Tullahoma Sunrise Rotary Disc Golf Course 3/10/2024
I had a 100' +/- throw in and my friend had a 50' +/- putt on hole 9 at Sunrise Rotary Disc Golf Course. I left my dashcam on while we were playing, just in case something cool happened and I just barely missed my throw in, if you don't watch real closely on the left side of the screen at the very beginning of the video, you might miss it too (I added a loop of it slowed down, hopefully you can see it.)

UPDATE 2: please watch my latest video - th-cam.com/video/xepYcGlHxYg/w-d-xo.html UPDATE: I'm switching my knuckles out for E10's, may eventually try some SCX10 knuckles. The driver's side knuckle rubs a little more than I wanted and I wanted metal ones, the RS10 did not have any metal options. I've taken parts from a Redcat Rockslide RS10's steering and put them on my Redcat Gen7, the differen...
Thank you for making this helpful video. It did work but I was left with a stripped set screw in the shaft from the transfer case. What would you suggest?
I put a brushless motor in mine 😐 now it eats any driveshafts i get, in like. One battery of time 🤣 So i will definitely get the driveshafts from Axial. See how they do
My problem is keeping them from coming loose on the pin
Find purple thread locker, it will hold the screw but not as tightly as blue thread locker and should solve your problem without making them too difficult to remove later.
Hey ive got a question. Do you have the part number for the rock slide aluminum steering knuckles. Thanks Mike
Sorry, not that I can think of.
@@jackofalltradesmasterofnon7860 ok ty
Hey ive got a question. Do you have the part number for the rock slide aluminum steering knuckles. Thanks Mike
I want to turn mine into 4 wheel steering what's your take on that
I have a gen 7 that has steering as good as your almost hitting the shocks also my wheels aren't towed out at all just did some simple mods
How do you cut them and shorten them
It's been a while, but I think I used a Dremmel and/or sand paper to slowly file them down. You could also order shorter rod ends.
hey bud watched probally all vid on making chloroplast track yours hands down was the easiest to grasp concept on how to cut and fold walls, but HELLO the biggest revelation in your how to video is..... CONNECTING TWO PIECES OF TRACK! to me that was my dilemma! you non cholontly said “yeah i’ll prob use the post from these stolen signs ,cmon man you know u took them from your neihborhood u don’t know any politiciians dang that’s what i would do. anywho that’s a story for another time, yeah connecting w post! thumbnail should’ve said how to connect chloroplast track together. anyhow that’s something you can always edit, and thank you for doing the public good by removing those hideous signs promoting those sulfur smelling crooked compromised people i thank you, and on that note i will make an exit from this reply, rant , story, whatever this thank you comment is,,,,, i’m not even patronizing either my friend i know when reading ones word instead of having someone in front of you can be tricky BUT that is def conversation for another time, maybe if you release anymore amazing how to and non chlontly leaving the most important piece of information and barely gave it it’s due credit and. how to get rid of signs video. boy i’m winded ummm wait what am i thanking you for?!?! ....anyway but one thing left me perplexed ,,what is that chloroplast- thingy you are talking about?
I really did get the sign posts legitimately. I had to try hard not to show who's name was on it as they are related to me, they did not get the office they ran for. Your comment/rant/story was a good read, no worries here. As for the last part "what is that chloroplast- thingy you are talking about?", I'm not sure what you are talking about there. I'd be happy to elaborate, if you can tell me where in the video you are referencing that from.
Will they work on a stock gen 7 pro?
Yes, they should. There is an updated part number to look for though. 18160
@@jackofalltradesmasterofnon7860 thank you I'm also looking into buying a tool kit do you have any suggestions that won't break the bank ?
@@adamsukennikoff6668 MIP make great, strong tools. You don't need them for everything, some cheap tool sets work great for most things, but the tiny driveshaft grub screws (1.5 mm, I think) you really will thank yourself for spending a little extra on an MIP driver for those.
Its true! I just got one and it steers all the way to the shocks, and the main steering arm has a slight curve.
Can you run them with the treal outer portal cover weights???
I'm not sure, but if you look them up on FB and send them a message, they usually reply pretty quickly.
Been watching all kinds of videos on upgrading the steering waiting for mine to come in the mail I noticed since the years have gone by they fixed all the steering issues that I've noticed 🤙
Please make a curve! I'm having trouble putting 1 together
I think the only way you'd be able to makes turns is by making angels not exactly round curves
Do you think it would fit the same on the gen 7 sport?
Yes, the dimensions of the trucks are the same, just different parts here and there. These also will fit on the Gen 8, though you'd still need a short one from the transmission to the transfer case.
Bye Bye Servo time to upgrade
Thanks for your input, but actually that servo lasted quite a while after this video (if not still in it now.)
cool idea bro ... awesome
I have a sheet of 4x8 coroplast, but I'm waiting on some turns to be printed, not sure if/when I'll get those, but if I do, I'm building some track! The whole sheet of CP was only $15 or $20, I can't remember.
HEY MAN,I SEE YOU ADDED 4 AXLE COUNTER WEIGHTS ALL AROUND YOUR GEN 8??? HOW DID IT HANDLE AND RUN?? I WANT SOME WEIGHT DOWN LOW,BUT DONT WANNA REPLACE THE WHOLE PORTAL SYSTEM WITH TREAL PIECES...IM MORE OF A TRAIL/SCALE RUNNER ANYWAY..I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS AND YOUR THE ONLY ONE ON TH-cam THAT I SEE INSTALLED ALL FOUR ALL AROUND,ANY FEEDBACK GREATLY APPRECIATED THANKS!
just a little tip to a fellow RC'er IF your going to shorten up a 4 link setup do all four of them not just two it will throwoff the drivetrain geometry and endup destroying parts down the road..... Cheers
What did you do to lift the body?
I just moved the shocks to lower mounts on the frame/shock towers. I think some of my other videos show more details what I did.
Have you tried connecting coroplast to both or either standard Hot Wheels track (2 lane pref.) or Sizzler Fat Track. I'd like to see how you would create a smooth transition, flutes, glue, etc. looking for good ideas.
I have not tried that, I do not have access to normal track.
@@jackofalltradesmasterofnon7860 How do you connect coroplast ends? I saw TH-cam using the flutes with a thin dowel like the Double H steel sign posts realtors use. There's probably another good option. I think I'll get those Mag Track connectors from ThingiVerse, they're designed for coroplast. cost is one issue, delivery the other as 3D printing can take time and there may be a back log to your order. JLH Kraft is one printer. Thanks for your time in replying... i'll check out your other vids.
Roland Parker I'm currently looking for the same information. Any luck?
@@bigsamsports Yes, I used the sign post/stand that was with the sign to make connectors. I've purchased a 4x8 sheet of coroplast, so now, if I can ever get my turns printed, I just have to figure out that connection.
@@bigsamsports I thought about using 4mm bamboo skewers to join the coroplast. They sell them on Amazon, 100 10" skewers for $7. You could cut them in half to get 200 connectors. If you use 4 pieces on each seam (2 on the base and 1 on each side) you can make a lot of straight track. Turns have always been the challenge for me so I haven't built a track from coroplast yet. I've been using the Adventure Force Crash Racers track which connects very easily to standard orange track.
What if the screw is already stripped?
I've had to drill them out before, but I know I've read some other techniques that I've not tried or wasn't successful with.
I would also suggest a high quality tool for these grub screws for the next time, something like MIP drivers.
I should drill right threw the the top right?
Also thank you for the great info
As small as a bit as you can find and keep it as straight as possible.
I mean, you dont want your axles completly maxed out on how much they can flex. But changing the links like we suggest will do no harm to your bearings or axles.
People are suggesting moving those inner links up because if you dont you lose flex when because your battery tray binds on your front shaft, And it wears the plastic shaft down. I had to replace my shaft and then i set up my links like they are displayed in the manual handbook you get, which is the way every one suggests, and i have no binding anywhere and it does not affect your axles, they dont have to be parrellel.
Nice, needed to record longer. Lol. Very cool. 👍👍
Kind of a test video, I always forget to video our trips, but needed to upload one.
Looks fun!! 😁👍🏻
Looks fun!! 😁👍🏻
i love mine but have had alot of drivetrain issues with driveshafts snapping or wearing out the aluminum ones in a couple weeks and im really glad you posted this
No problem. I'm still running those without any problems, great driveshafts, well worth the extra $$$ to not have to keep swapping them out. My only problem, I used blue locktite, couldn't move them to my Gen 8. I suggest now to use purple thread locker, much easier to remove later but still holds.
Yeah... Definitely a nice upgrade. 👍🏻😎

Can you please translate that to English?
I believe they have changed the P/N from 1116 to 18160 as I was unable to locate that P/N. I'm about to find out if they will work on a gen7 with portal axle upgrades. Great video!
Yes, that sounds right. They are the same size and what not, they should work just fine, they just made the design where it fits more trucks.
Great video. Could you please elaborate a little more on how you obtained the 12.3 wheelbase. Did you cut the rod or rod ends on the front? Sorry...a newborn here. Thx
Did you shim them tight?
I did not, nor have I had any problem with them. That being said, that truck now has portal axles on it.
just ran the 1.5 threw my finger trying to get the damn screw out of the drive shaft
Great tip. Liked and subd 👍
I just ground the nubs off and changed the ends on steering linkage to clear pumpkin around 5 dollars
It was just one of many suggestions, it's what I had access to and didn't want to alter the axles. Now, I'd just tell someone to spend the few dollars and get the high steer kit, which I think newer models already have any way
Is that a metel drive shaft,I'm trying to get the grub screw out of a gen7 pro cant budge them?
If it's the stock Gen7 Pro driveshaft, then it's the same as what's in my video, just a different axle (it's the Redcat Gen8 portal axle.)
You're going to have to heat them up, I've heard people having luck with lighters and even soldering irons, but I did not, so I did this torch. As you see in the video, it doesn't take much, just angle it away from the plastic parts as much as possible. The Gen7 Pro has metal u joints on the driveshafts, so you should be fine to heat them up.
When you go to put them back together, I suggest getting purple thread locker, like this (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HBGHFY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) it is a low strength hold, where blue is medium, and red is permanent.
Mine were rusted and i sprayed WD40 in them for 5mins settle wipe it off then I head up the tip of the allen tip.
Dude!! Holy shit!! This is perfect! I do this post apocalyptic thing, and I'm gonna build a body for mine to match....now I have the perfect bag to use, and things to put in it eventually!!!
How does the right truck do with the links flipped like that ?
I don't remember seeing any difference, but I've since upgraded to the portal axles, so I'm not 100% sure.
I have a question about the shocks did you use the shocks and spring assembly or just the springs?
The shock is the stock Gen 7 and the springs are from a Rockslide RS10. When I upgraded to the beta portal axles, I had to go back to the stock springs, but due to the shock angles, it flexes about the same as with the softer springs.
Well now my next question how do you feel about the portal axles? I’ve had my pro about a month now and was considering purchasing the portals but I haven’t seen any good reviews on them yet?
If you have any difficult terrain you're trailing on, they will make the truck go places it wouldn't before. Between portal axles and Hyrax tires, mine is pretty versatile.
I bought a new factory curved steering bar complete with ends and servo bar but after I got it installed both front wheels now point outward \ / like the bar is too long? Do you need to replace other part as well?
Did you get the high steer knuckles? If not, that link is too long. If so, there's an adjustment screw on one end of the bar.
@@jackofalltradesmasterofnon7860 No dont have the high steer knuckles
That's the problem. That is supposed to go with high steer knuckles. The kit probably wouldn't have been much more expensive than just the link.
Does the axial 10 steering knuckles fit Everest 10
IDK. The E10 fit on the Gen7, so I'd think they would work the other way around. As SCX10 knuckles, I know with modifications they would fit on the Gen7, so I'd think they would fit on the E10. I hear the Gen7 high steer kit will fit on the E10.
Thanks for reply enjoy your video
Just bought a Everest Gen7 Pro and there was no steering mod needed because they now come stock with the high steering arm and the front steering bar is now curved around the pumpkin. My Gen7 does 3' diameter circles at full power stock out of the box! Looks like Redcat is listening to all the comments they are getting. Your videos are one of the reasons I decided to buy my Gen7, keep up the good work!
Jeff Gould What? Man that pisses me off! I just ordered one off amazon last week and have been working on it because this issue. Had to dremel off the nub on steering knuckle and bend the linkage to get more clearance on the pumpkin. I must have got the old version. My box was beat to hell when I received it, they didn’t even take the time to package it separately in another box. Really bad experience from the amazon seller.
just picked up the latest version and they've corrected the steering issue with stock high steer knuckles
Some great info there great job👍
Please do NOT try this at home on purpose! We created a "blast resistant barrier" for our camera (I felt very Myth Buster-ry!)
So great idea. Did you have the red cat parts number ?? For hubs and rod. THANK😀
I have a newer update video, should be the pinned one when you go to my page with my newest mods and parts. I would highly suggest if you're going to spend the money, just get the high steer kit for the Gen7. th-cam.com/video/xepYcGlHxYg/w-d-xo.html
I already installed the aluminum parts gen7 update. But I think it does not turn as much as your first video.
I think they do or maybe even more. I have to limit the steering on the controller so I don't eat into the shocks with my tires. That being said, the Hyrax tires are probably wider, but my daughter's truck had to be dialed back as well. Here is a link to the Redcat E10 knuckles, they seem to be out of stock at Redcat, but maybe you can find a local or online dealer with them: www.redcatracing.com/180002. As for the steering links, I'd see what you need, I used RS10 links, because that's what I had, but the tires were a bit toed out, so you might get away with the stock arm (or the one with the high steer kit) with a couple shims.
This is also a demonstration of our slow fuse and fast fuse.
