Picking up the Pink Pig from Wrap Stars in Atlanta
This car is owned by my friend Gunner Mench who lives in Hawaii. He had it wrapped by Wrap Stars in Kennesaw, GA, and will be picking it up from my house in time for 944 Fest in September.

It is very common on the Porsche 944 Turbo for one of the two water housing bolts to break off in the block. If you’re lucky it will leave just enough of a stub to weld on a nut in order to remove the bolt.

Prepping for the machine shop. Head will get decked, new valve springs, and new valve seals. Cylinders look perfect!

Unfortunately the company is no longer in business. Honestly there really isn’t a need for the tool as you can just twist the timing belt 90° with your fingers to set the tension.
@@richardhummel2160 Thanks for the quick reply, I've been doing search after search for ArnnWorx Specialty Tools with no sucess. I'm familiar with the 90-degree twist as I did a lot of VW Rabbit (Golf) and other cars timing belts in the 70s and 80s and that was the factory method of adjusting the tension, no tools required or even available from what I remember. Do you know anything about the Schwaben tool from Pelican Parts or the similar one's available on Amazon? They have a couple that look just like the Schwaben but about half the cost. I see in my YT suggested video list there is a picture of the one I'm talking about, video posted by spidiq8

I think you got it, Rich. For everyone else, the instructions that come with this thing are a mix of the old instructions and new and have been horribly edited and make it more confusing that it needs to be. But once you understand how to set it up (for each belt) it makes perfect sense. Also each calibration bar have different base calibration values on them so use the numbers, written or printed, on your particular calibration bar. The first value is the timing belt base value, the second is the balance belt. The hardest part will be actually getting the tool into the correct position on the belt to measure its tension, especially with the engine in the car. You need to measure it at the longest run on the right side of the timing belt (between cam gear and crank gear) and across the top run on the balance belt. You may need to remove the idler pulley that rides on the back of the timing belt to get the tool in place. The balance belt isn't so crowded so it's not that difficult.
