The Herbie Hancock Group on Danish TV, 1976
Herbie Hancock and his band perform cuts from the albums “Man-Child” and “Secrets”:
1. Hang Up Your Hang Ups (from Man-Child, 1975)
2. Gentle Thoughts (from Secrets, 1976)
3. Spider (from Secrets, 1976)
This rare, well preserved (!) recording was made for Danish television in 1976.

21:53 love how all that tension resolves here
God I loved this group.
Check out the 3 ft microphone cable of Herbie! Yes, it WAS better before!
So well tecorded. Was a time when TV channels produce this cain of long concerts, all this is gone, what a shame friends.
#2024
The commercials that cut in is too much..😡
What happened to Bill Evans ☮️🎵🎶🎷
is it play back?
This group in particular re-invented funk-soul. It's very particular in the timing and label. I try to samle it but that is disrespectful and difficult because the musicians are impeccable.
Triple thumbs-up!
Each of them must have been surrounded by green screens. Really creative work in the production department that perfectly set off the long-form funkadelia eminating from some of the HEAVIEST cats imaginable.
That last tune spider HERBIE WTF 😳 OMG🥲T.O.JOY
This is so far ahead of its time the future and the past don’t even exist anymore. A gift from the music gods and H.H. Of course. Tremendous production for the technology of the day!! TO COOL FOR SCHOOL 😎
It’s so beautiful
The fine James Levi. This is one of the best live recordings ever. There is nothing like this tightest performance ever
There isn’t anything like this
Funk jazz at it's fines
perfect vibe to start my day
It's always amazed me that Paul Jackson never got sent to prison for the things he did to that bass guitar
20thiest or ever more listenning that heaven hit ... this song is like could heaven ever be like this from Idris Muhamad
All in ONE take. ONE.
Listen, Wah Wah Watson wasn't taking ANY prisoners. At ALL! And I'm sure that Dutch "hospitality" was on point too haha
Phenomenal. On every front including background team. Humanity peaked in the 70's.
I do believe that too. All over the world, from Turkey to Brazil, music artists were in their BAG
I had a bent soprano myself but is this a sopranino?
What a find!
The Danish video team deserves respect. pre/post vid production was phenomenal The way they recorded and controlled the video feeds for this live event - astounding.
No kidding. Most brilliant jam. Perfectly structured. Herbie Hancock, what a composer. There’s never been anything like this to be recorded for us to marvel at
took off my headphones around 9:30. the funk was just too much
Hahahahahahahah
Where did I get this new jack funk jazz groove ponctuation ? I don't care, that's the right one...
More like music from 2076 and 1976
Never ever ever have been more impressed by such beautiful dedication to skill and craft. These gentlemen created the most perfect moment at that time in 1976, not to mention danish. Beautiful video.
Is there a high definition version of this somewhere? Gentle thoughts.
The most incredible deep communication jam of all time period. These gentlemen are so accomplished individually, and they all came together under a well defined structure by a great genius.
Its a damn shame, to say the least, that these brothers were not the influence to so many millions of others. The sad part of it is they went Gangsta!
wow i forgot how good it wa
Is this available on audio somewhere?
A most brilliant performance. Smart Camera angles from sharp Danes show the supreme tightness in all positions. Delicate & delicious it just gets better as geniuses synchronize together.
Hey thanks for sharing this 👀🔥

Fantastique musique.
I m curious to know why Mike clark wasnt in the band at this Time, Drummer is surely very good but i prefer Mike Clark😋
Gentle Thoughts is my favorite track on the album Secrets. Which I still have on vinyl.
I always thought Herbie and Stanley Clarke had two of the better Fro's in Fusion.
Dang I gotta find some Wah Wah Watson album. He's a monster on the guitar 🎸
