the speed twin compared to the Bonneville. The new t100's however is much roomier than the 865 Bonneville I had, much more 90 deg bend in the knee and upright bars so really depends on what year you go for. The 865 to me is sportier and handles better
@@NoNameMotoTV Thank you muchly for the detailed reply. It's very difficult to get a proper feel for the riding position while sitting on one in the showroom. God bless and keep the shiny side up.
Great video, you look just like me, I think we need to pay the guy!!
Exactly the same bolt snapped on my 2024. But Triumph have replaced it FOC. But I'm now concerned to find the same failed on your bike.
That is worrying. I replaced both now for piece of mind
Love the SW Motech bags and I was going to get them but you’re right from the back the stick out too much. I’m looking at the Oxford Aqua D50 to use for trips.
Yeah, I am not sold on them tbh. I will have a look at the oxford ones as an alternative
come on , you really think a how to. is nessecary ? Nce wheels tho !

I had many bikes when I was younger but only passed my full license in 2021. Which is when I bought the only bike I've owned in the last 4 years. A 2019 Speed Twin 1200. I love it. Go everywhere on it.
I need to learn to stick to one.I have just changed now to a speed twin, I think this one will stick 😂
