Lost in Culture
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 เม.ย. 2015
Hey! I am Ryan and I make videos of me exploring different cultures whilst uncomfortably over-indulging myself with food. While I am on my travels, I am using as a time for self-exploration and asking the big questions about the world! Join me on this journey of embracing culture and self-improvement.
Osaka Life: Apartment Tour, Sumiyoshi Shrine & Local Ramen
Join me on a day in my life living in Osaka, Suminoe! In this video, I’ll show you around my neighbourhood and dive into some of my favorite local spots. Starting with an apartment tour, we’ll take a look inside my home in Suminoe. After that, I’ll take you to the serene Sumiyoshi Taisha, one of Japan’s most historic shrines, where you can feel the deep culture and beauty of Osaka.
We’ll then jump into a boxing lesson at a local gym 🥊 - it’s a perfect way to get a feel for community life and stay active. Next, we’ll relax with a picnic in Suminoe Park 🌳, a local gem surrounded by nature, and head over to the MAG Sports Center for some fun at the batting cages ⚾. To end the day, I’ll treat you to a delicious bowl of tonkotsu ramen at a neighbourhood spot - the perfect way to cap off a day in Osaka!

thank you for sharing your experience....I'm on day 8 of sobriety, after 10+ years of daily heavy drinking....I'm a bit scared of what lies ahead of me, but on the other hand, I have to do it. You cannot imagine how important your message is! Best regards from Austria
It is scary, its stepping into the unknown and doing something that will shift your lifestyle completely. Good things come out of being uncomfortable rather than staying in comfort! Thank you for your comment and be sure to comment if you need someone to talk to!

I first tried cutting out alcohol in 2015 and it was hell 😂, everyone berated me for not drinking, friends, family, could not get any alternatives in bars except high sugar drinks. It was like being completely outcast as you said. I've had ups and downs but regularly manage to stay off it for 6-9 months of the year. The 3 months I'm on though is not worth it afterwards. Have your health and enjoy, stay away from toxic people and find your interest in something else like self improvement. When I quit for a long period my body felt great, skin clear, face less bloated, more clarity.
I know exactly what you mean! It's been a year and a half for me and I still feel a bit outcasted. However, my body feels great and I am so much healthier for it. Keep at it mate you have got this! You are doing great!
I just found your channel and your videos are amazing!

Nice. Great sharing. More foreigners should visit China so that lies and disinformation spread by US and West mainstream media will be dispelled.
Thank you…..
Seemed impossible, but it’s been over 2 years and I don’t crave a drop of alcohol, the key difference was that I didn’t suffer withdrawal, not even within the first 30 days, just happened after go’ogling Steffon Barkloads Quit Drinking Forever and genuinely quitting because I was a mess.
I was also a mess! Feels good to put it all behind now! Well done for doing it and keeping it up for two years!
Well done mate. Incredible maturity for a 27 year old to make such a bold change that can only be for the better of yourself and everyone around you. It takes bravery and it is the biggest act of self love you can carry out in your life. I am 41 and have struggled with alcohol for the same reasons as you. I always over did it. It was always the focus of my nights out. I struggled with social anxiety. I feared not being accepted without alcohol. For the last 6 years I have taken 3 month breaks here and there and attempted to kick the habit completely but failed. 16 days ago after another regretful night I finally decided the end had come. For the first time I am telling people I dont drink, instead of saying I'm taking a break. It takes guts and I struggle with the fomo and fear of rejection at times, but I know this decision is the key to living the best version of this very short life we have.
@@seansayer7684 it’s not easy and you are doing great for tackling the problem too. Unfortunately, not being accepted kind of comes with it but you really do learn to love it! You know the people around you are genuine. I think saying “I don’t drink” is absolutely huge. You literally have to become the person who you choose to be, that starts with the labels for yourself. I wish you the best of luck and if you need to message I am also here too! Don’t think you have to do it alone!
@@seansayer7684 thank you for your kind words too 😊
Thanks for this.
@@RiaG no problem! Are u doing ok?
Yes, thank you for asking. Been dealing with this goal for a while and have failed and tried again. Watching videos like these help me not want to go back to my old life where drinking every weekend was a given.
@@RiaG I was dealing with it for ages too. Failing is normal it’s part of the process. Each failure is a step closer! Don’t be too hard on yourself, be strict but give yourself love in the process. Brush it off and go again! You are doing great because you’ve identified the problem and at least trying. Keep going! If you need to message just give us a shout!
Thank you that’s so kind and i do finally realize that to achieve any goal you have to be okay with those L’s lol cuz they lead you to your win. It’s so interesting with drinking because i always thought it’s okay if it’s just the weekends and this last year it was wild how many times it wasn’t fun and it was just me blacking out making terrible decisions. Anyway thank you for hearing me and again thanks for the video. 💙
@@RiaG For me the blacking out was the biggest problem. It's so scary to lose control of yourself and not know what happened. Then you gotta deal with the awful anxiety for the coming days only to make the same mistake again. I told myself so many times "only a little bit" or "I can control it". I simply could not do what the rest of the world is doing, my body reacted differently. It was a blessing in disguise tbh. It's really isolating to quit that's what stops most of us but you find a bit more of yourself by the end of it :)
Ohhhh looks amazing

@@helenlkimber5820 thank you!
Nice video! Congrats on your journey! I never thought about quitting alcohol for good. I think I have a decent relationship with it. Like you said, going to the gym, eating well, and doing things you enjoy can truly improve your life and also keep you away from alcohol. I think I have a good balance of all those things, but still enjoy a drink once in a while, especially during social events that are catered around alcohol. I’m definitely done with the days of heavily drinking, blacking out and feel like crap for a week. Keep it up!
@@HappyHourWithMatt yeah I think if you can do it in moderation all power to ya! Like you said balance is essential. I think for some of us, it has way more power over us than the average person and it becomes a hindrance! Building up healthy habits in general is the way to go to get more out of ourselves😊
Perfectly said mate 🙌🙌🙌🙌 thank you!!!!!
Life is genuinely so much better without alcohol - to anyone considering stopping, please don’t think it’s a just a cliché or a cope, there’s so much life to live and it’s amazing without booze. Ryan - you’re awesome 👊🏻
