I'm glad you enjoyed it, but it didn't quite click for me. The comparison between Jacob and Sean Phillips is unavoidable given the similarities in their styles, but I don't think Jacob's sequential storytelling is as strong and there were some clumsy moments. With this story, I just wasn't invested in the characters and also felt that some of the tangential elements (the abusive man killing himself for example) didn't add to the larger narrative and just served to muddy things for me. It was okay. I bought volume 2 with 1, so I'll give that a read, but depending on how that goes I might check out on That Texas Blood.

Dawn runner has amazing art, but it needs to be printed at like 11x17 or something. I assume it was drawn digitally with tons of detail and its all lost. The story will read way better in a collected format IMO. Whenever I would get a new issue, i would have to go back and reference previous issues.

Art is cool. Book sucks.

I have never understood getting Jacen Burrows to illustrate any Punisher or Max style stories. His artwork is so clean and polished (its good) but to me, these stories need some grit and texture.

Nice! I've heard good things about Dawnrunner and want to check it out (Ram V is a bit hit and miss for me so far though - loved Laila Starr and These Savage Shores but felt his Swamp Thing run was a whiff). I actually had my first (and last haul) of 2025 a couple days ago. Really trying to focus on my TBR Mountain (well over 200 books), so will be majorly curtailing new purchases until I make progress. That said, I did pick up some goodies in that final haul! Adventureman 1 and 2, A Guest In the House (amazing!), Head Lopper 4, Eight Billion Genies, A Land Called Tarot, Mawrth Valliis, That Texas Blood 1 and 2, and Department of Truth 3 and 4. No shortage of reading in this house for years to come.

Oh shit I'm about to spend too much money again! PS. You need to do a shelf tour because how much space do you have? I have a long hallway that I have to put shelves top to bottom but what do we do when we run completely out of space? The horror!

Superman has so many great stories that I keep discovering... Return and death of Superman are my favs. Injustice Omnibus does Superman great! Superman Triangle era/EXILE and other stories Omnibus Absolute Kingdom Come absolute. Absolute for all Season Superman But just heard were getting an Omnibus from this run, and cover art looked Incredible! and came searching on TH-cam. Art work looks really good as well.

I bought the year 1 HC collection from a local bookstore. Looking forward to reading, but vol 2 and 3 seem unavailable :( Looks like a story I would enjoy, but don't want to get 1/3 of the story and left hanging. Sad how hard it is to get back issues.

I have this one, would reccommend also, the drawings are so good. Btw there is like a part 2 of this comic, i'm looking forward buying it.

The artwork is really good in this. Maybe I should get this in digital format if it's available, it looks pretty good. I am more familiar with Lovecraft's Call Of Cthulhu, Cats Of Ulthar, Dagon, At The Mountains Of Madness... his two best works I read to me are Call Of Cthulhu and At The Mountains Of Madness, this I heard off before, Shadows Of Innsmouth, but never looked into actually reading it. I get from it it's about a investigation of a suicide in s town were everything looks strange and odd to which the reason is everyone in it is a alien type being who worship the ancient ones with many hints of crime and mystery throughout the story. It sounds overall really good I guess I will eventually look into it and buy a digital copy.

Catching up on this one! Great selection as always, I think we have very similar tastes as a lot of this is on my radar or unread stacks. You're damn right about Hayden Sherman - just keeps getting better. I never finished his earlier work Wasted Space, but the first volume was rad. A much rougher, angular apporach akin to Erik Larson almost but really cool. I may have to dig out Wild Spaces Dungeon for my next read. Was really impressed with his and Snyder's previous collaboration Wild Spaces Darkfire even though Snyder's pretty hit or miss. Great video!

Love the comics, love the content, love the breakdowns of the stories, but the painted fingernails are just so damn distracting…

I really want to get those Den books but need to dig through my to be read pile before I can let myself buy more books. Also, I need that Blacksad part 2 and fingers crossed for a collected I Dragon (I have his Fourth Power unread in the mountain).

What surprised me about this book and story is how intense and action-packed it got during the climax. This sort of suspenseful writing was kind of unusual in an Lovecraft story.

Besides AKIRA and Ghost in the Shell I never read manga before I started collecting Vinland Saga Deluxe recently and boy oh boy is my wallet in for a wild ride, I have so many manga on my list and some already on the shelves, biggest problem is going to be space.

DoroheDoro is probably my all time favorite manga, been wanting to start up Dai Dark!

LOVE Dai Dark! I've gotta pick up the 7th volume as well. Still haven't read Dorohedoro, but Dai Dark is such a wild, fun ride. I want to get Dark Spaces: Dungeon as well. I'm with you on the Sherman love and sometimes Snyder enjoyment, but their Wildfire collaboration was great.

Still waiting for my copy but I must confess I was a bit disappointed that Bablet wasn’t the artist throughout the whole book or, at least, most of it. Probably this won’t be at the same level of Shangri-La or Carbon & Silicon but still good enough.

Wish I could buy these, missed out on the kickstarter and there is a TPB but I like these abit more..
