How to record vocals using layers in Studio One 6 Artist Version.
Recently, Presonus announced that they will no longer offer Studio One Artist and Prime versions. In the near future, they will only offer Studio One Pro. However, if you decide to keep your perpetual Artist version, then this video is for you. I'll check out the Pro version at some point in time, as needed.
This episode is the fifth in a series of video tutorials about Studio One Artist version. Many of the existing tutorials are for StudioOne Pro, so this tutorial will deal only with the Artist version. The Pro version has options that are not available in the Artist version, which is one of the reasons it is essential to do a tutorial with the Artist version.
In the first video I did a tutorial about the start page, the device block size, the sample rate, and the bit depth.
In the second video I explained the Song session page.
In the third video I created a drum beat. I used the patterns to get the beat right on the grid. However, I did mention other ways on how to record and play your virtual drums.
In the fourth video, I shared how I record acoustic guitar using layers.
In this fifth video I showed how to record vocals using layers.
Hopefully, you find this video useful.

Which amplifier has THE BEST clean channel: Marshall DSL20, Engl Fireball 25 or EVH 5150iii 50 watts

In this video I compared the clean channels of the Marshall DSL20, Engle Fireball 25, and the EVH 5150 iii 50 watts amplifiers. The amps were connected to an Engle 2x12 cabinet with vintage 30 speakers, and one speaker was mic with the legendary Shure SM57 microphone. In this episode I went over explaining the basics of what is the difference between an audio interface and a mixer. As an example I used the Presonus Studio 24C audio interface, and the Yamaha MG06X mixer. Also, I touched on the hybrid units that can do both; mixers with audio interface capability. What if you want to go stereo on that cab instead of mono, you would have to change the ohms?
So EVH Amps are partnered with Peavey
Hi Joselopez6990! They started as partners back in the 80s with the original Peavy 5150 amp, but then they took their own way. Now EVH is part of Fender. Thanks for stopping by, and keep rocking!
@@volcanoac ah On a different note I used to see peavy equipment at my uncle’s house when I was a kid in the 90s
Wow, that was awesome, those were the original peavy heavy sounds. Thanks for sharing!
It's avalaible on AMD system ?
Hi atkjt3626! I don't think AMD is supported or even tested for compatibility, so I would say not available.
is this plugin worth it
Hi Rudycsatillo6369! Yes, I really like this plugin because it goes beyond regular IRs, it has multiple parameters that can be adjusted to taste very easy, so definitely recommended. Thank you for stopping by, and keep rocking!
@@volcanoac any suggestions or presets u have that you might wanna share for metal and all
Hi Rudycastillo6369! Yes, I like the Vintage 30 Stereo preset and also the Thick Koloss which has one creamback speaker and one V30. I hope that helps, cheers!
@@volcanoac thank you do u have any sugggestions for like a old school metal thing
@@volcanoac also can i create a ir with it
I think its really just some pedals are noisy and dont work well with others. you just proved iso dont work on some pedals noise - im looking into getting a iso power supply - you can also hookup a daisy chain to last 9v slot for extra 8 - I need 12 so I might just iso 7 then daisy last 5 pedals - good luck -
Hi TLS_Records! Yeah, very noise pedals will stay noise, nothing better than a good old noise gate pedal. Thanks for stopping by, and keep rocking!
I have a modded bugera 1990 with mesa tubes, its essentially a marshall clone. The cleans are nicer than my revv generator.. Lol
Hi TheRumbles13! Wow, the clean sound on that modded Bugera must be really nice. What style of music do you play with those clean tones?
@@volcanoac not much. It's a backup head now. SRV comes to mind Thanks for your hard work, subbed
Sounds good, and thank you for the sub, greatly appreciated!
#1 5150. #2 Engle, #3 Marshall.

I think he might like Metallica but where’s shitknot
nice thank you for the tutorial. With music generators, mostly I have been going through the feel of being obliged to listen too much music I don't like to get at the end few good tracks, which means overall is an experience that can't really be sustained for too long... but it's a cool modern feature for sure.
Thank you, I'm glad the video helped!
Wow, this was hugely helpful! I bought the X3 to replace a pile of separate effects (I'm an old analog guy living in a digital world, kinda like Madonna sang 😄) so this is greatly appreciated! You've gained a new subscriber!
Thank you so much Blayneb7290, I'm glad the video helped!
right on time, i was planning to buy lekato cable. It indeed sound fuller with longer sustain than the wireless
Hi Nielreyes5482, I'm glad the video helped! Cheers!
I’m keep forgetting priest was made in 1969 and pantera was made in 1981, I guess those years weren’t their peaks
Sir Can this microphone to connect sound craft 12fx audio mixer. This is better than sm7b?
Hi Ouseppachenscreations798! It can connect well to the Sound Craft 12 FX mixer, you need to activate the 48volt phantom power next to input 12 and it will work great. In terms of sound it is the same as the SM7B, however the SM7-DB has a pre-amplifier integrated to boost your signal. When i use my Yamaha mixer this preamp is essential, when i use my Neve 1073 DPX it’s not needed because the Neve has so much gain capability. As long as a mixer has phantom power it should work well. Cheers!
Dream theater was actually formed in 1985. Not 95 :3
Hi 820hurleyj! You are correct, thanks for noting the typo. That shows my shorts are not made by Ai :) keep rocking!
Yep, I nailed it. Listening on my phone with good earbuds. It might just be the way I'm listening, but I hear a marked difference between the Marshall and Celestion vst. The Celestion and the Engl not as much, but both real speakers sound quite a bit better to me than the Celestion. I suspect that tweaking could be done to get them closer. The plug-in sounds thin compared to either of the others. For what you're playing, the Engl comes out on top. It should for $1,000!
VERY NICE I LEARNED A COUPLE THINGS I DIDNT KNOW THANK YOU !!!!!!
Hi Bobtarowsky4775! I'm glad the video helped out, and thanks for stopping by! Cheers!
Metallica is the greatest band that has been, and ever will be
Can’t stop laughing at this🤣🤣🤣
Hi NexusEradication! I love Metallica as well, and the confidence on the band. They truly made a mark in music, not just metal, I'm so glad we saw them while they were making history. Cheers and keep rocking!
Not a fan of metallica to be honest their music never stuck to me, but i cant deny the sheer impact they had on the metal genre
Tool is not metal.
Hi Hashgraphium3222! Well, most people put them as progressive metal, and actually have won the Grammy 3 times for Best Metal Performance (1998, 2002, & 2020), so I would put them under the metal umbrella. I would understand if you disagree though. Thanks for the note, and keep rocking!
I knew Megadeth wasn't on here. But I said to myself "if Megadeth isn't on here, I'm gonna be pissed."

Hi I own the HP Omen Laptop with thunderbolt 4 ports, and planning to get Apollo Solo thunderbolt interface for music production. I have read a lot of problems with UAD and Windows compatibility issues over internet. Just wanted to know your experience of using UAD products with Windows device ?! Cheers. :)
Hi Eliguitarworkshop! Great question! I am using the Apollo x6 with my MSI-Prestige Evo core 13 generation i7-13700H lap top that has two Thunderbolt ports and it has worked well. I have been using it for a couple of months now mainly for recording with no issues. The converters were a major update for me compared to my budget Presonus Studio 24c interface. I should point out that I can't use the Apollo x6 with my gaming PC because it does not have Thunderbolt ports, and I could not add them to the motherboard. I use SutioOne DAW, and I had to download a Universal Audio Control software which I am not sure that is required when you use an Apple device. However, it works on the background and it has not been an issue. That software was prompted when I opened Studio One so if you (your laptop or DAW) would needed it should pop up automatically. My suggestion is that if you decide on the Apollo Solo, then get it from a vendor that gives you at least 30 days money back guarantee. If it genuinely does not works in your laptop, then send it back. Otherwise, another great option that works well for Windows is RME. I hope that helps, cheers!
I don't think any metal band played there. It was playback, just like Céline Dion and Yseult. Nobody really played there.
Hi Aaronstonebeat! I agree with you, but how about the drummer, he did slam the drums so he actually played : ) I get your point, keep rocking!
Some sound will have been actually produced, yes. But what the world heard was most likely prerecorded. They are a great band though!
70/80 is the worst celestion ever made, the vintage 30 was originally made in uk now it's made in china for the same price!
Hi Yanivnostubes! I had to get the cab with 70/80 because it was all I could afford. I just ordered a Celestion geenback to swap speakers, and I'll compare it with 70/80s. Lets see if we notice which is which. Thank you for stopping by, and keep rocking!

If you use an external recording interface do the effects get set with it. With either the built in effects or the external effects loop?
Hi AchillesWrath1! When you use the front of the house output of the WAZA TAE you have the option in the WAZA TAE app in your computer to manage the effects, even turning all those off before it hits your external recording interface. If you send the signal from WAZA TAE to a real speaker and record with real mic, then all the effects in the signal chain get recorded. I hope that answers your question, otherwise just let me know. Keep rocking!
