Completed as part of my satellite and radar meteorology class as part of my MS in Applied Meteorology. The point of this project was to focus on the radar aspect, which is why I chose to analyze a QLCS tornado event because the rotational signatures can be harder to identify.

We first got the extreme wind warning around 6:37pm, by around 6:45pm the eyewall was hitting with full force. Hurricane conditions lasted from then until around 2:30am. The worst of it started around 9:30pm, as wind gusts ranging from the upper 90s to 120s started to ravage the area. A journey through the day as Hurricane Milton made it's final run towards Sarasota. All footage here in chronological order as the bands of Hurricane Milton steadily increased the rainfall, winds, and damages. All filmed in and around Apollo Beach/North Ruskin.

I was just chilling before heading to the gym and noticed a small area of rotation on radar. Head outside and what do you know, I get to see a funnel cloud from my back yard. Almost 2 hours of storm development wrapped up into 5 minutes. Another great day with some massive storms off of boundary interactions. With merely weeks left in the rainy season and not much going on in the tropics I might as well make the most of it with these HD timelapses. Enjoy!

How close have you been to lightning? 100% one of the closest strikes I have ever seen. The pop before the thunder, 2 theories on that. Either it is the air turning into plasma or a current running through the metal parts of the tower I was on.

Amid around 3000J/kg of MLCAPE, sea breeze storms fired off with southeast flow firmly in place again across Florida. These storms did not move as expected due to boundary interactions. With strong southeasterly flow and high moisture content in place, storms fired along the west central coast of Florida in explosive fashion. @BoneValleyFilms and I put in good work on these supercells in the outer band of Debby in Polk and Hardee counties. Multiple brief tornadoes touched down, mainly around Arcadia, Florida. Left bright and early Sunday morning to get into position to see some of the sights Debby had to offer. Pinellas county experienced flooding rapidly as heavy bands of rain and wind came ashore. I moved over to Hillsborough to document the rain and winds there. Widespread flooding is ongoing as of August 5th.
