This video shows you the process of replacing an engine mount / isolator [front] on a 2007 Buell XB12X Ulysses. This is the first of many how to videos i will post for the Ulysses. The process should be identical to replacing a mount on most XB12 Buells. Replacement parts from Peter @ www.srwmoto.com.au in Melbourne VIC Australia. Warning / Avoid Harley dealers if possible as the warranty proce...

What size tools did you use?

I have been trying to find the same info online to no success. I assume the hex size needed is a 9 as the 8 and 10 I tried yesterday did not work. Headed to the shop with the bolt today to get a match this time just in case.

I got a 99 buell x1 lightning and I believe the front isolator completely gave out it’s just melting on the mount and frame by chance would all the tube frames take the same bushing?

Harley Davidson's oil is the best, rebranded, overpriced oil there is lol. Just use mobile 1 vtwin 20/50 full synthetic is what I use In my xb12s.i even use the mobile1 15w50 full synthetic from time to time in the cooler months ( it's a little thinner at start up and is just right at temperature) my buell has close to 20k and runs like new. Marketing is so terrible, I do not believe harley brand oil offers anything spectacular for its additional costs. Do your own research tho. These are great machines, and I suppose its mostly important to just make sure to change the oil regularly than fuss about brands. Harley brand oil makes me cringe tho, I'm sure it's a waste of money, and is a rebranded cheaper oil they sell, to help profits. Will it work? Of course, do they recommend it, definitely, does it cost more than a non rebranded premium oil, not in my experience. Give your bike some premium oil, she deserves it.

If Harley (and Erik Buell) wanted synthetic oil in the Buell they would have sent it to us with synthetic from the factory. My Harley-Davidson Road King makes too much mechanical noise with synthetic and my mechanic says the oil pressure drops off in Harley’s and Buells if you use synthetic. Your engine...Your choice.

Mine runs like a dream on synthetic. You wouldn't run synthetic till after the first service so everything beds in nicely anyway.

Best thing i did for my xb12ss was get that HD mineral oil out of my engine & primary & replace with Motul 20w 50 synthetic, the difference was totally noticeable. Quieter & cooler. Also make sure you remove that small bung on the opposite side of the crank case to get ALL of the remaining old oil out the engine!! There is about 200mils that remains in there if you only remove the swingarm bung, you end up putting nice clean oil in with that dirty shit if you don't, Beware though the manual states how much you should put back in but thats not correct if you remove that extra 200mils of old oil. You will use a whole 4ltr container for primary & engine & when hot the engine level will be smack bang right in the middle of the dip stick when on side stand & dip stick screwed right in & up to operating temp. It can be abit of a bitch getting that small alien key bung out depending on what type of exhaust you have but with my micron i just cut down the alien key & it slipped in without removing exhaust. It's a little more mucking around but its the only way you can be sure you are putting clean oil into a totally empty crankcase.

Not as often bud, the front will be the culprit most of the time due to the way the motor torques. Even worse if you like wheelies haha
