What surprised me about this book and story is how intense and action-packed it got during the climax. This sort of suspenseful writing was kind of unusual in an Lovecraft story.

Besides AKIRA and Ghost in the Shell I never read manga before I started collecting Vinland Saga Deluxe recently and boy oh boy is my wallet in for a wild ride, I have so many manga on my list and some already on the shelves, biggest problem is going to be space.

DoroheDoro is probably my all time favorite manga, been wanting to start up Dai Dark!

LOVE Dai Dark! I've gotta pick up the 7th volume as well. Still haven't read Dorohedoro, but Dai Dark is such a wild, fun ride. I want to get Dark Spaces: Dungeon as well. I'm with you on the Sherman love and sometimes Snyder enjoyment, but their Wildfire collaboration was great.

Still waiting for my copy but I must confess I was a bit disappointed that Bablet wasn’t the artist throughout the whole book or, at least, most of it. Probably this won’t be at the same level of Shangri-La or Carbon & Silicon but still good enough.

Wish I could buy these, missed out on the kickstarter and there is a TPB but I like these abit more..

Its called stippling, stippling is the process of dotting over and over to make an image, like hatching, the more clustered the dots, the darker something is, the less dots, the lighter, doing this by hand is very time consuming, so it is likely he used a stippling gun if done traditionally, which is essentially like a tattoo gun but for paper

Thank you so much for this wonderful review. I think you capture well how the different voices (Zoe variations) help to add layers of complexity without coming across as too bookish. I think Zoe has done here something that's extremely difficult to do in prose - and demonstrates how comics can be such a unique medium of expression. If we want them to focus on comics we buy the comics to support the creators (Dan Annette is awesome) and we don’t go see the movies so that we send the message to Valiant where their good media is

Definitely worth a pickup I'll keep my eyes out for it! Alot of those bloodier scenes remind me of a gorier honey i shrunk the kids/magical school bus vibe. Never thought I'd see a spear sized pencil impale somebody lol

I love Simon Roy! I have Gruz Gribus and the follow up Miramar in the kickstarter hardcover formats but havent read them yet. Brandon Graham wrote Prophet (and did some of the art), but Roy was one of a few regular artists in the mix. His books Habitat (originally serialized in the Island anthology) and Tiger Lung are both dope. Jan's Atomic Heart is good too!

This is awful. Just get a book by Sergio Toppi, Dino Battaglia, Alberto Breccia, Gianni de Luca, Guido Buzzelli or Dave McKean. They are real artists.

I'm also collecting and reading Vinland Saga deluxe as they're published and it's the most beautiful manga ever. Every panel is just perfection and the quality of the paper and print and overall design of the book is of highest standards.
