Pity that was one of the main guns used by the US Army in WWII during the Philippine Campaign of 1942.
I grew up playing playing in Fort Fareham Woods. Many good memories. Scared ourselves witless exploring in the dark with torches. Thank you for sharing
Drummer boy 😂
TWe played all through here as children. In the 1970's. Catching newts & tadpoles! Bought back many memories. Thankyou for posting 😊
Who is watching in 2022 😂😂 ?
Lovely building shame going to waste always wondered what it .look like inside
In 1953 the RN Safety Equipment School was located here. We were billeted over the road at HMS Siskin.
Used to live 5 minutes away from this place back in the late 90’s, orange grove in Holbrook estate
What a mess it is now
Masya Allah Very Good Building This Fort was very luxury at that time

David dear boy, absolutely love your vids
Good Fort...Good Tune...good video
Those vaulted ceilings 😍😍
nice....very nice slideshow. Makes me want to go check them out myself!
The UK, as with many countries right now, foolishly allows the treasures of it’s heritage to either rot or fall to private ownership. A folly indeed!
Showed every Arch / Unit except the one I work in . Interesting though 👍
Again well done. Great work. Cheers.
Well done. Cheers.
Thanks David!!! Love your clips and appreciate your effort mate. Keep it coming please!
Fascinating place and video. Thank You
@60m across, this fort is exactly the size of the smaller round tulou houses still in use.
Interesting...
Who do I contact to get a trip to this ? Thanks thanks
Gosport Ferry Company Four Forts Cruise. Summer months only. www.gosportferry.co.uk/
I remember when they still had a manned coast guard tower there back in the mid 70s. Spent the day up in it as a teenager while my father did work inside the fort on the ships navigation marker that was there.
Soooo beautiful.... I used to fish the moats and explore the forts when young and they were all grown over with bushes an tree's. Brings back many memories! Thanks
I saw James Brown play here in 2000/01, I think both Atomic Kitten and Rolf Harris were on the line up too, sadly. I can’t find any footage of the gig which is annoying but the oddest place to catch Mr. Dynamite as you can imagine, especially if you know Gosport and it’s bleak atmosphere back then.

The corrupt establishment allows our heratage to rot. English heratage is funding too many big dinners and national trust is sanctioned for expenses.
This lovely fort used to be open to the public. It's an absolute crime that it's now only accessible by people wealthy enough to afford to stay in a 5* hotel :(
Agreed, I always wanted to visit at least one of the forts but it seems they're all privately owned now.
DJ Messy Thousand pounds a night.
@@tenebrousnova636 I visited the Fort over 25 year's ago. Well worth the money even though now I can't remember how much it cost.
Nice they turned it into a protected park. Saves history.
@0:46 thatis the sniper tower.i was there the other day and now there is a village surrounding it and people comit suicide there
i live near it
Ahh. memories of pirate radio!
can you go into fort
No. The fort is a secure area awaiting development.
Fascinating thank you for posting.
Wasn't Fort Nelson the last place with a working guthrie rolling bridge? Also what is the name of the song?
Parts of the bridge mechanism survives at Fort Nelson but it is not working. Rinella Battery in Malta has restored theirs. The music is Rock of Ages by Musikshake.
Yet another little known piece of our history.
Very interesting - thanks.
Cool video well documented , check out my latest video, I paid fort fareham a visit
these must be shots from several different visits...?
Brilliant I went on board This Ship with my dad a Marine at that time she was afloat and had one sole Watchman on board this was early fifties or late forties
I wonder how it was built? Did they hold back the water somehow?
traderjoes they made a coffer Dam around it. Fort took 16 yrs to build. It's never fired a shot in anger. Got it'd own fresh water water supply below the sea bed at 24 thousand gallons a day. I have drunk tea made on the fort with the water. Tastes lovely.
I wonder what it is being used for now.
It's basically a hotel now, has 8 bedrooms, a bar, a wine cellar, hot tub, sauna etc.
well that is neat
It's also up for sale at 5 mill.
we have sort of the same thing here in california in the san fransico area they were coastal artilery implacments that were put in place in the 1940,s and decommisioned in the early 1950,s and on the marin side of the bay there is a nike missle base that is decommisioned and now a musiem (spelled it wrong ).
