We need to look deeper, this is parody, irony, satire... what you will. Imagined inbreeding of an island or apparently isolated community can perpetuate a myth. Expressed through comedic celebrities popular culture can predudicely engender a faux stereotype & false narrative. The 80's Reagan sketch by Rowan Atkinson & Gryf Reece Jones, lured many into believing the president was less than he was. It was, however, hilariously funny which made it all the more powerful.

When I ran pubs we used to instruct staff who were uninterested in football to join any football related conversation with 'they need a big man up front and more creativity in midfield'. It was literally a 'light the blue touch-paper' comment and guaranteed to cement their place in the football commenting community.
