I take a similar approach in not removing too much. I only have a small number of trees so it's easy to monitor them and I can make adjustments next year. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you see your kids getting involved and learning about growing things. Gardening in general can be a rewarding and life-long engagement. I hope your trees do well!
