That's amazing! I think I should also do a no buy challenge even though I'm not buying much. Although shopping my own closet doesn't really work for me because I'm always choosing the same stuff 🙈 I probably I need another decluttering session. Do you have specific things you're not buying, or you only buy necessities?

@@greenhypocrite For this one, I am only buying necessities. My aim is to do a low buy for September until the end of year, with goal of just buying one new piece per month. I already have so much, I need to learn to work with what I have rather than getting more. I could probably style a new outfit for every day for the next year at least and never repeat. In other words, I have plenty to choose from, so focusing on styling what I already have is the priority from here on out.

I get that! I'm really not buying much for a few years now, and still, I have so much stuff that has accumulated over the years. I'm sure you're doing great, and you will easily manage these low buy months ✨️ I also believe that a few months like that are enough to change our consumerist patterns, and it will be easier with each week!

Yes! Agreed, but also I think the problem is more complex. Shops are changing their displays every two weeks or faster. Advertisements are everywhere. And avoiding social media can be hard especially for teenagers who want to stay relevant in their social circles... As a designer analyzing trends is a part of my job & I see how it has speed up lately. I also believe that wanting to be trendy isn't bad, but doing it unconsciously, without understanding of the industry, understanding your own style or even understanding yourself can be harmful. And the problem of social-media influence on the psychological state of children now is trully unsettling, but it’s the whole other conversation.
