Take a drive to see Chads for oranges. Your Jujubes are awesome!
This is great! I would also like to grow as much fruit as I can in a 1/4 acre. And this is giving me so many ideas. Please make another video to update us on how its doing when they're bearing fruit. Question: Do you grow on a whole quarter acre, or does your house take up part of the quarter acre?
@lisalarson902 My house takes up part of it. I am glad you got some ideas!
Great info!
@@utgardengirl Thank you!
I didn't know that Johnny Jump Ups bloomed so long! Gotta get some seed. After seeing your Hardy Gladiola I need a patch in my gardens somewhere.
@scottdilatush357 I think it's been warm enough the last couple of winters that the Johnny Jump Ups never died all the way back. I have really enjoyed them!
Beautiful ❤

I enjoyed them as well so I bought more for my raised beds tied to my rain tanks

Always enjoy your videos, M’Li! You have such beautiful & inspiring gardens. I’m curious what your favorite plants were this year & what your favorite month in the garden is?
@BrandywineGarden Thank you so much! I really appreciate that you watched my videos and your kind words! The favorite month is easy. I thought it would be spring, but it ended up being October and November. The colors are so vibrant, the lighting so beautiful, and it's a time to fill up and hold on to the beauty of my landscape in preparation for the winter ahead. It helps remind me that spring is always just around the corner. Closing a favorite plant is hard. This year, I loved the sedums. There are so many colors and textures, and they evolve and change throughout the year. I also have always loved Catmint for its long season of color, easy care, bee attracting qualities, and vibrant blues. I also love Sundancer Daisies for the same reasons. Glow Girl Spirea is one I put in all my designs and will always have in my garden. It gives season long interest and is the easiest care shrub I know of. Do you have any favorites in your yard?
@ I see why you love autumn. The warm hues of the fall foliage are really striking against the icey blue spruce in your yard. You have wonderful specimens. As for my favorite plant of the year - I fell in love with growing hyacinths in containers. That way you can move the pot onto a table or ledge so you can easily enjoy their wonderful perfume. Plus you can force them indoors and have blooms in February.
@@BrandywineGarden Hyacinths do have an amazing fragrance. I love the idea of growing them in pots and moving them indoors.
Ah, it is good seeing you again!
@UtahSustainGardening I would love to see more of your videos too!
Thank you for the awesome video. I am Korean, and we love jujubes a lot. We use them for food or to make drinks. My favorite way to use jujubes is to make hot drinks. First, wash them really well and dehydrate them, including the seeds. Then, once they are all dehydrated, boil some of them with water and ginger. Once they are all boiled, pour some into the cup and add honey to add a sweeter taste. It is my home remedy for cold medicine.
@sumixon598 That sounds delicious! I will try that. Thanks for sharing!
Seeing that the names of the plants makes a big difference to me. Thanks so much.😊
❤❤❤
Thanks for your informative video. We are in Cape Town, South Africa and have similar varieties that grow very well here. We call them Cape Gooseberries. They make an excellent jam/sugar preserve 😊
I really like his watering table! Great idea!! I think I'm going to copy that in my little greenhouse to keep the floor dry.
There are so many things to love about this video. You're stained fingers from compost show that you do what a gardener is supposed to. You get down and dirty, and you also know how to clean. The second thing is that you appreciate the beauty of every season… Even frost. A lot of people are just uncomfortable, but you take time to show how you appreciate things. Another great view!
in the prairies we call them Saskatoon's!
Thank you for your video. I have tried a few methods for cooking medlars. My go-to is to just wash them, and then boil with just enough water or sweet red wine to cover them. Then I smash them through a colander with a potato smasher. The skins and seeds stay on one side and the pulp goes through the other. I also went over 225F the first time I made jelly--resulting in some interesting medlar gummy bear product.
What an excellent video. Great information.
@@petronecosmetics9230 Thank you!
I live over in Tooele county from you guys and we’re going to get a couple this spring. We are looking at the NC1 Thompson and the Atwood. Do you think it’s safe to just get the two or should we get a third as a back up?
@serrincroft7771 I will always advocate for more Paw Paws, just because I love them 😄!
I had a problem with fungus gnats on fig tree that I have inside and recently read that you can use 1 part Hydrogen Peroxide to 4 parts water and spray the surface of the soil to kill the larva and eggs. That seems to have worked and I gave it a second spray and hopefully I broke the life cycle of the gnats.
@@NewEnglandgardening I hope that works!
We make saffron rolls aka st Lucia buns
@@katieshelton8117 That sounds delicious!
Interesting. Great is grows well in your garden.
I just bought the book by Anne Ralf and I'm so inspired I'm planting 12 trees in my small yard : apples, pears, a persimmon a plum, a medlar kiwis and paw paws. I'm wondering though how much width branch space do 4 apple trees in a hole need?
@@silverhermes I am really excited for you! You are going to have some amazing fruit! I am not sure I completely understand your question, but I plant my trees 18" apart when planting them in the same hole. I then angle them outwards and prune the trees as it they are one tree with one canopy. The goal is to prune them so they are open enough to let light through the entire canopy. The size is determined by your needs and space requirements.
Great job. Try to get a four-wheel wagon that works just like the wheel barrow but you don't lift the weight.

quite stunning, a must have
The process of viability to determine if the fruit is ripe is very helpful : )
Your place is looking better all the time! Are you the only one doing the maintenance? The different varieties of frost accentuate the textures and colors very nicely.
@@scottdilatush357 Thank you, it's good to hear from you! I am the only one doing the maintenance.
Rubus pentalobus. The lack of fruit is common and is thought to be because of inconspicuous flowers that often don't open wide enough to attract or admit pollinators. The fruit DO taste uniquely delicious 😊
@@olsim1730 Thank you for your comments. Maybe someday mine will fruit!
I've been passing this by in the supermarket and wondering about it, it always just seemed like a mildly savoury spice... we just got some from a farmers market and my first impression was licorice!
They’re poisonous as well. Luckily nothing will normally eat it.
I don’t have enough greens after a certain time other than food waste so it seems a slow go in the late fall.
add coffee grounds
Cold composting just like you but in New Jersey. Summer is hot and humid. Winter cold and damp. I’m hit or miss with my building of composting in garbage cans 25 + I’m amazed at how quickly it decomposes in just 3 months. Enjoyed seeing your clear blue skies,, sunny day with hills in the background. Tks.
@@donthompson4912 Thank you for watching my video and commenting!
Ive recently got some chooks. My 0.7sqm bin has been at 65°C for a week and a half. I've never seen anything like it in the 10 years Ive had the bin, its supposed to be a cold conpost bin 😂. I LOVE my chickens ❤❤❤
@@Power_Prawnstar Chicken are superchargers when it comes to compost!
Thank you for all this great information! Inspiring for one who has not set up a composting system but want to. Small area and not sure where to put it....
This was very good. Have you ever just made a pile of compost without the pallet structure? What are the benefits of using the wooden enclosure?
@GreenGranny I composted with just piles on the ground in Southern California for 15 years, and it worked really well. I started using bins when I moved to Utah because I used to have dogs that would get into it. It was easier to train them to stay out of a bin rather than just piles on the ground. The other advantage is that you can build taller piles if you use a structure to contain it. That also helps the decomposition process to speed up.
@gardenwiseadventures thanks, that's helpful.
One of my favorite videos yet! Understanding mulch has been a head scratcher for me, and you put it in words that make a lot of sense.
@paigeladd2485 I am so glad you watched my video, and it helped!
