เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 28 ม.ค. 2018
Hello and welcome to my channel, Comic Mag Musings. My name is Bill and I am a comic book collector, a voracious comic book reader, and a comic book enthusiast. I have been reading comic books since the late seventies. That was when I first discovered all of the magic that Bill Mantlo and Michael Golden managed to pack into the tiny world of the Micronauts. I read all types of comics, including many non-superhero books. This channel will be an eclectic mix of comic book "show-and-tell" features from collections, auctions, and comic book shops. I will also do auction unboxings and CGC unboxings. I'll mix in comic book reviews and some comic book-related discussions. I'm open to exploring all aspects of the comic universe. Please join me in a great big cosmic hug as we embrace our fellow comic book enthusiasts and support one another's passion for collecting.

The Green Hornet TV Show from 1966 / 1967
Season 1, episode 9
A charity art auction of fine paintings at Britt Reid's home is interrupted on live television by three masked, gun-toting criminals. The police, nearby, manage to wound one of the thieves, but before they can arrest the other two, a laser ray is unleashed on their squad car with devastating results. The Green Hornet & Kato find themselves in quite a confrontation against this portable killing machine - especially after Miss Case, whom the Hornet sent to track them with a secret device, becomes their hostage.

Another challenge for The Green Hornet...a laser! Thanks for sharing, Bill! #DesertDwellersUnite
I love the fact that they have to plug it in, lascruces. #DesertDwellersUnite
Nice haul Bill! Marvel Team Up was a wonderful series throughout its run and I was a faithful subscriber for many years. I remember as a kid being so excited to remove the paper sleeve, and years later to open the plastic mailing bag, to see the team up for that month.🎉
It was a great concept, LeadPaint. It was an opportunity to watch the dynamics between to characters that may never have otherwise worked together.
Marvel has been releasing Omnis of the Micronauts this year. They must have run out of things to print.... 😉
Bite your tongue, Jackson!
Nice books Bill and nice grades 👍👍👍...I want some of those prizes 😜😜... Thanks for sharing ✌️ my friend and have a great day b safe out there and stay healthy 🙏🙏
Thanks, Ray. I want in those awesome prizes, too!
Only mentioning a couple of prizes...you're playing with fire, Bill! Awesome Ghost Rider and Micronaughts slabs! Thanks for sharing. #DesertDwellersUnite
Thanks, lascruces. I'm either walking the line, or playing with a ring of fire. #DesertDwellersUnite
Great run of Team-Ups. I'm working on this run. I just won issue 2, 3,and 4.
Congrats on the win, Brian! It is a fun series, especially for Spidey fans.
Nice books Bill 👍👍👍... thanks for sharing ✌️ my friend and have a great day b safe out there and stay healthy 🙏🙏
Thanks, Ray. I appreciate it, sir.
MTU was a cool series. There were two stellar 4-part stories that I know of -- one of which is #s 82-85 with Fury, Shang-Chi, the Widow, and Spidey.
What was the other storyline, Jackson?
@@ComicMagMusings #s 41-44 -- Spidey, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Dr. Doom, and Moondragon.
That was an Amazing and Spectacular haul
I see what you did there, James.
Very nice Bill love this series good stuff my friend👊👊
I appreciate it. There are some fun stories lurking in this series.
Great Marvel Team-Up books! Spider-Man is my all-time favorite. Thanks for sharing, Bill "Rock Me Amadeus" Miller! #DesertDwellersUnite
Thanks, lascruces. Spidey is one of the best! #DesertDwellersUnite
I'll take Ms. Case to lunch!
She happens to be free for lunch on Friday, sir.
How dare they do that to Ms. Case!!!!! If the Green Hornet doesn't get them, I WILL!!
They wouldn't be able to deal with you, Jackson. Better that the Green Hornet finds them first.
While the previous slipcase collections were cool, this one I find the most interesting. The others kinda turn me off since they are color comics reprinted in black and white. These were originally in black and white, so the reproductions are more faithful and accurate. Thank you for showing them.
True, Jackson. And they publish a couple of issues that weren't published originally.
That Hornet makes me green with envy!
He's got it all.
What's that you say??? You're going to try these videos with all the lights off???? PERFECT!
I'd watch that one twice!
ha! Well-done, Jackson.
Good thing Mini Musings doesn't watch this channel
Ha! Too true, James.
Who does?
@@TheJacksonRoykirk As long as Mrs Musings checks keep coming, I have to
Nice fanzine and slabs! You can't go wrong with Ghost Rider and Wolverine. Thanks for sharing, Bill! #DesertDwellersUnite
Thanks for watching, lascruces! #DesertDwellersUnite
Love the Doc Savage books. Marvel Tales were how I read a number of the early Spidey stories. ••• Don't let @ericbreen4340 know you have ASM Annual 15. He'll drone on and on and on about how great it is.....
I won't let him Breen me, Jackson.
I always liked the Marvel Tales comics that had a unique cover to the ASM comic that they reprinted. I guess they stopped doing the unique covers because it cut into the profits since a complete reprint was pure profit (excluding printing costs, of course).
Yup, those bean counters usually win in the end. At least it was an affordable way to read some of the silver age classics for many years.
Well, with you being president of the Star Trek fan club, you should be pulling in enough dough to be able to afford the original ASMs now.
I've earned enough money to buy the Kenner Star Trek rocket-firing Boba Fett, James.
Great stack of books. Marvel Tales is a good way to go to get Spidey in the PC.
Thanks, Brian. Some great stories reprinted in that run.
Great pick ups! Amazing Spider-Man is my all-time favorite. Marvel Tales is also a good one for a Spidey collector. Thanks for sharing, Bill (no relation to Frank Miller) Miller. #DesertDwellersUnite
I wish I was related to Frank Miller, lascruces. I imagine that cat is loaded! #DesertDwellersUnite
Nice books Bill 👍👍👍...
Thanks, Ray. You probably need a break after hanging out with that hooligan, Roger.
There are a lot of EC fans who poo-poo on these mags but I think they are fantastic. They're full of absolutely stunning illustrations by the EC artists at their peaks and the stories are very good, although I haven't read an issue of Confessions yet. The shading and all the different perspective techniques the artists use in these magazines really charged the B&W illustrations I think. Awesome set Bill!
Yes, the illustrations are wonderful and the stories are good, too. They aren't as good as when Feldstein did most of the writing, but they're good. I just think they missed the boat on the format. Had they structured them like Warren did 15 years later, I think they may have lasted.
Those Sea Monsters mags look cool, never seen those before. I assume that is a text and photo mag ala Famous Monsters? I highly recommend that Marvel Preview Merlin issue as it has stunning John Buscema art inked by Tom Palmer. Great pick-ups all around.....except for those Disney themed, off title homage, Spidey comics. I just don't understand the concept there. But I'm old...
I'm old too, LeadPaint, so I get it. Yes, the Sea Monsters mags are sensationalized magazines by Myron Fass, who published Eerie Pubs mags. I'm looking forward to reading the Merlin issue. John Buscema is one of my favorites.
Do you drive the ComicMagMusingsMobile yourself? Or do you have a driver? Thanks for sharing, Bill. #DesertDwellersUnite
I'm just a lowly peon, lascruces. Alas, I have to cart my own rear-endsky around town.
Saved the best for last? Call it something else, but you are a Trekkie
Are Trekkie's what they call fans of the Buck Rogers tv show, James?
Nice set of books. I had no idea that was a Norem cover on the Merlin Marvel Preview. I'll be on the hunt for that. ••• Interesting enough, I started unboxing a shipment from MyComicShop at the beginning of this video. The difference is, I unboxed the 12 "rar" comics and 1 magazine, rebagged and boarded them, cataloged them into my database, and read 3 of the comics before you showed your first one. Just saying.
ha! And you did your taxes, too?
@@ComicMagMusings Taxes?
Good point. I sensed you were a lifelong tax evader right away, sir.
Didnt you run a 5 mile marathon during this video, also?
@@jamesgallegos2803 Yes, but I didn't want to brag.
Bill the Arizona Pirate? Great books and comic magazines! Thanks for sharing, Bill. #DesertDwellersUnite
I'm a pirate without a boat and a body of water, lascruces. #DesertDwellersUnite
An interesting and eclectic mix of books mate, lots of which I have not seen before much. Is this one you recorded a while ago? I think I saw buff Merlin on slingers maybe
He may have made an appearance, greyman. I can't recall. His magical powers may have wiped the memory from my mind.
Nice pickups bill!
Thanks, Dave. I appreciate it!
Heavy illustrated story seems to fit right. And good way to view issues that didn't make it to print. Thanks for sharing, Bill! Happy Halloween! #DesertDwellersUnite
Thanks, lascruces. Happy Halloween, sir! #DesertDwellersUnite
Great slab choices. Her blouse folds at the elbow crease are realistic for a ruffled bow blouse. Somewhere in the inking perhaps too shadowed. It would be interesting to see what she's wearing inside the pages, if there is correlation with the cover or not. #4 is the most unique cover of that 4-issue series without a doubt. Too bad Avon didn't stick it out and go longer with many of their titles. This was their methodology more often than not, the quick little runs and one-shots. If you ever find a copy of Gun Molls Magazine from the 30's it would be like a needle in a haystack.
Thanks, QNF. I'll keep on the lookout. I love the concept of the title and I've read all of the stories online at Digital Comic Museum. Most of them were really good reads.
👏 Love it!
Criminally underrated show.
Very cool slipcase. ••• I've been thinking of starting up a comic book along the lines of Saddle Justice with a character that looks a lot like you. The title will be "Saddle Tramp".
Ha! I'd buy a copy of it, Jackson.
Oh boy...Godzilla, Gangsters, and Grumpy TH-cam host
The famous Triple G, James!
I liked Orca. Of course it was MANY years ago that I saw the movie. Great pre-code crime and Godzilla slabs. And you rockin' rims? I was able to grab the rim but never able to dunk. Thanks for sharing, Bill! #DesertDwellersUnite
ha! I may have exaggerated a bit on my former basketball prowess, lascruces. Let's keep that between us. #DesertDwellersUnite
Lol... Now you know y I have a magnifying glass with me all the time...🤣🤣.. Awesome books buddy 👍👍👍👍
Thanks, Ray. I'm lucky to have them.
Beautiful art in all those volumes no matter what
Indeed. They had quite a stable of artists.
Another beautiful set. I’ve never had this one. I think this one came out right after I left the Army and was going to college, thereby no money…. I think the print run on this late set is minuscule and you don’t see it very often. ❤
Thanks LeadPaint and thank you for your service, sir.
Thank you for the shout out Bill! As I may I mentioned in a previous comment for another of those great EC slipcase sets videos you have shared with us, this is the only set of that collection that I am lucky enough to own. As you said in this video, those sets are well known for their quality and they can be quite expensive in the secundary market. I was really patient (for many years) until I got a good deal on this set on Ebay. If I was going to own only one set of the whole collection, it was going to be this one. First, obviously, because they are westerns. Second, unlike the New Trend series, these stories have not really been collected in reprints (only one volume with the first half of the Gunfighters series by Dark Horse). Third, this might not be one of the celebrated New Trend series, but they still carry nice art by some of the same great artists such as Graham Ingels, Johnny Craig, and Al Feldstein. Maybe these last two arguments can help you convince the fabulous Mrs Musings to let you keep this one? Good Luck CMM!
ha! I need all the luck I can get, sly. Great information, as always, sir!
Sweet slippy ECs!!
Thanks, 64! I appreciate you.
Great looking Gun Fighter and Saddle Justice slip case set! I'm sure you will find a good home for the set and make someone very happy. Thanks for sharing, Bill! #DesertDwellersUnite
Thanks for watching, lascruces! #DesertDwellersUnite
Ooooh! I know @BUBSWORLD181 is eagerly waiting for this episode! Thanks for sharing, Bill. #DesertDwellersUnite
Nice books Bill!
Thanks, LeadPaint. I appreciate it!
Oh boy, it was only a SEMI-unboxing! ••• So, you've gone beyond issue 20 in slabs for both of those series? I thought originally you were only collecting 1-20 in slabs. ••• Johnson Smith Company got a few of my shekels back in the 70s. I don't recall what I got. I need to check out one of those ads to jog my memory. Make a video where you read the whole ad. 😉
Do you know how long that video would be? Aren't we put through enough just watching his channel?
I can't argue with that, James.
On the advice of my security team - Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe, I will not be following your suggestion, Jackson.
Just a heads up, if you read the title of your video before you unboxed your goodies, you would know what you are about to unbox. Guess Mrs Musings hit you with the frying pan before you filmed this
Ha! Well-done, James.
I'd pay money to see her do that, James!
@@TheJacksonRoykirk He will send you the video for the low price of $49.99
@@TheJacksonRoykirk I think that's why CMM does so many hiking videos, the pan is too big to fit in her backpack
As far as I'm concerned, Aces High and Piracy are two of the most gorgeous titles ever in the art department. A regular murderers row of some of the greatest adventure artists of the 50's. The stories can get repetitive but the art is absolutely spellbinding. Piracy #7 with the deep sea diver, treasure chest and shark is on my list of top ten comic book covers of all time. Psychoanalysis I think came about for a couple reasons, one, psychoanalysis was a popular topic in the 50's and they were just jumping on the trend. The second reason is that they had Jack Kamen, a great talent, and he must have been interested in it because he drew every story and cover for the series, pencils and inks! I think Extra was a similar vehicle for Johnny Craig as he did most of the heavy lifting on that title. Gaines had a stable of great artists that were perfect in certain types of genres and was seeing if anything would stick at that point. Beautiful set of books Bill!
Thanks, LeadPaint. Gaines later said that he felt the New Direction titles wouldn't take yet he wanted to help facilitate a gentle landing for the artists, so he tried to give them some work until they could land another gig. This may have been true, or it could have Gaines misremembering or putting a different spin on things. I recall that the interview was decades later.
The microplastics-packed squirt water’s slightly less toxic than the cigarette!
ha! Right in the eye, 64!
