Had a five footer in our yard this afternoon. What a GORGEOUS fellow. We have our cats in a cattery and the RR had its head through the fencing. Our youngest cat, Butters, slapped him in the face and he was G O N E!

No, they are harmless. They sometimes eat rattlers.
15 yrs ago...going home on a back road...at about 55 mph ten feet in front of us one bolted across the road like a flash of lightning...i never knew how fast they were because our vehical was nowhere near running it over...
So are they hard to catch?
Impossible
I used to try as a kid never could catch one lol plenty of garter snakes though
