Nice memory. Took my late mum there around 11 years ago. It was a big deal for her. I’ve still got the ER coronation mug mum got given for me at the time of Elizabeth’s actual coronation.
I’m glad you were able to take your mum! My momma was able to visit a few years ago when my parents stayed in Edinburgh. It was one of her priorities and she enjoyed it.

Absolutely. I’ve never been on a cruise but I was scheduled for one along the Norwegian coast in 2021 but unfortunately they weren’t letting tourists in at that time. It’s my priority one. I also joke that, when I’m retired I’m going to do one of those round the world cruises so I can see everything without flying 😁

Come back in the summer, the car park next to the castle is the sight of a Roman fortresses, there are over 600 castles in Wales, more per square mile than any country in Europe.

Train line is great to find out when trains leave and from where...but you will save money, Most of the time, if you book directly with the carrier. Train line tells you who the train carrier is...Avanti, SouthEastern, etc
Have you looked into a rail pass? We got one before we left the US...There are several options. Consecutive days-x amount of days to use within in month etc. Hotels can be expensive...have you looked into Airbnb? Having a kitchen will save you a lot!
I LOVE Airbnbs. I stayed in one in Edinburgh for a whole month and I did not want to leave 😂 It really is my favorite accommodation type

We're recently back from hiking in Ireland which I recommend as well as UK. Some coffee shops give a discount if you bring your own re-usable cut. Yesterday I actually remembered to bring one to Gregg's ! I just ordered a secondhand book (A Strong Female Character by stand-up comedian Fern Brady who grew up where I went to school) from Worldbooks at around half price (£7:00 ish) but I have yet to try to sell one: they usually go to charity shops in bulk just to make space.
I’m really looking forward to seeing Ireland! I’m glad you enjoyed your hiking there. I should definitely get a reusable cup to carry with me especially if Gregg’s do a discount! I used to do that here a lot more but got out of the habit. I have listened to Fern Brady! She is funny. I’ll have to check out her book!
I just discovered her on TH-cam the other day and loved her stand up. I empathise with her in so many ways I just had to read the book. World of Books . Have you read ‘Eleanor Oliphant Is Absolutely Fine’. Fantastic read. Emotions of all sorts brought out by that one.

I want to go to the Cotswalds...any advice. Cant find a tour group for that area specifically . Ps you look more like my daughter than my own daughters do. Lol

I’ve been to Great Britain on vacation. England and Wales are nice places. I’ve also been to France and Portugal in Europe. An amazing continent with lots of history. They just need to keep the illegals immigrants out of the UK. Good luck if you do your trip. 👍🏻
The one with the blue flower and no filling. Jam filling would have done me, or marzipan on top. Preferably both! :-) I'm now going to eat some of my wife's home made gingerbread with simple icing on top, for supper. I'm glad her church tearoom couldn't manage to eat it all! ;-)

I’m trying to get to the areas I haven’t been to before, mainly the Highlands and Cornwall. I’ve only made it up to Loch Ness briefly on a previous trip and have had to cancel visits to Cornwall on 2 separate occasions 😫

Oh yeah, I definitely have a rough plan of what I want to do. The problem is … there’s so much! I’d love to stay on Arran again but I also want to get up to the highlands since I only saw a bit of that region last time! I want to visit Stirling again as it’s my favorite castle but should I skip it and get to some new stuff first??? So much to do! 😅

Yes, that’s another thing I have to do. I get very tired and need days where I just have a nice meal and maybe go for a short walk as a rest day. The travel days on the train or bus are especially draining. Haha. Glad I gave you a giggle. I could not believe when I went to edit that I’d said that without even realizing it.
