Explaining The JP Poll. Josh Pate's College Football Show: Ratings vs Rankings
At the Land of Math not only do we love math, but we also love college football. Our fav college football show to watch by far is Josh Pate's College Football Show. (If you like college football I would highly suggest you check it out)
During the past few years there has been confusion about Josh Pate's JP POLL which rates all the teams much like Amazon would rate a set of fine steak knives. This Poll is NOT a RANKING, but a RATING. This leads to a lot of confusion.
In this video the Land of Math will take a shot at explaining how Ratings and Rankings are different. As a recipient of the CHALICE OF SUPREMACY we feel qualified to dive into these choppy waters. We will use last years Oregon v. Washington and the New Mexico State v. Auburn games to help explain.

You barely explained anything or stayed on one topic. This video is trash.
thank you for that that was helpful
"Yeah but still Team A beat Team B, how could you possibly have Team B ahead of Team A?" - casuals even after watching this, because math is hard for casuals.
@@jacenmiller6504 You speak the truth.
thank you for this I was getting so frustrated. Turns out my compass was actually a very loose one. On question i do have is when you get to the very small circles is there a trick? Should you be moving the pencil tip in the pencil perch at all? Thank you !

You’re welcome. Glad it was helpful.
Thank you for highlighting how the system actually works! Too many casuals on Twitter and the like that make me want to drive off a cliff each and every time I see their replies under Josh's release of the poll. Liked and subscribed!
Thanks! I really was just looking for a reason to combine my interest in math and college football. Hopefully the casuals will eventually level up their interest in college football.
Thank you!!! This really helped me 🙏🏻🙏🏻💗💗

Thankyou, great explanation
Awesome! Glad it was helpful.
How do you find the cm? Do you use a ruler to find the height in the original copy and then in the new copy? I’m a bit confused, sorry.
If you don’t know the measurements of two objects you would need to measure to find the dimensions. Then you can find the scale factor (assuming the objects are similar). In my example I gave you the dimensions to make it a bit easier. Hope this helps/makes sense.
@@LandofMath Thank you!! I appreciate your help. 😁
this was quite helpful and helped me alot on meh test
Liked and subbed!! Thank me later -> S M Zeus.
Made easy here😊
Glad it was helpful!
The value is not greater than the number you're dividing by correct? The answer is simply how many decimals add up to make the original value.
Yes. This is a great way of summing this up.
wow you made it easy

You welcome! I'm glad it was helpful.
I mean getting a 0 will skew your grade heavily especially since it's a test, but that depends on how much tests are weighted.
True. To make the example easy to follow I just treated each assignment as if it had equal value. Most teachers weigh test, reports and/or projects more so a zero on one of these would have an even greater impact.
Nicee videoooo

How do you prevent the needle part from poking a hole in your drawing please?
You would probably need to draw the circle on a really hard surface with no papers underneath your drawing. That way the point wouldn't be able poke through. Also, be very gentle with the compass. The lighter you push down the less likely it will go through. Hope this helps. Normally when I draw circles I'm not doing anything fancy so I don't worry about the hole, but I understand if this is a work of art you would not want a hole in the middle of your drawing. Best of Luck
@@LandofMath Thanks so much! I got a fancy Staedtler drafting compass and the needle is as sharp as a sewing needle--keeps poking holes in my work and my drafting table. Tried lots of things, nothing works.
Thank you for helping! I have a test tomorrow
