Mandarake is literally a Museum and you can buy every single piece! When you're visiting in Japan you must visit this store chain with second-hand products plucked right out of your childhood. Japan knows many mascots nowadays and that wasn't any different in the past. Lay your eyes upon the entire collection of retro and vintage mascots such as Peko Chan from Milky. Japanese collect many things such as Sofubi or Kaiju "Strange Beasts" made from Soft Vinyl, these can often be hand painted as well. The most famous Kaiju is Godzilla! There are also many collectible Disney figures. It's incredible to see how old they are.
Japan also has their super heroes such as Kamen Rider, Super Sentai (aka the original Power Rangers) and they also like all kinds of Transforming toys, so obviously they also have Transformers! Hanging onto Mecha, There is also a large stock of Gundam Model Kits and Mech Girls and Character kits. You wouldn't guess but Miniature Model Car collecting is also very big in Japan, Tokyo Drift and Eurobeat aren't just popular out of nothing, there is a huge dedication to cars and vehicles in Japan.
There are countless shelves of Shonen Jump, Korokoro and Vintage Magazines. There is a huge collection of Artbooks, which I want to buy every single one of them, haha. Let's not get started on the hundreds of Manga they have for sale.
Next to the vintage items they have the more affordable anime prize and scale figures. From the Shonen series there is Dragon Ball, One Piece, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Bleach, Naruto, Spy x Family and Chainsaw Man. Furthermore we have RE:Zero, Reincarnated as a Slime, Hatsune Miku, Waifus, Konosuba, overlord, SHY, Date A Live, Elaina the Witch, Madoka Magica, Yuru Camp Classroom of the Elite, Detective Conan, Final Fantasy and Atelier Ryza.
We're not done yet, next to all these figures they have various trading card series such as Sailor Moon, One Piece and Pokemon. There is also a Retro Gaming section for Vintage consoles such as the Super Nintendo, Famicom, Sega Saturn but also Playstation and 3DS. If you're looking to have your favourite anime series or ghibli movies on DVD, you can find them here as well.
On top of all these amazing collectibles, every single item is in such good condition, you would never see in the West. Japanese believe in objects having spirits and therefore you need to take good care of them. I think we have a lot to learn from them!
